Yes, there is a very good possibility a good guy with a gun in his hand will be shot if he is not in contact with Officers and he is startled and reacts by not complying with verbal orders. That’s why anyone carrying a gun in school needs to be highly trained. Not necessarily on guns and shooting, but on the tactics and procedure that will kick in when shots fired at a school is reported. Commanders aren’t on the scene and the shooting will be over by the time they are. Securing the area and entering as a team is not done on most departments anymore. The responding Officers enter and engage the shooter. That’s how it’s usually happened lately, with the exception of one incident where a Deputy failed to act. Real time video in the school could be routed to anyone, and would be invaluable.

I don’t think it would need to. And I don’t see that as a “fatal flaw”. The responding Officers would be talking to each other, and like any other time they would need to positively identify their target. I would think the Officers knowing they are in a school full of kids would be extremely reluctant to use deadly force without absolute certainty. That should always be the case, but with a Dallas Officer on trial at this very hour; it isn’t always.

Things will change rapidly as technology changes. I have said before and I will say it again, I believe the best technology available today at a reasonable cost is security cameras like NEST (etc.) being displayed on multiple TV’s though out the school. So that at any given time multiple Adults/Teachers can see them. Human beings are best at detecting threats. Especially when the human beings know or don’t recognize the subjects they are seeing. Offices have TV’s monitoring cameras, every classroom could have a large screen TV at the back of the classroom showing multiple cameras that a teacher could turn on or off. All the eyes you can get, on as many areas as you can get. The software in that video might be okay to alert someone for sites that store uploaded videos for playback.

I don’t think that will work. It won’t work on cockroaches and apparently these are much harder to get rid of than roaches; if you can even get rid of them. So, then you will glow in the dark and still have bugs.

A .357 JHP out of a 2.5” barrel is an impressive home defense round.

Gov. Bill Lee to proclaim Oct. 10 day of prayer & fasting
DaveTN replied to Dirtshooter's topic in General Chat
I see no problem with it. He’s not suggesting incarcerating people that don’t pray or that don’t believe in prayer, is he? I’ll pray; but I won’t be fasting. He may see what he is doing as being required by his faith. -
By 2010 Remington had closed the Marlin plants and transferred everything to Remington in NY & KY. I’m a Remington fanboy and think they make the best bolt action rifles and shotguns on earth. You can spend more money than a Remington costs; but you can’t get a more accurate rifle or shotgun. But only the reviews after the move in 2010 will apply to the Marlins. So, there’s that. Henry has been building rifles for 23 years, which isn’t that long when you start talking gun companies. But levers is what they do; and they have an excellent reputation. I don’t think you could go with either. But I know if you want .357 you should plan on ordering new. Used .357’s seem to carry a premium and I have no idea why; they aren’t any harder to find new. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

We have them here also. Welcome.

It will be interesting to see what all is offered here. I’m a little confused by the “Murfreesboro Armory”. Unless maybe they mean this is a joint venture between The Outpost Armory and the Nashville Armory??

And I’ve seen people quote their Real Estate lawyers on criminal law. Best to stay with what you do.
-
The older you get the more you will appreciate them….trust me.
-
Only if you could get them to pay it. I would have a lawyer, buyer or seller; and they would be working for me only.
-
I doubt those are a result of any stepped-up enforcement of gun laws. It appears to me most of those were convicted felons or violent offenders that were caught in a drug deal or stopped on a traffic stop. Might be stepped up enforcement in some areas of the city where the residents don’t feel safe. Most of those arrested aren’t going to trial; they are caught and are going to cut the best deal they can. Unfortunately, that’s give and take and anymore the Prosecutors “give” too much to clear cases.

Beto said out-loud what all Liberal Democrats want. He didn’t do it by mistake, he (and the others) is so out of touch he thought it would bring him back into the numbers he needed. We (Gun Owners) have Trump; and that’s all we have.
-
That’s cool. I have blind faith in no man; I’m a realist. Doing what I have to do to protect my (and everyone else’s) God given right of self-defense is my moral obligation.
-
Do we have a choice?? The Democrats are very clear on what they will do. Do you think a Republican is going to run that can beat Trump?
-
There will only be two possibilities; a Republican and a Democrat. One isn’t a “gun guy” and may have some ideas you may or may not like. The other wants to outlaw AR’s and all other semi-auto’s and take any you may have. Voting so you can feel good about yourself, writing in someone that can't win, or not voting at all will impact gun legislation. There isn’t anything you could possibly do in your life to protect your gun rights more, than go vote for Trump.

Pleeeese… we have been through this too many times before. To list all the things he has said he would do and all the things he has done would take pages and pages, and its been done here before. What’s your list Bump stocks? That was a commonsense decision caused by someone at ATF that couldn’t do their job properly and had to be sat in the corner. And if you rule Trump out; who are you going to pick? (Be real though; it must be someone that has a chance)
-
Trump will veto an AR ban should it ever make it to him. Unlike any other choice that has any possibility of being elected.
-
Thirty .30 caliber rounds in one half of a second?? That’s amazing; those poor ghosts don’t stand a chance.
-
They are claiming Warren has passed Biden. None of them have a snowballs chance of beating Trump. That’s why I don’t think we have seen the person that will be running against Trump…yet. Mainstream Democrats don’t want to be socialists….I don’t think. Many of them work for a living. This is crazy.
-
As others have said; it won’t make it through the senate. And even if it did trump won’t sign it and they certainly wouldn’t have the votes to override his veto. Even if all that happened, I don’t think a Federal ban can survive a SCOTUS challenge. They might stand quite on a state doing it; but not the Feds. I made the mistake of turning on the news yesterday while I worked. This is ridiculous. Nany Pelosi has fallen to the socialists (short fall). Biden doesn’t deny saying that, but they want to impeach Trump for asking the Ukrainian President to investigate it?? Dang man, you can’t make this stuff up.

Vortex customer service thumbs up
DaveTN replied to Pickaroon's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Good for them. Good customer support is great….when you get it. I always thought Smith & Wesson’s customers service was what all others were measured by; and it was for years. I saw all the bad reviews on them and didn’t want to believe it; then it happened to me. I emailed Vortex with some question when I was buying their products. If I remember correctly, they responded pretty quick. Leupold is supposed to have excellent customers service. My only dealing with them was a few years ago when I bought a Leupold scope for a Remington rifle. I used Leupolds website to get the model numbers for the bases and rings I needed. The rings were wrong. The numbers were wrong on their website. I emailed them and they told me to send them in and they would replace them with the right rings and apologized for the mistake. I was leaving in a few days to go to Illinois and shoot. I asked if they could go ahead and send out the correct set so I would have them prior to my trip, and I would send the others back. They said they couldn’t do that. I offered to give them a credit card number to cover them if I didn’t send the others back; they said they couldn’t do that either. So, I didn’t get to take the gun on that trip. I though that was chicken chit, but some folks said I was overreacting. Trying to configure and order a laptop from Dell today. They are advertising a Veterans Discount. However, the folks on the Workstation side won’t honor it. Used to be a company with bad customers service wouldn’t last long, unless they were selling something really cheap. Now bad customer support is the norm, even on high dollar items. -
My list of nations will be very short. Most all my guns are America Made. I only had to go outside the US when I wanted a Winchester Model 70 Super Grade (now made in Portugal), and a Mosin a friend gave me. Hey, that Super Grade gave me a few sleepless nights. A few years ago that would have never even been a consideration.
