"Make them unable or unwilling to fire their weapon."
-
Absolutely, because if she was a trained Police Officer that probably wasn’t a true statement. She was emotional and trying to take responsibility for what she had done. She went overboard. I would assume that is because of her emotions and her attorney’s failure to properly prepare her for her testimony. Had this been a young woman coming home from her 13 hour shift at the local hospital as a nurse and made this mistake, this trial would probably not be happening, and a jury absolutely would not have convicted her of murder. They did it because she was a cop and because she made it easy for them by saying “I feel like I don’t deserve to be with my family and friends.” and that when she fired, she intended to kill him.

Panther. That pic makes it look light, but its black. This is what I get when I lighten that pic up.

Leupold Nikon Vortex. I own them all and that’s the order I could choose them. But lets face it; it’s a .22. You won’t see a dimes worth of difference in any of the top picks because a .22 doesn’t have the range. I have a Remington 597 that has a $50 RedHead (Bass Pro Brand) that is boring accurate. The mount is as important as the scope. “Weaver” could be anything. They make a Picatinny mount and that’s what I would want; with quick release rings. The mount must be solid, properly installed, the scope must be leveled and everything properly torqued.

I’m just saying the drinking stuff is fake news. She made a mistake; no doubt about that. I feel terrible for both her and the victim. Not because she is a cop; but because I am a compassionate human being. There was no intent, there was no recklessness. If you want to call it stupidity; so be it.
-
She just got off work. Toxicology reports showed no drugs or alcohol.

I thought they were sentencing her today, but it looks like they aren’t quite done with her yet and will continue tomorrow. Man….if this doesn’t send a message about situational awareness I don’t know what would.
-
You aren’t the only one. Especially if it’s just read out loud; without anyone knowing the context or back story.
-
Been watching the sentencing live..... My gosh I never thought about how bad someone can make a person look by simply quoting what you post online or Text. They are doing real job on her.

We are one step closer to instant gratification. I recently placed an Amazon order, and had it delivered the same day. No, it wasn’t a drone, and it actually came out of Chattanooga; but it was a first for me. Amazon and UPS finally understand that when we want something; we want it RIGHT NOW! https://techcrunch.com/2019/10/01/ups-gets-faa-approval-to-operate-an-entire-drone-delivery-airline/

Correct.

Of course, they do. We had discretion in misdemeanors and tickets. We didn’t have discretion in felonies, and we couldn’t even charge murder; only our States Attorney could do that. DA’s in this state make the decisions; not cops. The Nashville Metro DA charged a cop that was chasing a fleeing thug with a gun in his hand with murder. I don’t think the Metro DA and former Mayor can be accused of protecting cops or protecting innocent citizens that use deadly force. I violated Department policy in a shooting. A command Officer said that to which I replied “The policy is wrong.” Another Command Officer said “Don’t say another word until you talk to your attorney.” Should he have been fired for saying that? I’ve told people I knew not to make a statement. That’s something I wouldn’t have said to someone I didn’t know. Should I have been fired?

She testified she intended to kill him, (which was a mistake) but believed she was justified in that intent. Had he killed her it wouldn’t have been a hard hill to climb at all. He didn’t know her. (That would have been a hard hill to climb if he had) the fact she was a cop wouldn’t/shouldn’t have made a difference to the DA.
-
Absolutely. We are fixin’ to find out how much that mistake can cost you.
-
I have never heard of a state that doesn’t require very specific intent and state of mind requirements or murder. But I will admit that’s only one state I’m sure of and another I’m pretty sure of; that leaves 48 I don't have a clue about.
-
Its just my feelings; absurd as they are. You are correct; being a cop is irrelevant. If anyone man or woman entered an apartment and thought it was theirs and killed someone; I would feel the same way. Burglary requires intent; there was no intent here. They commonly try to give reasons for being in the house or business and the prosecution is required to overcome those defenses. I am not so naive as to think her being a cop is irrelevant to many people. As I said, I’m sure that played a part in going to trial.
-
So, no intent or state of mind required in Texas?
-
I don’t know anything about Texas law, but Judge Napolitano says the verdict is no good and will be changed or overturned. He says murder requires a motive and there is none. My guess would have been criminally negligent homicide or something like that (Whatever they have in Texas) I don’t know why she went to trial. She admitted what she did and to take it one step farther she said she intended to kill him when she shot him. What in the world was her attorney thinking? Maybe they wanted so bad to make an example out of her they wouldn’t offer any plea. I feel as sorry for her as I do the dead guy. She thought she was in her home. That is not disputed by anyone.

Good grief! I don’t hunt and I don’t eat stuff that didn’t come in a package from the store or I picked off the plant. That is risky enough. -
Thanks to you and the others for doing what you did. I assumed when I heard that situation on the news there was more involved than someone simply being ill prepared.

I have to laugh when YouTube folks waste time explaining the weapon is clear or viewers get excited about trigger or muzzle control. It’s an inanimate object in a video…you are safe. Now when someone is making a video on quick drawing and they shoot themselves in the leg; that’s different; give them grief. But I must confess I laughed at that also. When someone is doing an intelligent gun video; I give them the benefit of the doubt that the weapon is clear. So I don’t get excited when they muzzle sweep me through the camera or start playing with the trigger.

This will be pressure for On-Target.

Tax is a non-issue; there is no such thing as NO TAX. You are responsible for paying the state sales tax on your on-line purchases. Like all other laws; ignorance of the law is not an excuse. Here is the link if you have questions… Will you get caught? Who knows. I got a tax bill from the state with penalties. Luckily the penalties were very minor; but it was a bill I wasn’t expecting.

And that’s good. Cruz in Parkland was seen on camera and recognized by a school security monitor who recognized Cruz as a threat and recognized what he was carrying as a rifle case. Unfortunately 911 was not called at that time. A procedure was not in place. Video cameras allowed a school staff member to see what was going on the school should have had warning. But because of a monitor that failed to notify Police and a Deputy on the school grounds that failed to act; a bunch of kids died.
