Gov. Bill Lee to proclaim Oct. 10 day of prayer & fasting
DaveTN replied to Dirtshooter's topic in General Chat
Nope, Jefferson’s religious beliefs were unorthodox and he wanted to pick and choose what he believed from the Bible. So most of us don’t give 2 what his religious beliefs were. This has zero to do with separation of church and state. Oops almost forgot.....IMO. -
I can’t pass up this opportunity to tell you I paid $300 each for three 6" Pythons in the late 70’s. So put that in you pipe and smoke it.

I would guess he’s lying to you; but I don’t know that for sure. We constantly have discussions here about cops interacting with the public. Usually the cops did nothing wrong; someone here just didn’t like it. This is a case where the cop (or the civilian working at TBI) is just an azzhat that doesn’t want to do their job. I don’t believe for a second that they only check the name. Now if you had the same name and DOB; that’s another story. Is that the case? If your information is so close to another person; they are denying you; you can get a Unique Personal Identification Number (UPIN) from the FBI and use it. I don’t know if that would fix your problem since your problem is not with the Feds check; it’s with the TBI’s local check. Good luck, and its sad that the TBI cannot act responsibly to you for their mistake. https://www.fbi.gov/services/cjis/nics/national-instant-criminal-background-check-system-nics-appeals-vaf

Is something wrong with the Mark III? Is it not as good as the Mark II, or is it just going to be so close in price to new I might as well go with the Mark IV?
-
Yes, but an independent barrel and slide doesn’t fit this application. As far as accuracy goes, I have a 617. I’m just looking for a semi-auto target type gun that can keep up with it.
-
How would that be the case?
-
Some folks at the TBI are incompetent and are probably doing their job half azzed. They look for any reason to refuse you; it looks good on their yearly stats. I doubt you will find its identity theft since they are saying you were arrested in 2015 and you have bought several guns since. I would guess it will be a name/DOB issue. And with the SS number being included on the form; they knew good and well it wasn’t you when they refused it. The other folks that ran your previous checks did their job properly.

So…I was thinking about .22LR Semi-Auto Rimfire target gun. (I already have a 617 Revolver). I’m a Smith & Wesson Fanboy so I thought I would try a Victory. But the barrel isn’t long enough, I thought they would have a longer version out by know, but it hasn’t happened. They also seem to be having a lot of feeding problems posted on the S&W forums I use. So, I started looking at others. The models I am comparing are the Smith & Wesson SW22 VICTORY Model: 10201, Browning Buck Mark Contour Model: 051508490, Ruger MARK IV COMPETITION Model: 40112, Smith & Wesson MODEL 41, Model: 130512 Let’s go ahead and kick the S&W Model 41 out of the running. I included it because it is the gun that owns this class. Hands down, I would love to have it; but I’m not putting over a grand in a rimfire. I’m not happy with reports I see on the Victory; but you know how that goes. You mainly hear from the people with problems, and I can find those for most of these guns if that’s what I’m looking for. I also don’t like that they don’t have a longer barrel version. The Ruger and the Browning look the best. They both have great reviews. The Browning is $100 less, I would assume that’s because it has an is aluminum receiver?? I’d be curious to know if anyone knows the accuracy difference between these two? I don’t care about suppressors and probably will never buy one unless the laws change. But I chose the threaded barrel on the Victory simply because it was an option. It isn’t an option on the others; and that’s fine, it’s not a deciding factor. What do you guys think of these? Should I be looking at others? Let’s discuss. And lets please keep this to semi-auto target rimfires; not rimfire copies of our Tupperware carry guns; that will be another thread. ************************************* Browning Buck Mark Contour Stainless URX, 7 1/4 (Barrel is Satinless, Receiver is Aluminum) Model: 051508490, Stainless, MSRP: $589.99, Barrel:7.25", Weight: 39 OZ, Height: unk, Length: 11.3", Width unk, Sight Rear: Pro-Target, Sight front: Pro-Target, Cap:10 https://www.browning.com/products/firearms/pistols/buck-mark-pistols/current-production/buck-mark-contour-stainless-urx-7.html Street: https://grabagun.com/browning-35206309.html $485 https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/98379/browning+bm+cntr+stainless+22+725+urx $520 Ruger MARK IV™ COMPETITION, Model: 40112, Stainless, MSRP: $749, Barrel:6.88", Weight: 45.8 OZ, Height: 5.50", Length: 11.12", Width 1.75" Sight Rear: Adjustable, Sight front: Fixed, Cap:10 https://www.ruger.com/products/markIVCompetition/specSheets/40112.html Street: https://grabagun.com/ruger-mkiv-competition-22lr-6-88-ss.html $589 https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/34252/ruger+mark+iv+competition+22+lr $613 Smith & Wesson SW22 VICTORY THREADED BARREL, Model: 10201, Stainless, MSRP $429, Barrel: 5.5", Weight 36.0 OZ,Height: unk, Length: 9.2", Width unk, Sight Rear: Adjustable Fiber Optic, Sight front: Green Fiber Optic, Cap:10 https://www.smith-wesson.com/firearms/sw22-victory-threaded-barrel Street: https://grabagun.com/smith-and-wesson-sw22-victory-22lr-5-5-thread.html $329 https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/5681/smith+%26+wesson+10201+victory+22+lr++55+10r+threaded+barrel+stainless+steel $324 Smith & Wesson MODEL 41, Model: 130512, Carbon Steel Blue, MSRP: $1369, Barrel:7", Weight: 44.8 OZ, Height: unk, Length: 12", Width unk Sight Rear: Adjustable, Sight front: Patridge, Cap:10 https://www.smith-wesson.com/firearms/model-41-0 Street: https://grabagun.com/s-w-41-7-22lr-blue.html $1119 (Out of Stock) https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/26195/s%26w+m41+10%2b1+22+lr++7" $1193 (Out of Stock) Beretta 87 Target, Model: J87T010, Frame: Aluminum Alloy black, Slide: Blue, MSRP: $1050, Barrel:5.9", Weight: 41 OZ, Height: 5.3, Length: 8.8", Width: 1.1", Sight Rear: Adjustable Target, Sight front: Interchangeable, Cap:10 http://www.beretta.com/en/87-target/ Street: https://grabagun.com/beretta-87-22lr-5-9-bl-2-10rd.html $928 https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/25754/Firearms/Handguns/Beretta/Beretta+87+Target+22+LR+5.9+Adj.+Sights+10+1

It needs to either go to a gunsmith or back to the MFG. Why pay for a gunsmith if you don’t have to? Don’t chase your tail on a broke gun. But just out of curiosity, you say “There was a round in the chamber and the hammer cocked back but it would not fire.” The hammer would not fall, or the hammer fell but the round did not fire? I’ve heard plenty of so called “experts” say a 1911 can’t fire out of battery. I’ve also seen plenty of people say theirs did. You never really know because the Mfg. doesn’t want to admit their gun did it, and many times the suspected problem was reloads, and the reloader or gun owner doesn’t want to admit that. After spending most of my life working on and with machines, I have learned anything can happen to a mechanical device...and will. How many times have you heard someone say a gun can’t fire without pulling the trigger? That’s ridiculous and usually coming from the uninformed that like to use childish phrases like booger finger or bang switch. Point is, you have a potentially serious problem if your gun is not going into battery.

These azzhats pizz me off. When the majority of people support what they don’t, their answer is to sue. This ignorant dirt bag puffed out his chest and ran his mouth about having a prosecutor fired. (How stupid can you be??) Now he’s reaping the rewards of that ignorance. This is a Beto move; he’s grasping at anything that make him look good again. But he’s so ignorant as to what the voters want; he thinks this is it. All those liberals will support it; because there isn't one of them that is in touch anymore.

I’m looking for a toolbox to put all my gun gear and cleaning supplies in. I won’t be putting guns in it; but all the stuff I need for cleaning, or when I go to the range. I’m thinking I need to go to Walmart or one of the sporting goods stores to look at fishing tackle boxes. Let’s see what you guys use. For example, I a little box with sliding draws that holds all my bore brushes and mops. I assume a tackle box would have plenty of compartments for that stuff (I have several calibers). I’m also including a YouTube video a guy did of a tackle box he picked. I would like something like that, but the one he picked doesn’t have big areas without any trays to put the bigger stuff, like range tools or big spray cans. And one I watched on the MTM box; it had plenty of open space, but didn’t have enough storage compartments. They were throwing all the different size bore brushes and mops together; that won't work. It’s okay if it has fold out arms to hold a rifle (like the MTM), but I don’t think I really need that, especially if it takes up too much usable space. I don’t care how big it is, but if it gets very big, wheels and a slide up handle would be great. I’m also not real concerned with cost; I mean it’s a once in a lifetime purchase. x

Las Vegas shooting settlement - 735+ Million. At fault = MGM
DaveTN replied to Erich's topic in General Chat
Just another example of why businesses must have absolute immunity if the state recognizes the 2nd amendment as an individual right. Of course businesses are going to post; why wouldn’t they? Their attorneys will tell them to do everything they can to protect themselves. They are the “Deep Pockets”, so of course they are going to be sued. It doesn’t matter that they had nothing to do with it; the person responsible is dead and someone must pay. I’m sure the Democratic candidates and the rest of the left was joyful to see this settlement putting fear into business owners. The guy charged with manufacturing ammunition without a license, for making some of his ammo goes to trial in December. He waived his right to a jury trial, but the Judge refused it; he will be tried by a jury. -

I had one in my cart yesterday, but decided I want other things. I doubt you will ever get one for less than $150. https://palmettostatearmory.com/sccy-cpx-2-9mm-pistol-no-safety-1-magazine-cpx-2cb-s.html?trk_msg=O7E45T6M3DM4P4ADJ4UCLI4H7G&trk_contact=L60AMVEUQ5132LDJ9DIKMMS71C&trk_sid=H8MGJV27O0RHSRN2H70S7LLTMG&utm_source=Listrak&utm_medium=email&utm_term=https%3a%2f%2fpalmettostatearmory.com%2fsccy-cpx-2-9mm-pistol-no-safety-1-magazine-cpx-2cb-s.html&utm_campaign=Daily+Deal&utm_content=12%3a00+Email

I notice that there are some folks on here selling stuff that only have links to pics; they don’t show the pic. I often wonder if they know that? If they are seeing the pic, but we are just seeing the link? I won’t click on a link; not worth the risk.

Most of it. -
I would never go into the woods without a rifle….ever. Probably a .308. Not even a park unless it is mowed. So if I got lost, I would guess someone would be investigating where the gunfire is coming from within the first few hours.

I’m not minimizing the death of anyone. All I can do now is pray for that woman that someone with some common sense and compassion steps in.
-
I’ve used the DUI example before; and it is murder. Problem is a lot of people can see them or their kids killing someone in an accident when they are DUI. But they can’t see themselves walking into the wrong apartment and thinking it is theirs.

Grab A Gun and Buds are my two go-to places. Once you determine what you want; those two generally bonce back and forth with best price. https://grabagun.com/ https://www.budsgunshop.com/index.php

I thought I saw something that said the minimum for what she was convicted of was 20 years??

I have been to the Coconut Bay Cafe, more than once, and I can easily see how folks there could see a house cat and think it was a Lion.

The other potential problem here is that if this verdict is overturned or reduced, as it should be; there will be high drama and possible rioting, driven by the press, saying she is getting off because she is a cop. Or maybe, they (this Judge, or judges hearing the appeal) will let it stand due to fear of riots. Hard telling.
