  1. I bet Bass Pro and Dicks don’t have any problem getting insured. Another hit for the small business owner. But…. If there is more to this than meets the eye maybe someone will step up and fill us in.
  2. I must have missed the memo. Is Tennessee considering registering guns? Since Tennessee doesn’t have gun registration let’s make the voter registration comparable to something that Tennessee does have; carry permits. <O:p</O:p Voting: You can’t be asked to take a test to vote; the SCOTUS shot that down. HCP: Not only will you required to take a test, but you will be required to pay $50 to $110 to take a class that for many is a joke. <O:p</O:p Voting: You aren’t required to pay to register to vote. HCP: You will be required to pay the state $115. <O:p</O:p Voting: Voting is a RIGHT. HCP: Handgun carry is a privilege. Voting: ALL Federal District Courts and the United States Supreme Court have recognized voting as a right. HCP: Almost all Federal District Courts have ruled that firearm possession is not an individual right. Supposedly the Supreme Court will answer that question this year.
  3. Sure they are given consideration. Your name, physical address, and email address will be sold to spammers and advertisers. Your inbox and your mailbox will be filled with trash. <O:p</O:p Anyone that feels strongly enough about an issue or pending legislation in Tennessee should write a formal letter to their legislators, sign it, put a stamp on it and mail it. Internet “polls†and “petitions†are meaningless to your legislators as they show nothing more than someone’s ability to make a few mouse clicks on a whim. <O:p</O:p Finding stacks and stacks of mail in their office from the voters that voted them into office has their immediate attention. <O:p</O:p
  4. I need a holster for my 2 ½†Model 66. Just thought I would throw it out here and see if anyone has anything in their holster box. Looking for Right hand, leather, pancake, Thumb break.
  5. They make MIL STD 1913 Picatinny rails for the M1 carbine that mount without modifying the rifle. You can mount a long eye relief or a handgun scope on them. I have one on my Garand, but didn’t put one on my M1 Carbine because I don’t really shoot it that far.
  6. Reef, I didn’t read this whole thread to see if anyone mentioned it, but CMP sells the military Kimber Model 82 Government. They are $600. But it’s a single shot. http://www.odcmp.com/Services/Rifles/caliber22.htm
  7. It is illegal to carry in either if they are posted. Does the city own the NCC? If they do it is illegal to carry. The GEC is private. I guess it would depend on if it is posted or if they are serving alcohol.
  8. . . . . . .
  9. I think lever actions are cool. I hadn’t had one in years and picked up two Winchester Model 94’s last month. (Shameless plug… I have one that needs restored in the for sale section cheap. ) I wanted a .357Mag but didn’t have any luck. I don’t know about the 1893, but if you are just looking for a shooter and don’t care about collectibles; Dicks, had the marlin 336 with a scope on sale for $319. I went and looked at them and they looked pretty decent for the money. I had never heard of them until I started looking, but EMF (Importer) has 1873 Levers. They are a $$Grand on their website and $900 on GB. I’m curious to see one because at that kind of money they must be either extremely high quality or an importer is dreaming.
  10. Probably the same thing that would stop a convicted felon serial killer from buying a handgun FTF…. Absolutely nothing.
  11. Because they are made on multi-slide presses and there is a lot of tooling involved. Cost of tooling and quality control. If the quality of the tooling is high and there is good quality control; you get a magazine that works. If the quality is crap and there is no quality control; you get magazines that are crap. Another factor is quantity. If they are making 10,000 mags for a model specific firearm they will cost more than making a run of a million mags for a 1911, AR or AK.
  12. CMP ships M1 Garands and M1 Carbines to non-licensee’s everyday…. Even to California.
  13. If I remember right we were looking at the material for some use for something at work, and they sent me this sample. Here is what it says on the back… CD HOG Made of ENGAGE Designed and manufactured in Australia by the Elastomer Brothers Pty Limited. It won’t work with a 1911; those rubber spikes aren’t tall enough. But maybe that have a bigger size.
  14. Lying around on my desk at home. Some kind of a sample that someone had sent me for something; I don’t remember. Didn’t pitch it out, but couldn’t find a use for it. Well today I found a use for it. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
  15. Very nice. I went to Hero Gear and a EBR followed me home. Must be something in the water down there.

I heard that; no "safe queens".
  17. I don’t think much has changed in the last 50 years. #1 The .45ACP has held the #1 spot for 100 years. #2 The .357Mag has held he #2 spot for at least 50 years. #3 The #2/3 spot was held by the .38 Special for 60 years. The 9mm (arguably) knocked it out of the number three spot in the 80’s, but not because it was a better round. The 9mm has been on the scene longer than the .45ACP. But it didn’t out perform the .45 a hundred years ago and it still doesn’t today. So what’s changed? Well… we have designer rounds now to choose from. Airplane hijackings became a problem so we got the Glaser. Because an attempt was made to outlaw them we still have people that think they are a carry round. The 10mm; that didn’t work so well, so we got the .40S&W. The .357Mag couldn’t be used in an auto loader so we got the .357Sig. Glock didn’t have a round with their name on it so we got the .45GAP. How have those rounds worked out?
  18. No one is beating up on you about what you charge for guns, that isn’t what this thread is about; this thread is about doing stupid stuff. No one (that I see) is complaining about your price on a new Glock. But if an established customer that has bought new guns from you wants something that you don’t have are you going to bend them over on a transfer?

A Model 17!!! Can I have that? Nice find?
  20. I can’t for the life of me understand this. Why not just say that you don’t do transfers on guns that you don’t sell; why piss off a gun buyer? If I was a dealer I would do transfers for free (or for what they actually cost me). Time? Dealers waste hours everyday talking with people that have no ability or no intention of buying. Why not waste some of that time on people that are buying guns, and might buy from you if you have or can get what they want? But…. Maybe that’s a stupid idea and I would go broke as a gun dealer.
  21. Trying to make sense of what the government does will only make your head hurt. You are talking about a military that replaced the .45ACP with a POS 9mm and the 7.62 NATO with a lame azz .223 that won’t even stop the enemy from firing. I wonder how many more of our troops will have to die before someone with some ballistic sense steps in and ends this.
  22. I watch the prime time network shows and I don’t watch commercials. Why? Because the technology allows me that option.
  23. Then lets go. Yes, but that’s because you are not an internet warrior that talks about stupid chit like “shot placementâ€, “sight picture†and hits everything they shoot at no matter what the situation. Armed opponent, adrenaline rush? Doesn’t matter to them; they know they would respond with deadly accuracy and surely be the “last Man Standingâ€. The only problem is that they have never had the experience anywhere except at the range on the 7 yard line with a picture of a guy pointing a gun at them. Everyone knows that spending 8 hours smoking and joking at the range is far superior training to what cops go through.
  24. It is a non-issue if you have a cable box. It is only an issue to those that use over the air signals. It will become an issue to you when the cable companies start reducing the number of standard definition channels as they add HD channels.
  25. Anyone have the short version of savage model numbers? 12, 112, 10,110, 11,111, 210, 24F, 40, etc, etc etc. I have already looked on their website and I don’t see anything; short of looking at every model number and trying to compare them..
