A long gun for home protection? Here is mine; recoil is not really a factor. DPMS .308 Panther

This is an ugly used revolver.... This is what it looked like after I got done with it....

I have posted this before, but I will post it again. I do not believe that theses are gun haters that are putting up the signs. They are business owners that are doing so in a feeble attempt to help cover their azz in a shooting gone bad. <O:p</O:p Making this a fight is a good thing, but you need to know who and why you are fighting. The first thing we need is legislation that gives absolute immunity to the business owner and makes the shooter the only one civilly liable for their actions. <O:p</O:p I doubt this will happen because the lawyers would be giving up the “deep pockets†of a civil suit. But it is worth a try. <O:p</O:p Oh… and I don’t think we should wait for restaurant or bar carry to pass before addressing this issue.

No it isn’t; not even close. I mean no disrespect; in a couple of years you will laugh that you even posted this.

If you and your wife are both familiar enough to load and use a semi auto under stress that’s great. If you aren’t you can’t beat a full size .357mag revolver. (S&W 686; probably the #1 home defense handgun choice in the country). Any weapon that is locked away is not a home defense weapon; it is just another gun that you can’t get to when you need it.

The absolute best finish that can handle most anything and costs little or nothing for the “average Joe†to repair is no finish….. Stainless Steel.

I need the trim on my brick house painted and my gutters replaced. Can I make a better deal paying with guns than with cash?

The County Sheriff is the CLEO for all counties in Tennessee with the exception of Davidson; there it is the Chief of Metro PD.

So much for the Taurus. I bet his next revolver will be the one they were trying to copy.

I won’t try to sell you on the Glock; I am a huge S&W fan. But the Sigma was not designed or targeted for the LEO market. Anytime you see a thread where a Glockster is attacking S&W it will always be the Sigma. They pick that model because they know they have a better firearm. I find it amusing that they compare their Glock’s with a firearm that was designed by Smith & Wesson for the bottom feeder market. You say that you have heard about the Sigma trigger. Try one. It’s not just a matter of smoothing out the trigger it’s also that the trigger pull is ridiculously long. S&W had many fine firearms in the LEO market, but they weren’t low cost Tupperware. When they took aim at that market they did it with the M&P. They built a weapon that out performs the Glock hands down. They did it with an all American made firearm and keep it in the same price range as the Glock. Both the M&P and the Glock are already in the low end of the price range for a weapon considered as a duty or self defense weapon. If you want an option to a Glock, make the M&P comparison.

Interesting conversation with a LEO tonight

I meant that you have to make a decision based on the circumstances and the facts on that day, at that time, with that Officer, in that place..... and there is no pat answer. -

Wow…. Another us vs. them thread. I couldn’t make it through all 15 pages but I have to say that there is some real bad advice being given here by some respected forum members that are dressing it up with legal language I don’t think they understand. Keep in mind that in most cases YOU are going to determine how a traffic stop ends. Having done hundreds of traffic stops and searched hundreds of cars can I tell you if you or your kid should refuse an Officers request to search? No… that would be ignorant. But I could give you plenty of examples where lives were impacted by making the wrong choice. There is more to the law than reading the text on the internet and giving speeches about what the cops can and can’t do. These people will not be there to post bond for you when you are in jail. And if you are a parent you better think long and hard about impacting your kid’s future because of something you read on an internet forum. Know what will happen with the choices you make. Be informed. -
If you are shooting a nine; those are words to live by.

http://www.surplusrifle.com/shooting2005/howtogetyourcurionrelicffl03/index.asp There is always a lot of controversy about submitting a copy to the CLEO. You do not need the approval of the CLEO and you do not have to go there. You only have to send them a copy. They do not have to sign anything or forward it to the ATF; they can pitch it in the trash. This is only the ATF’s way of giving the CLEO an opportunity to warn them if you are a nut case.

The Springfield Armory EMP Model P19209LP 3†is a 9mm. They claim it is the smallest 1911 made.

Then buy an American made weapon.

Well… awhile back I changed from my Comcast email address that had been working prior to the forum upgrade to an MSN email address. I started getting notices again. Today I tried to change it back…. The forum says… I received no email with a “special link†and when I click on the “here†nothing happens. Of course I couldn’t post, so I had to change back to the MSN email address. I immediately received the email with the link.

S&W M&P If you want a .45 compact it is suppose to be available next month.

Well we will see how they rule… But I have not heard anyone claim it is a right of a group or militia. They claim it is a protection for the states from the Federal government and not an individual right. This is clearly <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:State><ST1:pTennessee</st1:State>’s take on it. In <st1:State>Tennessee </st1:State>you have a “special group” that is 3% of the population; for the rest of the population carrying a firearm is a crime. That is not a right. <O:p</O:p If you think that the SCOTUS is going to rule that the 2nd is an individual right, what impact do you think that will have? Do you think their ruling will allow all Americans to keep and bear arms? Good info. Case law is every bit as important as the written law. <O:p</O:p

M&P. What is wrong with my fonts? They look okay to me.

By “they” I assume you mean the Croatians? SA is simply an importer of guns from “HS Produkt”. “HS produkt” has 1000 employees; SA has just over 100. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that the Croatians are calling the shots. SA is simply using them to fill a hole in their product line. “The Americans” have already produced a pistol far superior to the XD; and it is made here.

You are the FTF buyer, any paperwork involved?

I have owned many 1911’s; most listed here. You can’t go wrong with a Kimber. When I needed to replace my Kimber Custom TLE II, I bought a stainless Smith & Wesson. They were about the same money, same excellent quality, performed the same (to me); so it boiled down to the company. S&W won that hands down. If your concern is choosing one of the top of the line 1911’s there really is no way to lose.
