  1. No… but we have forum lawyers, which in my opinion are more dangerous than Mall Ninjas. DISCLAIMER: I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV. But I did sleep at a Holiday Inn last night.
  2. That’s the long and short of it for me. Business owners have rights and responsibilities and they must do what they see fit to protect their customers and their business. If I don’t agree with them I go somewhere else. Get legislation that removes the liability of business owners and I believe this problem will go away.
  3. Bond money and having a lawyer on retainer…. That is all you need. Since you know that the mall is posted, and since the AG’s opinion seems to verify that it is posted legally; you are once again preparing to get into a pizzing match with the authorities that you are going to lose. So just let your family know that if you are not at the designated meeting place; check the local jail.
  4. I don’t know, but at two to three times the cost I would have to see it out shoot a 700 VLS in .308.
  5. Either of these places will have everything you need. http://www.midwayusa.com/ http://www.brownells.com/
  6. I have only got a notice once in my life and they told me not to report because I was a Police Officer at the time. What kind of crap is that?
  7. Option 5: Buy a pellet gun and save the money for something worth putting a suppressor on.
  8. You have got to be kidding me. Felons can buy a gun in Tennessee anytime they want, day or night. They just can’t buy it from an FFL dealer. Forums, internet sale sites, newspapers…. No questions asked. You think that someone making a joke about selling ammo is going to cause some anti-gun person somewhere to support some legislation that will cost you money? That’s just silliness; the anti-gun folks are trying everyday as hard as they can to take your guns and restrict ammunition. I doubt they get any ideas from this board, but I for one am not going to worry about what I discuss or joke about here because of them. And if any of them are reading this they can kiss my azz.
  9. Federal law covers the transfer of ownership or shipping of a firearm across states lines. State laws cover the transfer of ownership or shipping within a state. So you are responsible for not violating any Federal or state laws in your transaction. Add to that problem… shipping. You must declare you are shipping a firearm; that is Federal law. Don’t assume that just because your transaction is legal, the shipper will accept it. Case in point…. I tried to ship a shotgun to a forum member in Chattanooga. (Perfectly legal, No FFL required) But when I declared a firearm at the Murfreesboro UPS hub the (and I’m laughing as I use this term) “Security Officerâ€; refused to ship it. He said that only an FFL holder could ship a firearm to any one other than another FFL, and even then if the person shipping it was not an FFL holder they could only ship to a manufacturer or repair facility. I called UPS corporate and they apologized and said that is not their policy. However, they said they would not override the decision of the people at the hub on a firearm shipment. So don’t assume that everyone involved will know the law or even their own shipping polices.
  10. I’m not sure why you think the tolerances on a Dan Wesson may be “too tightâ€; but I didn’t read the other thread you refer to. What you use is not nearly important as how often you use it. The problem is contamination. Dirt and metal particles accumulate in oil, these act like a lapping compound and can cause premature wear. Prior to a range session I break my firearms down, give them a quick wipe down and relube. After shooting they are thoroughly cleaned. How often you clean a carry weapon depends on the environment you carry it in. I would not put grease on anything that the manufactures does not specifically call out to be greased. Do not use oil that is not specifically recommended for firearms. I say that because you will commonly see WD-40 recommended. As a Toolmaker I can assure you this is not something you want on a firearm. Remember that clean & lubed is more important than brand of lube and fire away. Your weapon will last a lifetime.

    best .22 handgun

I would agree with the S&W Model 41 probably being the best. The most desirable for me right now is the S&W 617. Although I haven’t own one yet…. I will.
  12. A couple of weeks ago my best friend came by and we spent the evening sitting on the patio drinking a few beers and checking out my lasted gun additions. He’s not really into collector guns but was really impressed when I brought out the old military stuff. (Garand, 03 Springfield, M1 Carbine) Last night we went to his camper on the lake to visit and listen to the band. He says he has a rifle he wants to give to me for my collection. He said he has had it for years and doesn’t even know what it is, but thought it would go well with my collection. So now I have my first Mosin Nagant. I’ve not really researched these a lot but it appears to be a Finnish M39 stamped 1941.
  13. As long as it’s not the U.S. Postal service it’s legal. (handgun) Federal law requires that you notify the shipper if you are shipping a firearm. That means your bag would have to go overnight with UPS or FedEx. I doubt you can do that for $15. Also you couldn’t ship any ammo with it.
  14. That’s fine, I can use the email address I am using. I just posted because I thought you wanted to know if you fixed the problem. I lost my ability to use that email address when you upgraded the forum software. I’ll call or email Comcast. If they are blocking email from this forum I’m sure they will stop if members request it.
  15. I still can’t use my main Comcast email address. When I try to change back to it I never get the email verification request and the forum just shows “Awaiting Account Activation â€. When I change back to an MSN address I get the request immediately.
  16. I don’t know how often they do it, but Dick’s had Marlin 336’s with a scope for $319.
  17. Probably an ATF agent.
  18. Joe riding a Beemer! That should make baby Jesus cry. Just kiddin’ Joe…. Kinda.
  19. I have a couple like the one in your picture that I bought at Academy in Franklin. They are regularly about $40 but they run them on sale for around $25. They are very cheaply made and won’t take much abuse, but they are better than the plastic cases for storage.
  20. If you have the opportunity to go to a gun show; go. It will give you the chance to handle all the guns you want to check-out. As far as prices go all the gun shows I have been to in the last few years have higher prices than the local dealers. If you are a first time buyer and have a lot of questions I don’t think they will have the time to spend with you at a show that someone in a shop will.
  21. Hero Gear in Winchester, or right here in the trading post section.
  22. Just over $600 will buy you a 686 new. Used Pre-locks will be under $500 unless they are NIB. What you see listed for prices on the gun forums are not necessarily what they go for. This just sold on the S&W forum for $425. (Even though the screen name is close it isn't me.) http://smith-wessonforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/511103904/m/8921061303?r=8921061303#8921061303 As I say, post a WTB ad and see what happens.
  23. I’m not sure of an on-line list, but there are many models. I have the “Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson” that lists them. $400 to $500 will get him many of the most popular models used. Model 686 or 586 (L-Frame) Model 19 or 66 (K-Frame) But here are some… Model 10-6, 13, 19, 27, 28, 60-9, 60-9LS, 60-10, 65, 65LS, 66, 340Sc, 360Sc, 520, 581, 681, 686, 640-1, 649-3. I picked up a nice 66 2 ½ “on this forum and a 4” 686 on the Smith & Wesson forum (from a member in my town) with a WTB ad.
  24. You are going to get recommendations on every AR made. My latest choice was a DPMS, but it’s in .308. More important to accuracy is the optics. I have a 3X9 Leupold VX-I on my DPMS. If you prefer accuracy over just sending bullets down range; an AR platform will never compete with a bolt for accuracy in a varmint gun. For that I have a Remington 700 VLS in .308 with a Leupold VX-III 6.5X20.
  25. Wheel guns require more machining than Tupperware guns. They are far more reliable than semi’s. You pick them up and pull the trigger; no magazines or safeties to deal with. They are more accurate than a semi. (I’m talking full size revolvers; not J frames) The chances of a citizen needing more than six rounds are astronomical. They just look better than a semi. (With the exception of a 1911) No gun collection is complete without some. Most people (young or old) pick stuff based on cost; they buy what they can afford. But I think young people like wheel guns. It’s just the older you get the more you can afford the high end toys. (That’s why us old guys ride Harleys.) Now having said that… Everything is life is application driven. I have all types of handguns and it depends on the application which one I choose to use.
