Rumor: An iPhone for Verizon in 2009
Chalk this one up to wishful thinking.
A leading Apple blog posted a rumor Sunday that the iPhone — which is currently available in the United States only through AT&T Wireless — could be coming to Verizon, perhaps as early as January 2009.
Cleve Nettles, writing in 9 to 5 Mac, says “negotiations between Apple and Verizon are ongoing but they expect to hammer out agreements by the end of the year.â€

Well at least that what it sounds like.
I guess one of the fireworks places is burning over on South Church Street.

or ?? Why your choice?
When faced with that dilemma I went to Anniston and bought a Garand and a 1903. (I went back later and got the M1 Carbine.)
I thought I better get them while I still can.
The next time I bought a DPMS panther .308AP4.
I wanted an AR, but didn’t want a .223.
The next time I bought a Remington 700 VLS and a Leupold scope.
I wanted a long distance .308. rifle.
I have no idea what the next time will be.

If it’s just as fast, do whatever is comfortable and works for you. However you train is probably how you will react under stress.
The chances of needing more than 12 rounds in a shooting are slimmer than winning powerball; and if you do need them you are probably hosed anyway.

A macho hero's reward in this type of case could be a number and a cell, as well as family on the street because you lost the house in a law suit. At 65, and current financial situation in U.S. it is not something I can worry about after the fact.
This is an excellent point that many don’t think about.
I have to laugh every time I see “I would rather be tried by twelve than carried by six.†Sounds pretty macho huh? It’s silly and shows a total lack of knowledge of the law.
I don’t want to be tried by a jury in criminal court; depending on where you live the conviction rates are up around 70-80%.
I also don’t want to be tried in a civil court. Losing everything you have does not help protect your family.
The days of killing someone to protect property are over in most states. The Castle Doctrine laws of today are not to give you the right to kill to protect your home, but are intended to remove the burden of proving that you were in fear of your life, from an intruder, while in your home.
I can buy a new house, I can buy a new car, and also they are both covered by insurance. I will not put my freedom or my family’s future in jeopardy merely to protect property. I have firearms to protect lives.

According to wikipedia (I know not necessarily the best source of info) Iowa, Pennsylvania and Virgina say you must retreat to some degree. It says in Iowa you do not have to leave your home, but may require you to retreat within your home.
TN would be considered a "Stand your Ground" state also, in that you do not have to retreat anywhere that you have a legal right to be. Some state while not requiring retreat within your home may require retreat when you are elsewhere.
When you hear a noise in the night and walk into your living room to find a thug pointing a handgun at you; how far do these state laws say you need to retreat? My guess is they don’t.
I am not a lawyer and never played one on TV, but I would bet money that “The immediate danger of death or great bodily harm†trumps duty to retreat in all 50 states.
“Duty to retreat†was brought into play by criminal coddling liberals that believe you don’t get to murder some poor misguided thug because he breaks into your home. But even those liberals are willing to blow his azz away if he is an immediate threat.
-
In some states you still have a duty to retreat before using deadly force, even in your home
, but I think more and more those types of laws are going the way of the dodo bird. I think it's only a matter of time before all states have at least some form of castle doctrine.
I think my own personal justification will work no matter what state I am in; but I want to be sure. What state has a duty to retreat when faced with immediate danger of death or great bodily harm? That statement, by its very nature implies that you do not have time to retreat, and has nothing to do with castle law.
Castle law comes into play when you want to shoot people in your home and you don’t want to have to justify the shoot; by their mere presence they are assumed to be an immediate threat.

Are these compatable? I don't want to order a new drive, and it have a different set of pin connectors.
ATA-6 will work, but SATA will not.

Can I convert my 401K in Etrade to S&W stock without taking the tax hit?
-
Sounds like the first girl knew that and the second one didn't.
I agree. I also think the attorneys for BP would be going nuts if they knew employees were having people handling and clearing loaded weapons in the store.

Well I went last night.....felt safe
.....even talked to a couple LEO's on the way in.....no problems. The circus sucked compared to last year though!
Good. Because I was worried the headlines may be…
HCP holder goes berserk and starts shooting clowns.

If a “reasonable person†(that means a jury) believes that they are in danger of immediate death or great bodily harm, they are justified in the use of deadly force. That works in all 50 states as far as I know.
Shooting someone because they are on your property or stealing your property probably will land you in court.
Most reasonable people will agree that meeting an intruder in your home satisfies “danger of immediate death or great bodily harmâ€. Shooting a 15 year old neighborhood kid in the back that is trying to escape does not.
Tennessee has no law that protects you from a lawsuit.
Tennessee has a law that allows for a judgment against someone that sues you when you were justified. A judgment will not help you get back the money you are going to have to spend if the dirt bag that sues you has no ability to pay.
As someone that has responded to these incidents I have said this before and I will say it again….
You need to have a plan in case you have to use deadly force. Whether or not you go to trial could be determined in the minutes or hours following a shooting. If you are justified you need to cooperate with investigators when they arrive. If you are going to invoke your right to speak to an attorney prior to making a statement; you need to be able to make contact right then. Not the next day when he gets to the office.
Your first call should immediately be to 911. The second call should be to an attorney if you are going to use one.

Federal HydraShok's performance has been far eclipsed by many other rounds...Speer Gold Dot, Federal HST and Tactical, and Winchester Ranger-T all far exceed HydraShok.
Do you have a local source with decent pricing for any of those?
I want to try a bunch of .40 and .45ACP in a couple of weapons to see how they feed. But buying Hydra-Shoks in 20 round boxes gets pretty expensive.

Collector guns may hold their value, but used everyday carry guns and others will drop.
As you can see the higher priced used guns are not selling well, while the “deals†are snatched up as soon as they are posted.
When people need money; they need it. They don’t have time to wait for the right buyer. With 401K’s and investments crashing “toys†will be the first to go.

I bought my new drive (and a bunch of other stuff) for my Toshiba laptop from Newegg.
I have been very pleased with them. They ship fast and have the best prices I have found.
It looks like you can get a 120GB ATA drive for around 70 bucks or less.

Dang, Dave. I wish I could go. My Fiscal year-end is 10-31 and I'm belly-button deep in @#$@-reports due by the 15th. After that I'm good to go until about March, 2009.
I can go next weekend, though, PM me. I'll either have all these crap reports done, or I'll be living in Joe's van down by the river at Herogear....
Okay we’ll get together later. I have to shoot somewhere this weekend because I have a new M&P I want to carry and I haven’t shot it yet.
Some of you guys with Garands or 03’s may be interested to know that CMP now has finished Black Walnut Stock sets.
I didn’t want to refinish my original so I bought a Wenig stock. I don’t know who is making these for CMP but most people that have them say the fit and finish is excellent.

Glen, I just got 500 rounds of 30 carbine and 500 rounds of Lake City 30/06. I’m thinking about going shooting tomorrow.

The Brits put the locks on. I thought that when the Americans were back in control they would come off. But I'm still waiting
If you want to separate fact from fiction there is a thread on this at the S&W forum. It is 25 pages long and has 361 posts right now.

Put a trigger lock on it and give her the key. That still wouldn't be foolproof but I think they would have alot harder time saying your in possesion of it then.
I think you are absolutely right. No lying to the cops, invoking the 5th or anything.
No immediate access, no physical control.

From a distance/accuracy perspective is the .22 any different than a .223?
Yes, they aren’t even close to being in the same league. (Rimfire Vs. Centerfire)
Right now I'm only shooting out to 200yds so I'm not looking for anything to go very far but would like to know if a .22 is going to start dropping out at 100yds.Yes.
Long distance shooting is half the shooter and half the equipment.
.22LR allows you trigger time to train yourself. It makes no difference if the target is 50 yards or 100; you are looking for consistency. Take that training or consistency and add it to a quality long distance rifle and you are good to go.
Reason for my interest of a .22 is simply ammo price. I could shoot all day for next to nothing. That’s why many of us do it. I bought a .22LR Smith & Wesson revolver for that reason. It’s the same size and weight as a real gun but the cost of shooting is insignificant compared to .357Mag or .45ACP.

My question is , is this scope worth the extra?
Extra over what?
What are you going to use this scope for and on what?
I understand these have better glass, 1/2 in adjustments. An M2 is 1/2 MOA adjustment, an M1 is 1/4 MOA, and the M3 is 1 MOA elevation and 1/2 MOA windage.
What would be a good price for this I think you can buy one for 1400 or 1500 new.Leupold Mark 4 Long Range Tactical M2 Rifle Scope 30mm Tube 3.5-10x 40mm Illuminated TMR Reticle Dark Earth (Leupold # 62150)
Check out MidwayUSA. If you have a C&R that scope is $1164, if you don’t it’s $1400.
In the $750 price range there are some pretty nice Leupold scopes you can pick up new. Just depends on the application.

This is from the manual.
If you don’t have one, you can download it here…

Sighting
Your rifle has been sighted-in and testfired at the factory. However, due to individual sighting characteristics, sighting should be range verified.
Rear Sight Adjustment Rule
To make corrections, always remember to move the rear sight in the direction in which you wish to move the center of the group. That is, if you are shooting low, raise the rear sight. If you are shooting to the right, move the rear sight to the left.
For Models Equipped With Elevator Adjustable Open Rear Sights Horizontal Correction (Windage)
Windage adjustments to the rear sight can be made by gently tapping the dovetail portion of the rear sight in the desired direction. To move the point of impact to the left, move the rear sight base to the left. To move the point of impact to the right, move the rear sight base to the right.
Vertical Correction (Elevation)
To raise the point of impact, raise the rear sight. To lower the point of impact, lower the rear sight. The sight can be raised and lowered by moving the stepped elevator forward and back with your thumb.
For Models Equipped With Screw-Adjustable Rear Sights Horizontal Correction (Windage)
To move the point of impact to the left or right, loosen the leaf binding screw until you can move the leaf manually. Move the leaf in the appropriate direction, retighten the screw and fire again. Continue this process until your shots are horizontally zeroed-in.
Vertical Correction (Elevation)
To raise the rear sight (if you are shooting low) turn the elevation adjustment screw clockwise. To lower the rear sight (if you are shooting high) turn the elevation adjustment screw counterclockwise. Continue adjusting and firing until your shots are vertically zeroed-in.

Why would they revoke your permit for not answering a question? They're not going to do that; it's just a question.
I don’t know; I’m asking a question. I can’t believe that the law would require you to show your permit on demand of a LEO, but would allow you to stand silent on where the weapon is. That would create a danger to the Officer.
Now you're right, a permit holder must show the permit on demand from law enforcement, but I do not think they will lose their permit if they refuse to do anything else.We need to know that. We need to see it written in the form of a law, AG opinion, or case law. Don’t we?
If someone finds themself in this situation they're going to have to say something. So what should it be? Heck I don't know, but they should probably just politely lie. Politely say there are no guns, then politely refuse a search of the vehicle. We are HCP holders. Unlike ordinary citizens we live at the foot of the cross and don’t commit crimes. (I don’t know if that is true, but I’ve read it here many times
) And we especially don’t lie to cops on a traffic stop about whether or not there are guns in our vehicles.
-
How is the officer going to know you have a carry permit? Other than if he goes around asking everyone he encounters to see their carry permits, I don't see how the passenger having a carry permit would even come into play.
Go read the first post and all your questions will be answered.
