  1. I’m sure every department handles that as they see fit; but no. If a person was acting normally and wanted to see a Command Officer I would see if we had one available. If they wanted to make a citizens complaint; I explained that process to them and informed them that it required them going to HQ and making the complaint. I have said this before and I will say it again; you always have recourse. But the last place in the world you want to try to exercise it is on the street. That’s pretty telling right there. You seem to have your mind made up about all cops; and that’s okay. But don’t whine about it when that comes across and they treat you like a dirtbag.

    Why 1911?

I doubt that, I don’t think most people buying them today are buying them because of nostalgia. They only ones laughing would be those thinking that a gun needs to be made out of plastic and have a bottom feeder price tag. Quality 1911’s are not cheap and aren’t cheap to shoot. Everything is application driven. You have the application or you don’t; and as you are about to see many won’t agree on what the application is.
  3. State law can be more restrictive than Federal Law. If this guy holds a C&R and lives in Connecticut and doesn’t know if he can receive a gun from you; I would let him pay the transfer fees.
  4. OWB carry (for me) absolutely requires retention. I would prefer the thumbreak of the Black Widow over the Carrylok.
  5. This might help... http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinDisassembly.htm Tennessee Gun parts..
  6. Certainly it is your property. Private vehicles are the property of all <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:State><ST1:pTennessee</st1:State> residents while they are driving them on the streets; but 97% of the citizens would be arrested if a loaded firearm is found in them. Carrying a gun in this state is not a right.
  7. Yes. Can they fire you over it? Yes. Can they legally search your car? Probably (but that’s a moot point unless you want to spend the money to find out). Will they forcibly search your car? Probably not; they can just fire you and order you off the property. <O:p</O:p There are legitimate reasons for not allowing firearms (or anything else that produces a spark) in the workplace; combustible atmospheres, etc. Most food processing plants don’t allow you to take items like cell phones or jewelry in; I would guess that includes guns. <O:p</O:p The point is that your employer is doing what they think is best for their business. Have you ask them if you can have a gun in your car in the parking lot? Because you said they would like you to not carry in the building. The parking lot is not the building; but I would guess they would give you an answer. What rights?
  8. There is no pat answer on any search; only opinions and case law. <O:p</O:p However… Your employer can ban items such as firearms, cell phones, lighters, tobacco products, or circus animals if they choose. You can be fired for violating those policies. They can also establish a policy that all vehicles entering their property are subject to search…. And many, many companies do. <O:p</O:p For it to be a 2nd amendment issue the state of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:State>Tennessee </st1:State>would first have to recognize that you have a constitutional right to carry a firearm. They absolutely do not recognize that; quite the opposite.
  9. I’m no attorney; but I don’t think so. The law allows for a judgment against the people that brought the suit. A judgment against someone that has no ability to pay it is worthless. Maybe an attorney can step in and tell us if the County or the State is going to foot the bill.
  10. A pension can be gone with the stroke of a pen; a 401K can’t.
  11. That’s what I was thinking as I read your story. Attach a holster to the bottom of the car seat. I refuse to violate the carry laws. Therefore if I don’t feel comfortable with not carrying I would go somewhere else. Well… there’s that and then there’s the fact that if they serve drinks; I’m drinking.
  12. Your scenario is one of the few where I would fire the first shot. If I am standing next to him, have nothing behind him and I know I can turn him off like a switch; I might take the shot if he moves his gun away from the clerk. If I’m farther away I’m probably not engaging him unless he starts shooting. I really couldn’t care less that the guy is robbing the place, but if he decides to start shooting witnesses and I’m standing that close to him I probably would not have time to draw my weapon. If he is robbing someone at gun point he is bought and paid for. However, you are not released from civil liability because you are justified in shooting. If you shoot an innocent bystander you will be held accountable.
  13. I don’t see it on their web site now, but Mt. Juliet PD was offering the course at $25 for city residents and $50 for Wilson County residents.

    S&W Model 10 Victory

I think it’s exciting when you know the people involved in the history. Don't let it get away.

    338 win mag?

I had to laugh reading this thread. (I’m laughing with you not at you.) You are talking about going into an environment where most of the animals will kill you and eat you, and you are getting advice from folks that hunt deer not much bigger than dogs. A quality big game rifle would cost thousands and all it would be good for when you got back is a conversation piece at parties. “Big Game†and “Low Recoil†just don’t go together. Wouldn’t you be better off to rent something after you got there? ..
  16. The King Cobra was offered in Stainless or blue. (Although someone could have put a nickel finish on a blued gun.) If it is stainless you can return it to new condition. However, besides a dremel you really should have a large bench buffer. The trick is to remove any damage and maintain a smooth blended surface. That is really tough to do with the small dremel. Any depression that is not blended with the entire surface will be really obvious. Good Luck.
  17. If the price is right…. I know how to clean guns. I have made a couple of good deals on great guns because they were all dirty.
  18. I drove to Illinois in a vehicle loaded with firearms. Yes… I am living on the edge.

    HDMI cables

Like everything else; it’s application driven. Anything and everything can effect transmission. Length of cable, shielding, the wire itself, the type of connectors and how the connections are made. The problem is that buying the most expensive doesn’t mean they are necessarily the best.
  20. +1 I have had good luck with both of them and they have replied to PM’s in a timely manner. I usually don’t go just to browse; I know what I want. They are both a two hour round trip so I try to find out if they have what I want before going. On one occasion I said “I can’t get there until tomorrow, I will buy that will you put my name on it and hold it?†They said “No problemâ€.
  21. Well here is my take on your situation. You say the school is “Just up the road from usâ€. I’m not leaving a loaded weapon in a vehicle on school grounds no matter what it’s stored in. And you can’t Clear/Load it on school property. So what… you are going to drive a short distance, pull over before the school, clear it, and do that again when you leave? I wouldn’t take it the short distance to school.
  22. That’s what I wish I would have got instead of the Crossbreed super tuck. Of course I sold the M&Pc a week after I got the holster. I’m thinking about one for a 3†1911. How long did it take to get from the time you ordered it?
  23. That’s for someone that carries two (or more) guns. But if I thought I needed to carry two guns I would just stick the second one in the side panel of my ballistic vest.
  24. Yes. Exactly the same as Tennessee.
