No, only 3% of us paid for the privilege. There are probably a lot (especially abused women) that can’t afford to pay for the 2nd amendment rights some say we have. I don’t want to be a spelling Nazi, but if your goal is to be a well-respected attorney you should probably learn how to spell it. Sorry…. I couldn’t help it. One has nothing to do with the other; states can do as they please. Okay, if you believe that; lets have a written test to vote. That is true. You should be thankful to those that allow you to buy the gun privileges you have. But that is your state legislators; not the United States Constitution. We have traded nothing. Rights under the Constitution are enjoyed by everyone in the county or they are not rights. There is not slight of hand. I used the number of valid permits that the state says are issued, compared to the number of people in the state. You can call Charlie Epps if you like; but its not a high level of math. Certainly our system gives you recourse. I have preached and preached that people have recourse. Especially with bad cops. Just because you don’t agree with a courts decision doesn’t mean there is no recourse. Sorry but law is not emotions, flag waving, and telling people they should move to Canada. A good example of that would be me telling you that I joined the service during war time, have two honorable discharges, served my country as a Police Officer, and then asking you what you have done that makes you think you are a Patriot.

Good advise. As you will constantly see on this (and many other) forums people want to make arguments based simply on the way they think things should be instead of the way they are. There is nothing wrong with that as long as you understand the difference. And here is a very good example of what I am saying above. You want to believe that you have 2nd amendment rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution, and that the antigun types have very weak arguments. However I would say to you that I have been jailed for no crime other than having a loaded gun in my car. It was explained to me by many lawyers and the Judges that the 2nd amendment is not an individual right. 3% of the population of the state of Tennessee can legally carry a loaded handgun off their property; 97% would be committing a crime. Please explain to me how something limited to 3% of the population can even remotely be construed as a right. Now…. If you want to make an argument that you have or should have a right to carry; I’m with you. But if you want to make an argument that you have a right to carry, or that you have gun rights off your property; the anti gunners will kick your azz every time. Sorry, but waving a flag or pointing to something in the Constitution that clearly is not enforced won’t get you very far, even on a gun forum. My ability to carry a gun does not come from the 2nd amendment and the SCOTUS will never rule that it does.

When threaten; Judge says at least point your gun
DaveTN replied to threeshot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
That is the type of Judge we do not need. He is sure that deadly force was warranted; but is sending a guy to jail because he didn’t actually shoot the perp. This Judge is obviously not capable of differentiating from the letter of the law and the intent of the law. I hope the defendant can appeal this case; I would guess charges will be dismissed if it gets in front of real judges -
I use to travel for a living and eat most of my meals in restaurants. I know that waiters and waitresses put up with a lot of jerks and cry babies. I either tip well or don’t tip at all; there is no middle of the road. But quite frankly I couldn’t give a rolling rip down a razor blade what your opinion is on gun carry anymore than I care what it is on gay marriages or the state GM. I most assuredly will not just pop up and ask your opinion on any of those issues. If you overhear my conversation and want to comment; that fine. Just know that your tip is riding on it. However… as I said in another post if you serve liquor I will be drinking and won’t have a gun on me. So you won’t have to worry about me laying it on the table, waving it around, or deciding to be your security guard.

The day after legal restaurant carry
DaveTN replied to Mousegun's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
If I go out to a restaurant that serves alcohol; I’m drinking. So this won’t affect me much. -
You don’t throw anything away that came with a gun. The box, papers, receipts… nothing. They make the gun more valuable when you sell it. As far as the warranty card; it would depend on what your manufacturer requires. I buy Smith & Wessons and you can register them online. Although I don’t think it matters if you register it or not; they will take care of you if something happens.

I snagged the picture from the S&W forum. Here is one of the many threads about it…. Removing The S&W Internal Lock (Video) - Topic Powered by Eve For Enterprise This was also in another thread… x

I don’t have any NFA stuff all I have is a Class 3 FFL. So I doubt the ATF would show up at my house. But if they did: I’m going to invite them into my home, offer them a cup and coffee and maybe make some new friends. I don’t leave in fear and I certainly don’t fear any Law Enforcement Officer from any agency. Well okay…. I would just as soon the IRS doesn’t want to talk to me, but other than that.
-
Yes, you are wrong. You have nothing to fear. If the ATF shows up at your house unannounced they are going to have a warrant. Now see…. You were worrying about something that won’t even happen.
-
You don’t buy a license. You buy a tax stamp. Why would you buy one? Because if you need one you have (or want) a class III weapon, and if you don’t pay the tax you will go to the big house and stay with Bubba. If you are talking about a Class 3 FFL (C&R)… its because we aren’t afraid of the ATF.

There is no such thing as a new military M1 Garand. Springfield Armory in Illinois makes replicas and has nothing to do with the Springfield Armory where Garand’s were made. (I do not mean that the SA’s of today aren’t great rifles; they are, they just aren’t what collectors will be looking for.) I would grab a Garand, M1 Carbine and a 1903 Springfield while you can still get the real deal. The price of these firearms are being held down because CMP keeps them trickling out. When they are gone (Who knows when that will be)…. The price will skyrocket. Besides that the Garand is just bad azz when it comes to laying down firepower.

Fixed it for you.

I have never been to the North store, but I have been to the South store several times. (I think that is the case with most of us that have been… hence the lopsided poll. ) Whichever store you decided to go to, just call and make sure they have what you want. And make sure all your paper work is in order before you go. Here is a the best sorce of information on the CMP stores and what they have... CMP Discussion Forum There is more to it than being a member of an approved club. But yes, you can stop by and pick one up. Not the way I do it.

If my “Simpler†you mean .22’s…. Absolutely, they are great for trigger time. If by “cheaper†you mean the ammo,; sure. If you mean the guns…. Not hardly.
-
How much cheaper are they? I have a Crossbreed SuperTuck Deluxe, and I don’t think it cost much more than that. I went against my better judgment and bought a Kydex holster. No, more; I’m done. My next one is going to be leather; probably that D.M. Bullard.
-
I have no experience with it, but as far as price…. It appears to be very close to MSRP advertised on RR’s web site, plus you would have FFL fees. I would think one of the forum vendors could do a better price.
-
Thanks. We are now crystal clear on what you have been told. That’s ridiculous and uncalled for. What if he posted he has exactly the same expertise you have….. none? You have acknowledged that you don’t have any real knowledge on the subject but yet you attack someone for questioning your second hand opinions. People here have serious questions about what to do in and after a shooting. They would like information that makes sense, and I doubt they are particularly interested in seeing you take up space by going off on someone that dared disagree with you. I disagree with your “Don’t say anything, and go to the hospital†policy and think it is just bad advice from whoever told it to you. The decision to kill someone and what to do in the aftermath to stay out of court or buried in legal fees requires some legal knowledge. I hope people here are just getting some ideas they can discuss with a criminal defense attorney.

Why not; I’ve been the detail Officer when that is exactly what was done. Home invasion, dead perp, secured the scene called the detectives, and took statements from the shooter and everyone else at the scene. No need to make a victim go to HQ when there is no evidence of a criminal act. Detectives and the on-call Assistant States Attorney arrive and follow-up, coroner drags the body off when they are done. No muss, no fuss when everyone is cooperating. What is your area of expertise that you feel so inclined to doubt that could happen? How many shootings have you been the detail Officer on? And that may work well for you. Just because someone told you that it doesn’t mean it will work for the rest of us. But you are beating this guy over the head with the idea that there is only one way to handle this situation and it is by God your way. You say that you deal with this situation from time to time at work? You deal with suspects that have been shot by homeowners from time to time? Are you a police Officer; if not what do you do? Good grief, why is it that any time there is a question about the cops or what they would do it has to turn so negative?

We did not determine fault in an accident; we just issued citations for violations of the Illinois vehicle code. I would ticket you for improper lane usage for being in the other driver’s lane. It is possible that the other driver could be cited if there was obvious evidence that they were speeding; but it is unlikely. The answer here is to get the problem fixed before that happens. I don’t care how sparsely populated the county is; if the area is a hazard by design it needs to be fixed. Contact one of the traffic investigators for the Sheriff’s Office. Usually a report from them will get it fixed. If they don’t do anything contact the state.
-
Probably. But that is not a good assumption to make. You can be arrested for anything; whether or not charges will be filed or you will be convicted is something else. It is my understanding that it’s a $500 citation, not an arrest, but I could be wrong.
-
That just isn’t true. I almost always asked for permission to search and I never ask for permission to search a vehicle that I didn’t already have probable cause to search. To me it was just conversation as I was deciding how things were going to go. Cops have discretion based on how things go.
-
It has been debated at great length here. The bottom line is that there is no pat answer. If you have just committed a homicide (justified or not) the idea that you are going to happily tip toe off to the hospital and play games with the investigators is ridiculous. Have a plan. If your plan involves not talking with the investigators until you talk with an attorney; that is fine. But part of your plan better be that you can get to talk to an attorney at times other than business hours. People are going to be making decisions about what happens to you based on the evidence and your statement or the statements of others. If you refuse to talk they will make those decisions without your statement. A refusal to make a statement can take a tremendous financial toll on you and your family. If you carry a gun you should always have immediate access to an attorney. It’s just like I say about those that say always refuse a request to search…. For God sakes man have a plan. But talk it over with an attorney and have one that makes sense to you. Because you are the one that is ultimately going to be held responsible for legal decisions that are made. Don’t make those decisions based on the opinions of a bunch of people that have never been in those situations and aren’t aware of the possible repercussions. And yes that video has been posted here before. There is also the one where the attorney tells the kids to get out of the car and lock the doors on a traffic stop. If you really want a good laugh watch that one.

Just the other day I needed to take my MP5 down and go hand to hand and then I needed to transition back to my secondary weapon. This is exactly what I needed!!
