Sixth, you need to be in your 20’s or 30’s. I couldn’t see a 6†circle at 600 yards with open sights.

Everything is relative; how big is the 10 ring? Are you in the same game as a .30 cal Bolt Action bench rest shooter? I’m not that great of a shot, but I think someone investing in a .223 AR and thinking they can shoot the group of a .30 cal bolt is just going to get their feeling hurt; don’t you? I’m not arguing because I have not tried it. But I’ve not seen the AR guys shooting the groups of the bolt guns even at 300 yards, let alone 600. I’ve never seen an AR group at 600 yards. What do they look like? We didn’t shoot that far in the Navy (Well we did but it with 20MM or 3†50’s ) My BIL said they shot M16’s 600 yards in the Marines, but he said the targets were the size of a bus. Mugster, we haven’t had our ammo shoot off yet.

Then I would invest in top of the line equipment from the start, if at all possible. You have to remember that most of what you are reading is information from guys shooting at 100 yards. Most any decent rifle can do that; many guys can shoot good groups at 100 with iron sights. For years everything has been compared to the Remington 700. In the past few years it has become a battle between Remington and Savage. I have never owned a savage but they have a following that feels they are as good as the 700. As far as the Tikka, I don’t buy foreign guns; never have unless they are military collectables. You might get optics that would perform well at 1000 yards for $500 but you would have to find a deal. I saved over $100 on one of my Leupold scopes at Midway just by having a C&R. I’m one of those that believe you might be able to skimp a little on the rifle, but not on the optics.

Yes….. everywhere. Walking home from the ball diamond carrying a baseball bat is okay. Carrying a baseball bat under the front seat of your car is not. In the second case the determining factor (at that time) would be the discretion of the Officer, possibly to be followed later by the courts. Carrying a knife may not cause any problems if a cop sees it. If he sees when he is searching a group of gang bangin’ thugs; it may mean a trip to jail.

You need them all; there just is no way around it. I have a Remington 700 VLS .308 (Heavy Barrel), a DPMS .308 Panther and a Garand (among others). I don’t have a .223 right now, but I‘ve been looking for a cheap paper puncher. We all have tried to put together the perfect all-in-one rifle. It doesn’t work. You have to have them all. And unless I go to Illinois I don’t have anywhere that I can shoot past 300 meters anyway.

It's not legal there. Yes, A straight razor in your front pocket instead of in your shaving kit could be cause for arrest. Many laws have a requirement to prove intent or state of mind.

“Intent to go armed†doesn’t need a definition (or it shouldn’t.) If you are knowingly carrying a loaded firearm; your intent is to go armed. 39-17-1308(a)(2) possession of a HCP is a defense to the crime of carrying a weapon for the purpose of going armed. (AG opinion 05-154) I would say that the ordinance in question needs to be addressed. Since it was in force prior to 1986 and it does not specifically allow for HCP as a defense; people there should have an answer.

Obama has done exactly that. He has stated openly that he wants to ban semi-automatic weapons. I do not like Obama, and I think he will go down as the worst President in history. But I can’t say that he is not honest and open with what he wants to do. He is a socialist and a racist. Fortunately for us Obama is not “the governmentâ€. “The Government†is the only thing that can stop this….. we will see what they do.

I would say it isn’t a pistol anymore. It isn’t designed to be fired with one hand anymore; it is a shoulder fired weapon. However, I am not an ATF agent, nor do I play one on TV.

It’s a big leap from being turned down on a check to never being able to own a gun again. That thought never crossed my mind. You know if you can legally own guns or not. The thought did my cross my mind that I might have to buy my guns the same way convicted felons buy theirs.

I think I may have asked this before; but I’ve sleep since then. I have a military gun collection (Guns actually issued and used by the military). I believe that most of the semi-auto AK’s being sold now are merely replicas made in other countries. I’m not a fan of the AK and have no desire to pay several grand for an NFA military surplus AK (if that is even possible). But were military issued AK’s ever converted to semi-auto for sale here?

The M&P became the Model 10 in 1957. I would not refinish or rebarrel the gun; it would seriously damage its value as a collectable. (Especially if it’s an M&P) If you want to shoot it, but are concerned about the barrel I would call S&W. They use to let you send guns in to be checked out for a reasonable price; I don’t know if the still do that or not. A phone call to S&W is free and I have always found them to be great people to deal with. A refinish is over $200 and I would guess a rebarrel would be $250. I’d keep Grandpa’s gun the way it is. But I’m just looking at it from a collectable/Heirloom point of view. Your son will probably be glad you didn’t mess it up. Don’t worry about who is at the range when you shoot it; you would be surprised how many collectors there are that would really be interested in what you have.

Take a look at Eric’s 100 yard group with that Tasco. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/long-guns/22048-my-best-100-yard-group-so-far.html

Then check out the scopes at Bass Pro. I don’t know who made the RedHead scope I had but it worked well. In my opinion 4X might be fine for 25 or 50 yards, but at 100 it won’t cut it. I also have a Leupold 3-9 VX I and a 6-20 VX III. I can assure you that the price is directly proportional to the size of the group. I recommend you go to Bass Pro because you can actually feel and look through all the difference scopes. They have from the lowest to the highest priced scopes made. We can talk all day about the difference in scopes; but you need to see it.

I had a 3-9 X 32 RedHead from Bass Pro on mine (around $50). It would shoot dime size groups at 50 yards. Of course you could go with a Leupold that would shoot dime size groups at 100 yards. You are as good as your glass. The 597 is the most accurate .22 rifle out of the box I have ever seen. (in the price range) I had problems with it feeding until I got it broke in; but after that it was boring. It would just shoot through the same hole all the time. It’s no slouch; I would put a decent scope on it if you truly want to have a target rifle.

I have two honorable discharges and also served my country as a Police Officer. I didn’t do it to protect anyone that thinks they can bully a business owner into their way of thinking. As I said the business owner is the only one with any rights here. I fear no one; not the government and not the Police. I am a law abiding citizen that wants to be able to carry a gun. A business owner need not fear me. However if he feels it is in the best interest of his employees and his customers; it is not only his right it is his responsibility to act. And I support your right to state your opinion. I knew when I posted my opinion it would not be a popular one; and I am clearly in the minority. I have no animosity towards you because of your opinions; that is what this forum is about. But I would respectfully ask that you do not try to belittle me by implying that those of us that defend the rights of the business owners haven’t served our country or that we fear anything.

That’s exactly what I was thinking; Serpas’s background is being a traffic cop. But after reading that I think the Israeli’s are going to school him.

Colt Tactical Rimfire AR rifles....."Tactical Bunny Slayers"
DaveTN replied to BimmerFreak's topic in Long Guns
It’s not nitpicking; I wondered who made it. Appears to me that it is made by Umarex USA, Inc, Fort Smith, Arkansas. No. S&W is an importer for Walther and they make some PPK’s here. I also think the SW99 is made under license from Walther; but I’m not positive on that. -

That was an entertaining show; but it accomplished nothing. She answers her own question in her next statement… See any problems with that statement? I think we would all like to hear how you would do that, but the bottom line is as long as we can get guns; so can criminals. She is hot and could take my mind off guns. </O:p -
My point is that I was arrested and jailed for no crime other than carrying a gun. I fought the charges based on the fact that I believed I had a right to carry that gun under the second amendment. I was young and foolish; it cost me thousands of dollars. I am crystal clear that I do not have a right to carry a gun. Now, if you want to wave a flag and make a bunch of noise about what you think the Constitution says; that is your right. But people need to understand the law and understand the Constitution; you obviously don’t understand either. Slavery isn’t mentioned in the 2nd; quit grandstanding.
