I don’t want to buy an AR; I just want to build one for something to do. The prices are getting near to where they were before the Obamanation. I don’t become attached to many firearms; I go through them almost as fast as you do.

Thanks I’m all over anything S&W builds; but it is my understanding they don’t make these. I am looking for either an M&P or DPMS lower. One would match my M&P handguns the other my Panther.

Has anyone built one of theses or know anything about them? Del-Ton is 7-8 months out on shipping… that’s crazy. This place says 4-5 weeks and I saw on another forum one guy said that he got his kit in a week. AR15 Parts, M16 Parts, Assault Rifles, Tactical Gear M&A Parts, Inc.

Titanium isn’t a good choice for a pry tool. But is does sound cool doesn’t it?

Mass. Velocity means nothing without it. Surface area and mass are commonly overlooked in the caliber wars. And I believe my air gun would kill someone if I shot them in the head point blank.

How is "with the intent to go armed" defined???
DaveTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
“Intent†is a state of mind that is required for prosecution in many crimes. It requires that the person purposely or knowing committed the act; which is different from knowing that the act is illegal. I think this law uses the phrase “Intent to go armed†to justify the higher penalty. I also think it is used to cover weapons other than a handgun. I can’t think of a situation where you are carrying a loaded handgun off your property without the intent to go armed. A club could be legal to carry without the intent to go armed; a loaded handgun could not. I also don’t think an HCP exempts you from this charge if it can be proven that you intended to, or did commit a crime while armed. (Think Domestic Violence) “Intent†is critical in many laws even when it is not specifically stated. For example we see all the time on the internet where someone says that a cop committed “False Arrest†because their probable cause is brought into question. That is not the case; false arrest requires that the Officer knew or should have known that the person had committed no crime when they arrested them. Another is “impersonating a Police Officerâ€. Clipping one of those hokey HCP badges on your belt or putting markings on your car that imply you are a cop is not impersonating a Police Officer until you commit a specific act to make someone believe you are a cop. (Like trying to stop a car.) The “reasonable person†also comes into play. Proving what your intent was may not be necessary; it may only be required to prove what a “reasonable person†would believe. -
Call S&W. I called them about a part and they sent it to me at no charge.

No beating around the bush or patronizing someone they don’t agree with. I have to respect that.

I would heat treat tool steel blanks, Wire them out, grind the angle on the end, bead blast them, and call it a day.

Our founding fathers probably weren’t as simple minded as some legislators and Judges today. Separation of Church and State was not intended to be abused as it is today. They were talking about the role of the Catholic Church in England. They in no way intended for that phrase to be turned against Christians. We were a Christian nation; we were founded on Christian principals and morals. That may not set well with some; but those are the facts. We have lost that…. How’s that working out for us? Christians don’t separate their religion from anything they do. Neither do Muslims or most any other religion.

When I was looking for something more concealable I considered those until I saw them. I thought the plastic ones are kinda cheesy. The all stainless ones weren’t bad, but at over $700 you are into a price range with some better options… IMO.

Nice Gun Vise Option from Tipton

Is there a gun vise in that picture? Show us a shot of your Gladiator set-up. -
You can still find good deals on Winchester Model 94’s. He can hang it on the wall and by the time he goes to college he can trade it for a car.

My book doesn’t show a BAF, but the three letter code puts it after 1983. All A’s until 1988, BBF is 1988. All steel J-frame is an excellent firearm.

Perhaps it is time to apply some pressure.
DaveTN replied to Volphin's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
You are acting on emotion and you assume that you know more about their business than they do. Those of us that want to carry guns are the very small minority; they will not miss you or your money. However… (And this has come up before), if the press happens to get hold of what you are doing they will make you look like thugs. They will pick out the nastiest looking person with his wife beater T-shirt and bloused boots and put him on camera explaining how we are going to force restaurants into submission. Carrying a gun in Tennessee is not a right; you are part of a “special groupâ€. And we all know how fast the public will turn on a special group. -
Those that want to close to close the “gun show loophole†also want to stop private sales without a background check. Dealers that hold an FFL are required to do back ground checks at a gun show. They think if they can get a ban on sales without a background check at gun shows; it will apply to all private sales.

Wish I still had access to Wire EDM’s; I could make a ton.

Basic moral principals are not tied to religion. Of course I only had to read their preamble to see that they will never get anyone elected.

The scope goes on the rail; the light goes somewhere else. (Like on the barrel or hand guard)

Don’t be afraid of Illinois gun laws. Transfers are done the same way they would be done between any other states. To be legal your friend would have to transfer through an FFL. If the brother lives in Chicago or some of the burbs; handguns are outlawed by city ordinance. He would need to check city laws. As far as I know that is not the case in any midstate or downstate areas. Illinois registers gun owners (FOID); not guns. Much the same way Tennessee registers those that want to actually carry a gun. FOID laws would have no impact of the person sending the gun as they only apply to Illinois residents. The brother would need to show a FOID card before they even bothered to get the paperwork out.

Guns are not really hard to trace if some agency has the desire to do it; no matter how you buy or sell them.

Are Restaurant Owners Liable with new TN laws?
DaveTN replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
They are the deep pockets, the payday. Chances are the shooter doesn’t have enough property for both the Attorney and the person that got shot to get a big check. They don’t have to do anything wrong to find themselves having to pay large sums of money to defend themselves. The intent of the dirt bag attorney filing the case may not be to get a huge settlement, but just a few thousand to settle instead of paying for a lawsuit. Even if they successfully defend themselves their attorneys get paid. Even though it may not protect them, some (if not most) feel that by banning guns they will limit any award a jury might decide to hand down. Carrying guns in Tennessee is illegal; a citizen has no right to carry a gun. Therefore banning them is not going to cause them a problem. It also allows their insurance companies to refuse to insure them if they like. The “Restaurant Carry†bill in Tennessee was tuned into “Guns in Barsâ€. It was done by pro gun groups and now we are going to have to live with the fallout. Some of us predicted this a long time ago. We can all talk about the fact that the owners should not have to go to court if there is a shooting in their business that they had no involvement in; but they need legislation stating that. We are a “Special Group†and just like those that whine about cops being a “special group†the public is not supportive of us. If you don’t think that is true look at what just happened with park carry. Our legislators are “pro Gunâ€, but most of the public is either against or indifferent to allowing anything that does not include them. No one has the right to tell a business owner how to run his business. Unless of course we all are going to come together and pay the lawyer bills when they are sued. -
I can’t find a good side by side comparison of the different models of EOtech’s, even on their web site. I just want one to use on my .308 Panther and maybe an AR if I decided to build one. I don’t need night vision. I found a good price on the 512A65. Why would I need anything more?

You will hear all kinds of internet stories about what you can and can’t be arrested for. Fact is you can be arrested for anything; then the charges are either filed or dismissed. I’m certainly not an attorney, but both false imprisonment and kidnapping require that you are acting unlawfully. If a crime is being committed the following statute gives you the powers of arrest. My experience (not in this state) has been that the only time charges are brought against the person trying to stop the crime is when the person is mistaken in what they are seeing (no crime is being committed), or use force against someone that is simply trying to flee. I contend that these classes should have a representative from the local DA’s office there to explain the use of deadly force. If that is not possible, you should seek out clarification on your own. Instructors are like any other job; you have good ones and have those that you wonder how they find their way to work in the morning. Your understanding of the use of deadly force could determine if you live or die or if you spend a long stretch in prison.
