  1. We just need to make a group purchase. A plot of land 25 yards wide and 1000 yards long.
  2. The law passed. I don’t see how there can be an outcome until we have. 1. A Tennessee manufacturer willing to sell without the proper ATF paperwork. 2. A buyer willing to go to the Federal pen. 3. The ATF notified of the sale. <O:p</O:p I’m almost 100% sure that I know what the outcome of that would be. <O:p</O:p Or…. Maybe someone can file suit that the government is restricting their right to buy the items in question. I don’t know. But I kinda think if that was the case; it would have been filed the day after the ATF letter came out.
  3. It’s an opinion; not law. They did it. (According to that news article) The guy is charged with a violent gun felony. If his attorney wants to argue that the cops were not authorized to take his permit and he should get it back; he is free to do so. Also, we don’t know that they didn’t go through the proper channels to take it. This is all mere speculation at this point. If you are for a second entertaining the idea that this guy did noticing wrong and these tellers are in a conspiracy to get this guy; you make a good case for keeping your weapon concealed and your mouth shut. I guess we’ll have to try to keep track of this case and see what happens.
  4. Aggravated assault is much easier to prove than the intent required for Bank Robbery. Contrary to popular belief, local PD’s handle bank robberies all the time; they are the first responders. The FEDS can intervene, but they usually wait for the TV cameras. This is just a case of an HCP holder being a dumbass. I doubt anyone was scared, it sounds like they just didn’t like his joking around. I expect the DOS will take his permit whether he is convicted of anything or not. Now you are aware.
  5. In Illinois at 17 you are an adult as far as criminal matters; you go to the big boy’s jail. Is that a different age in Tennessee? As long as it was really assault and not domestic violence I wouldn’t think it would stop him, but it’s hard to tell. Looking through the list of those turned down for a permit, some misdemeanors show up.
  6. My opinion… which is worth exactly what you are paying for it…. You are bound by the state and Federal laws of where the transaction takes place. Therefore you couldn’t make the transaction even if you went to an FFL in another state. You would have to either return to Tennessee and make a private transfer or go to an FFL in Tennessee.
  7. It’s simple to do if you can justify about $300 for a small cabinet and media. And have an air compressor that can deliver 90 PSI of air and maintain it for however long you want to blast. NO NOT use sand. Use the finest glass bead you can get. If that’s more than you want to spend, take it to a shop. Many shops will have sandblasters, you need to find one that has a fine glass bead blaster.
  8. I know I’ve seen this somewhere before, but I can’t find it. I’m a Toolmaker so I have all the standard stuff like a million different screw drivers, punches, hammers, vises, etc. I’m wondering about the tools I need to order, stuff I can’t go out and buy locally. Do I need special barrel wrenches, sight tools, gas block tools, metric crescent wrenches… ??? Or just anything in general I need to order.
  9. Don’t shoot it. J/K… I could not help it.
  10. 1. You are not required to notify the Officer. 2. Common sense should tell you whether it is a good idea or not. 3. There are cops that don’t know the laws. 4. People (including friends) will tell you things that never happened.
  11. I surf several gun forms and there are only a couple that really stand out; and TGO is one. I’m talking about the graphics, colors and text. In web design do they not teach that if the pages are hard to read people will not use the site? I picture some of these so called “Web Designers†as grade school kids with fat canyons. Are these guys totally clueless? Just because the site is about guns, does everything have to be black and gray or hard to read? Thanks TGO for maintaining a clean, easy to read site. That is all… carry on.
  12. That’s great. Who’s knows, maybe she is smarter than we gave her credit for… she has a job offer.
  13. Pricing. As Joe pointed out the overhead is high. I buy a lot of guns but have never been able to buy any at the guns shows held around here. It appears to me that they just tack a premium onto the store price. I’m not saying that isn’t right… it's just that after they get charged a bunch for tables and have to transport firearms; it’s a real cost. I go there to check out guns I might want and then get in contact with my dealers. Find a Pro-gunner that will donate a venue. Let member’s set-up tables for their guns and all their junk. The problem is that buyers want good prices and the dealers need to make money. Figure a way to make that happen and you will be onto something. I’m picturing something like a “Bud’s Guns†only instead of being on-line, we can walk in.
  14. Order the application from the ATF Fill it out and send $30 Wait Wait And wait some more Then send copies of your license to the places that give you discounts.
  15. Just helping you out for next time… a C&R cost $30.
  16. With a C&R…. MidwayUSA $317.40. MidwayUSA $204.24 You save $146.36 on that purchase.
  17. If she has an attorney he should be disbarred.
  18. I’m looking at the one that is $270. I really can’t see what the difference is between it and the $590 one (besides $320 ). But the higher priced one isn’t offered for the 700. I’m looking for a recoil reducing stock. I know it is free floated and drops off abruptly at the barrel, but didn’t know if they are the same size in that area.
  19. Does anyone have both to compare size? I am looking at the Blackhawk Axiom stock for my 700 VLS (Heavy Barrel). They say it fits a “Short action 700 BDL†The VLS is a BDL type, but there is no mention of the heavy barrel in any stock ads I have seen. So I’m wondering… does the taper of a regular barrel start after the end of the stock, so that a BDL stock would fit either? I emailed Blackhawk a week ago, but they didn’t respond. Rifle Stocks - BLACKHAWK!
  20. Correct. You can remove the “property†issue and you still have the “justified use of deadly force†issue whether you are on your property or not. It has all the same requirements as before. You can confront someone stealing something and they become an attacker. <O:p</O:p However, the castle laws about whether or not you can shoot someone on your property do not give you carte blanche to kill anyone in your house or on your property. In some cases they can remove the question of whether you were in danger of death or great bodily harm. <O:p</O:p For example… You confront a burglar in your home and you shoot him. Being in danger of death or great bodily harm may be assumed. However, you come home and find the 15 year old kid next door burglarizing your home. He runs for the door trying to escape and you fill him for of holes. I contend you will find yourself standing trial. <O:p</O:p I think most of us will agree that you should be able to shoot criminals. I know I have no problem with it. But that doesn’t mean its okay under the law.
  21. It looks great. What media are you using? I use the finest glass bead that MSC has and have never had any problems. It will remove any coating (or bluing) and leave a great finish.
  22. As far a safety from theft or fire; I have insurance for that. I don’t like keeping my rifles in cases in the closet and would like to see a simple, thin, wood display case that mounts to the wall and would hold five or six rifles. Doors that will keep dust out, No drawers or bookshelves needed, just something that looks better than a steel rack. I have not seen any and thought about making my own. Hurry up and make it so I don’t have to do any work. EDIT: You might also what to post this somewhere besides “New Member introductions”. I just stumbled across it in a search.
  23. You guys that think she violated some law need to help me out here. I am fully aware that you can’t use deadly force to protect property. But you are going to have to point me to the Tennessee law that says you can’t pull a gun on a person committing a felony on your property. (Auto burglary is a felony in Tennessee is it not?)
  24. It’s a point that is always argued. Truth is it is moot. Magazines are cheap; change them every few years. I have responded to several home invasions and one of them still gives me nightmares. They happen so fast. Anyone that thinks they can deploy and unloaded handgun while someone is coming through the door is not in touch with reality. I don’t have any kids in the house. All my weapons are loaded and accessible, and still hope I never have to find out if I’m fast enough.
  25. I am a dog lover and a Doberman owner. I hate people that let their dogs run free. If I had my way they would spend a week in jail for each offense and the dog would go to a rescue. I can shoot a criminal and go eat lunch. But a dog would get a second chance.
