Anyone have one of the Remington or Westinghouse made MN’s? That would be cool to have in a collection.

Now I’m confused. If I’m in Wal-Mart and hear “Code Blue†does it mean they need the defibrillator or the bomb squad?

Trigger time will make you a better shooter as long as it is accurate enough to keep you interested. If it’s a POS that can’t shoot a group you have wasted your money because you won’t shoot it. IMO shooting double action requires more discipline and will make you a better shooter. I bought a S&W 617 because it is the same size and weight as the larger calibers and is accurate.

New web site for the Mid-South Guns & Gear Expo ... Feedback wanted

You have great skills when it comes to web sites. Clean, easy to read, and easy to navigate. Other forums (especially gun forums) should hire you. -
How and why to get your C&R License.....
DaveTN replied to a topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
C&R is not a license for selling guns. You are responsible for logging the gun and keeping track of any transactions. You can’t do a background check because you don’t have the ability to. You can sell and ship to other C&R holders. If the person does not have a C&R it is like any other firearm. No, having a C&R does not open your home to a surprise inspection by the ATF. They can make an appointment to check on you or your book, but I have never heard of them doing so with a C&R holder. -
So it was just a cop going the extra mile to help out a victim? Good for him, I would hope if my guns were stolen I would get a detective like him working the case.

A fair value for a 6†686 round butt pre-lock with Hogue grips in excellent condition is around $500. I have seen them listed under $400 (they don’t last a day) and you will see them listed on GB at over $700 (they don’t sell). Things that add to the value are the original box with the serial number, Magnum grips, etc. The K and L frame S&W’s were the most popular revolvers when cops were carrying revolvers and are probably the most popular home protection revolvers of our time. The 686 came on the scene in 1980 and dominated that market. The stainless guns are popular because unless the stainless steel has deep scratches in it, they can be made to look like new. Lock-up, Cylinder gap, end shake, damaged forcing cone, flame cutting, bent ejector rods, side plate and frame damage are all things to look at. There are plenty of detailed articles and threads as to what to look for in a revolver. Check out the S&W forum. Good luck with your deal. The cost of .357 Mag ammo.

I love a good legal discussion. Whether it be gun laws, search and seizure, vehicle stops, probable cause, DUI… whatever. Your ideology is as welcome here as anyone else’s. But some people get all emotional on the hot topics and the bizarre statements, outright lies, and name calling comes into play. In law, we discuss the way things are; not the way they should be. We don’t have a justice system, we have a legal system. Cops make mistakes just like everyone else. And when they do there is always recourse. Knowledge is key and there are plenty of people here that have real life experience that may help some of those that want to know what to do or what the laws are in a certain situation. If you are just looking for a pat on the back when you say you have 2nd amendment rights there are plenty of websites for that. You will find many here that will do that for you. On the other hand there are many that are in check with reality and will disagree. No point in leaving if you can carry on a normal discussion without attacking the other person or reducing the discussion to name calling. Which it seems is always the way the threads involving what cops can and can’t do end.

RIA 1911 Officers model (3.5") IWB Holster
DaveTN replied to inspecting1's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I have a SuperTuck (M&P Compact) and it is very well made. I put it on and I laughed out loud when I looked in the mirror. I looked like a shoplifter. I guess if you are built right you could wear it with a shirt tucked in; but if you are heavy forget about it. It does work well with my shirt out though. Its holster is Kydex and I hate Kydex. I didn’t know about the D.M. Bullard when I ordered mine. You might what to take a look at it if you want leather. I haven’t seen one other than in pictures, but some of the forum members have them and have given good reports. -
How and why to get your C&R License.....
DaveTN replied to a topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
It is, but CMP was created by an act of Congress. They don’t play by the same rules everyone else does. Even in California. The south store is in Anniston, Alabama and is worth the trip. You get to pick out what you want instead of the luck of the draw. -
I apologize if you think I was giving you crap or coming to the defense of anyone; I can assure you I was not. I simply thought from your post you had a source better than Wal-Mart and I was asking about it.

ATF KILLS TN FIREARMS FREEDOM ACT!
DaveTN replied to GLOCKMEISTER's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I’m not sure who you think “Us†is; but you would be wrong. Most LEO’s, Military, and gun owners in general are law abiding citizens of this country. They are not going to take up arms against other Americans. They are the people that would put you in prison if you tried. -
NEED TO FIND ELITE TACTICAL SYSTEMS OWNER
DaveTN replied to a topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
How’s that working for them? That’s how it works in the criminal world. I was lucky enough not to get involved in his scams. But I’m still really curious how he kept from getting arrested on criminal charges. I’m not talking about charges relating to guns or anything the ATF would be investigating; I’m talking about theft or Felony Theft by Deception. (This is “Theft by Deception†in Illinois. I don’t not what the proper name of the law would be in Tennessee. The amount would make it a felony.) He tried to use this forum to rip people off. -
If you have a source cheaper than Wal-Mart for WWB; we would all like to hear it.

I need to buy a new gun in the next couple of weeks. I was about to order an AR kit, but now I can’t decide if I want that or one of these new S&W .22’s. Anyone have one yet? If so tell us what you think. Any forum dealers have them in stock yet?

Homeland Security Officials to Restrict Gun Carrying
DaveTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
You have read of all kinds of lawsuits against individual Agents of the Presidential Security Detail? Post one. -
No, that’s why I laughed out loud when I read it. You can Google the most dangerous cities in America and look through all the results. (I did) Memphis will be on all the lists; Nashville was on one; I didn’t see Chicago on any. Both Memphis and Chicago are dangerous cities. But if someone wants to make the ridiculous claim that allowing guns makes a city safer; Memphis and Miami didn’t get the memo.

Homeland Security Officials to Restrict Gun Carrying
DaveTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Do you know that? Do you know that the Presidents Security detail is not immune from criminal or civil liability? If so, how do you know that? -
I would find out. If you are out in your car and find the need to use deadly force; I would not want to have a .410. Since you just want something for the car I would look at more conventional handguns.

Is pointing a gun always considered using deadly force?
DaveTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Good God, I would like to know from some real cops if this really happens around here? “Review boards†and “Indictments†for pulling a gun?? Sure… cops can’t go around waving their guns out the squad windows at anyone walking by; but if I felt the need I pulled my gun and I didn’t have to answer for it unless someone made a complaint. (Which I never saw happen to any Officer over a gun being pulled) You need to give an example because short of pulling a gun on you for no reason at all; I can’t think of a situation where it would be a problem. <O:p</O:p Making sure you and the other Officers stay safe is not "Cowboying". It’s tough enough to make the decision to use deadly force. I can’t imagine being in a department where you face a board for pulling your weapon. What department is this? -

This 40mm adapter will fire (18) .22’s all at once. That should be an experience. XM1822 -
ammo for a destructive device
DaveTN replied to nightrunner's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I don’t think so. I’ve seen plenty of 20mm ammo at the gun shows for sale. -
I’m certainly no economics or marketing guru, but I have to believe that supply and demand will rule. We just saw that happen with EBR’s. The price doubled with the Obama scare. People were buying AR’s that had been selling for $700-$800 and were paying $1500 or more. The minute that one of the manufacturers breaks ranks on the price fixing; the others will fall in line or go under. There is and will always be a market for overpriced guns, that is why you see some used guns selling for more than new retail; there is no market for overpriced ammo. If the war ends and the demand drops, manufacturers will (I assume) be in competition again. It may be a while before we see decreases because of fear; but that can only last so long. We just saw a forum dealer that got ripped by his supplier. He took a big hit because of the outrageous pricing. We also saw an ammunition web site do it. I like to think they will not survive those decisions; but we will see. This isn’t like the gas companies where they can get away with price fixing because we have to have their product and the government is willing to stand by and let them commit criminal acts. We don’t have to shoot. And those that can’t afford it won’t. I had the money set-aside to start reloading just to try it out. Dillon press, the whole works. But I looked at it every way from Sunday and I couldn’t see where I would save a dime. Even if that were the case the same people would be price fixing. But I’m not making an argument; I do not know. I just hope I am right.
