B O Y C O T T!!! ALL restaurants that serve alcohol....
DaveTN replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
This has been beat to death in other threads; I see some reposting their responses so I will add mine again. I will not be a part of boycotting any innocent business owner. As has been stated; there is nothing they can do. The state saw fit to trample the rights of the business owners with the smoking ban, even when it would cost some businesses a heck of a lot more than what you are suggesting. They could do nothing then and they can’t do anything now. If you don’t want to sit on your hands and do nothing; then don’t. Get a law passed that gives absolute immunity to the business owner in the case of a shooting in their business. The state of Tennessee has seen fit to give the okay on carrying guns in bars; they should be prepared to step up if something goes wrong. I must admit though the math part of this thread is pretty amusing. -
You would need to believe that first. There is no barrel extender on it, so its as accurate as the gun was before you put it in that contraption. Why would you pay $600 plus the price of a Glock for that when you can buy a PLR-16 for $500 and have a rifle caliber?

We can't help but be divided. Some recognize the perceived rights of an HCP holder and some recognize the perceived rights of the business owner.

UPS......LEARN YOUR POLICY!!!!!!
DaveTN replied to timcalhoun's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well it would certainly save a lot of problems if you are correct. However, we would have to believe… 1. The ATF is wrong. 2. All the gun information sites we rely on for information are wrong. 3. Your interpretation of the statute is correct, and has been upheld in court. 4. The statue you are quoting is the statute a person would be charged under and no other statutes exist. If we have no duty to notify the carrier when shipping to an FFL; then the problem goes away. This is a question we need an answer to. If UPS seizes my gun to turn it over to the ATF, or I get charged I don’t want my only defense to be “OhShoot said it was okay.” -
UPS......LEARN YOUR POLICY!!!!!!

Federal law requires you tell them you are shipping a firearm. I refuse to lower myself to commit a crime because they don’t know their own policies. -
UPS......LEARN YOUR POLICY!!!!!!
DaveTN replied to timcalhoun's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Same thing happened to me at the Murfreesboro hub. I called UPS corporate and had to go through a cubicle drone and talk to a manager. He said the Security Officer was wrong in his interpretation of their policy, but because a firearm was involved he was not going to over ride his decision. -
Other than special “Collectors Editions†there is no such thing as an unfired Smith & Wesson. It was fired at the factory and unless they were cleaned off the powder marks are on the front of the cylinder. I have a model 36 that is about 40 years old and I shoot it all the time. It is one of my main carry guns. 40 years old is not old for handguns and dates it to when S&W was making revolvers that were better materials and quality than they are today. Shoot it and enjoy it.

BATFE ACKNOWLEDGES A NATIONWIDE DATABASE OF GUN OWNERS
DaveTN replied to Tim Nunan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I’ve recovered many stolen firearms that were returned to their rightful owners. All too often when the owners report a firearm theft they don’t know the serial number, or get it wrong. But if they get it right, the numbers were entered in LEADS (back then) and if the gun passed through the hands of cops; it got a hit. I have recovered stolen guns on everything from family fights to traffic stops. I have absolutely no care whatsoever if the Feds have my gun purchase information. At least I know they aren’t going to allow a newspaper to print my name and address like the state of Tennessee does. -
And every month we give the same answers. No, you can’t across states lines, a shipper wouldn’t do it even if you could, and yes you are suppose to pay taxes whether you do or not.

1. Video calls instead of just voice. 2. Free.

There is no logic; it’s about money. The government gets a bunch of tax money for doing nothing. Then there is a big industry built on the idea that many will pay ridiculous amounts of money to obtain items simply because they are illegal for the average citizen to own. The government doesn’t want you in prison: they just want you to pay your taxes.

It’s obvious that two rounds went off in that gun. How is that the guns fault? That is the fault of the reloader.

Any support for target shooting on public land?
DaveTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
You just watched almost every city and county government in state rush to see how fast they could opt out of Public Park carry; and now you think those same people will allow public land to turn into a free fire zone? I don’t see it happening simply because of the liability issues. But give it a try; can't hurt. -
Legally it doesn’t matter who owns the land if here is not way to enforce ownership. Living off the land and being in the great outdoors sounds real good…. Until the owner of the property puts bullet through your head and calls it a day. Walking around carrying a gun doesn’t necessarily make you safe; it may just make you a high value target.

There is nothing wrong with hunting for food. A “True Sportsman†implies that someone is hunting for sport; and that makes them no different that the guy driving that truck. Just saying…..

One of the selling points is that you can record 4 shows at a time per box, with Comcast it is two. I can do 4 HD programs at a time with two boxes and not have any loss. Does anyone even watch non-HD anymore? One thing that I just noticed… they don’t appear to have On-Demand with premium channels. I usually don’t record my movies I just watch them when I want with On-Demand.

New land that is free? Slaves on the east cost?

How Detroit, the Motor City, turned into a ghost town
DaveTN replied to TMMT's topic in General Chat
Our entire economy will follow if we do not recover our manufacturing base. There is no way around this. -
Good points. I’ve had two HD DVR boxes with Comcast that I returned because I didn’t like the way they were performing. Taking them two miles down the road is convenient. I wonder how AT&T handles a hardware problem. I would assume in this day and age they just overnight you a new box and have you return the bad one….?? I don’t plan on paying for installation and my house is totally wired with both cable and CAT5; so I really wouldn’t care how long installation took as long as it was done right. I wouldn’t consider it, but they have my wife’s attention…. $60 a month is a lot. TNTitan… that’s what I’m wondering about. There is no way you could stream 4 channels of HD TV programming at a time without a rock solid service. I assume they have a trial period?

(Tennessee) State Supremes say anonymous tips sufficient to detain drivers
DaveTN replied to TMMT's topic in General Chat
I don’t think this will really be an issue for most cops. If you roll up on the car that has been called in it won’t take long to find a reason to stop it. The real issue is going to come into play when someone dies because the Officer was waiting for a reason (other than the tip) to stop the vehicle. But it appears that the SCOTUS is going to do the same thing with this they have done with the 2nd…. Leave it up to the state courts and Federal Districts. -
Parking like that in a restaurant isn’t cool. But as far as the handicapped thing goes…. If I was dispatched to a store I parked in front. I didn’t care if it was handicapped or I had to park on the sidewalk. No way was I taking a handcuffed prisoner on a walk through the parking lot.

Anyone using this? I have never been able to find and alternative for my big azz Comcast bill, but this may be it. It appears that they are over $60 a month less on comparable packages. If the quality is there I may look at switching. Before everyone starts ripping on Comcast I will add this for comparison. My Comcast internet is so fast the numbers don’t matter anymore, it never goes out, 2 HD DVR’s that are constantly recording without any issues, all premium movie channels on-demand. It’s an awesome set-up but I’m paying over $200 a month because Comcast doesn’t have any competition. This package that appears to be close is $139. They are really pushing the cell and home phones to get a good deal, but I don’t need a home phone and I am happy with Verizon wireless. I had AT&T cell and it was terrible. I really wish Verizon had come up with this first. But I’m sure they will follow.
