I’m a former cop and I don’t think you are cop bashing. Look at my post #52. I am not suggesting that cops act with immunity. I am suggesting that a jury sees all the evidence and makes decisions based on everything that happened. Juries need to seek the truth, and to do that they need to have all the information. I don’t know what happened if Greece but if cops kill innocent people they would have to answer to a jury.

I watch Gangland. And I watched the episode on Nashville where the bang banger was bragging about how he just enjoys shooting people. Why is he not a target of the cops, why is he out walking around?

I agree with you 100% and have always said that our founding fathers would roll over in their graves if they knew how we have used their words to tie the hands of cops today. Except, I don’t think they would be stringing anyone up without a trial. Untie the hands of the Police and turn them loose.

Good grief I thought the liberal criminal huggers would start rippin' on me and quoting Jefferson and Franklin. You guys make me look pretty passive.

Who is going to do this killing? Are you going to go shoot bang bangers on sight? Or will Metro have an elite unit to do the killing? Do we just disregard the jury system all together? Short of vigilante drive bys I’m not sure how you guys intend on doing this.

I can kill someone that is an immediate threat to me and go eat lunch; I have no problem with it. But what is being suggested here is murder. Sorry if you think that is dumb. I have moral and religious values that keep me from killing someone that is not an immediate threat. But that’s just me personally; I don’t expect you to share them.

Gun control or not, we have the right to be armed.
DaveTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
But states do not claim states rights as far as freedom of speech. They will about guns. Depending on how the SCOTUS rules on the Chicago case; you may see Illinois do it. They may rule that cities can’t ban ownership of handguns, but they are not going to rule that you have a right to bear arms. Illinois will defy it and I suspect Tennessee would also. -
Yes, I recorded it but have not watched it yet. There is also a four part series on snipers that is listed under history on On-Demand that is good. I also set it to record the show about the M16. I walked by and caught part of it; they were filming at Sabre Defence in Nashville and showing manufacturing.

As everyone has already stated it has to go through an FFL. With the fees and shipping I have never needed to trade anything I couldn’t trade right here and skip the extra charges. Transfer fees and shipping can be $100. Unless you are dealing in collectables; I can’t see where you couldn’t make the deal locally. You have no protection from getting ripped off, other than what the person tells you and what other people say about that person. You pay your dealer the transfer fees and whatever is in the box is what you get.

I have no doubt it would work. I also have no doubt it will never happen. “Kill them all let God sort them out†makes us no better than them. If you are accused of a crime, all evidence is presented to the jury. All statements, evidence, previous criminal records, everything. If a jury decides something was obtained improperly; they can disregard it. They would also have the authority to sanction, fine, suspend or fire Police Officers that they determine have intentionally violated an innocent persons rights. If you are found not guilty the state will pay your defense costs. We get Judges that will interpret the Constitution in the sprit it was written. Not to protect criminals, but to protect innocent citizens. Yes, gang bangers do not fear going to prison, many young people know they will go at some time. Prisons will be a place no one wants to go to. They will be cells with no TV, no basketball playing or weight lifting. In the case of jail or prison overcrowding no violent offender will be paroled or get an early release while a single non-violent offender is in custody. It may be a bold stand, but at least it doesn’t bring us down to their level.

How would you know how I am thinking? My way is not being tried.

We are getting off topic. Execution is not an answer for gang activity.

Gun control or not, we have the right to be armed.
DaveTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
You are correct. We should have a right to be armed and protect ourselves. But if you tie that right to the 2nd amendment you have lost before you ever get started. -
Separate the political rhetoric of city administration from the cops on the street. Nashville is a city that is dependent on tourism; they will say anything to protect that. However, I have never heard Serpas say there is no gang problem. Gangs are not supported by pot heads buying a little weed. They are supported by crack, meth, armed robberies, car jacking, and intimidation. Legalizing pot while have little or no impact on gangs.

The Police have all the tools they need to deal with gangs. But there are two problems. One is where are you going to put them when they are arrested? Jails and prisons are already letting criminals go because they are overcrowded. The other problem is getting Judges that interpret the Constitution in the way our founding fathers intended. The liberal bleeding hearts are going to raise hell when gang members are targeted simply for being gang members. If you use the government’s numbers, 70% of the people in prison are there on drug charges. Not a single person should be released or get an early parole that is charged with a violent crime while one person that is charged with simple possession is in jail.

As long as you know what to change and what to leave alone, it’s just a matter of cosmetics. If you were going to reblue it, it would require a smooth blended finish that was then polished. But since you are putting a coat of paint on it I doubt it will matter.

I’m too old to run, so unless it’s a Tornado I’ll be standing my ground. Anyone that lives in Murfreesboro knows it’s a traffic mess on a good day. So I wouldn’t get much past my driveway anyway. But I do have a motorcycle and a Suburban if I need it.

What do I need to know?
DaveTN replied to HillbillyMafia's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Not that it matters for class III… but you can’t just buy an FFL. If you could I would have one. -
One ? about a HCP requirement caveat
DaveTN replied to fizik's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
It doesn’t matter if it’s “fair†or not. And no, anyone of us could not get a DUI anytime. People that don’t drink and drive don’t have to worry about it. People need to understand (young people especially) that it’s not about driving drunk; it’s about BAC. No one gives a rolling rip down a razor blade if you “think†you have a high tolerance to alcohol; all drunks think that. If you get a DUI you have bigger problems than getting an HCP. You will not be considered for many good jobs, it can also knock you out of a security clearance. I was Police Officer when the current Domestic Violence laws went into effect. Our discretion was taken away and basically if we went out on what had been referred to up to that point as a “family fight†was now something different. No complainant was required and an arrest was usually required. I know of many people that really didn’t deserve to be arrested for domestic violence; I have never seen an innocent person arrested for DUI. You might see plea deals being made in a domestic violence case for a reduced charge or court supervision with a dismissal after treatment; but banning you from a carry permit on a domestic violence conviction is also Federal law. I don’t think the Feds would recognize an expungement. Just as the state of Tennessee won’t recognize an expungement for restoration of gun rights for convicted felons. You guys can talk all you want about having records expunged and having your records cleared, but arrest records are never gone. If you apply to be a cop, or many other jobs that involve a security clearance, they will ask you if you have ever been arrested, the date, charge, location and the disposition. They will find the arrests and you will probably not be considered if you don’t disclose them. You started this thread more than a year ago. Did your friend get his permit? -
But them all. Full size, compacts, big revolvers, small revolvers, rimfires and 1911’s; everything is application driven.

I’ve owned and carried probably 100 Smith & Wesson handguns over 30 years. I have had to send a gun back once. I don’t know that they will warranty everything on a used gun, but they will warranty a lot. They also have excellent customer support that will be happy to discuss any issues with just a phone call. I have owned 4 M&P’s. I owned a full size and a compact .40, sold them off to buy something else and then decided I wanted them back. I called Joe at Hero Gear and his price on new was less than some were asking here for used; that’s a no brainer. To answer your questions…. Will S&W fix a used gun? I have not had the need to try it, but I have seen many posts on various forums by people that have done it. What do I think about their warranty service? Only had to send a gun back once and they sent me a paid shipping label and fixed it promptly. I have called them several times with questions and they have taken the time to fully discuss anything I needed. Smith & Wesson makes the best handguns in the world. They got a black eye with the sigma (that’s why it is always brought up in an S&W thread) but they were trying to get a share of the bottom feeder market. Unfortunately they got it. Shoot a PM to forum vendors before you buy used.
