  1. Then No, you can’t. Call Remington and see what they tell you. I suspect they will tell you that your rifle is a .308 and that is all you can use.

    FNAR v. M1A?

Sorry for not understanding. If the history of the M1A doesn’t appeal to you and you want a .308; you might want to take a look at the DPMS LR308-AP4 in .308. Also, at 34 inches collapsed it doesn’t meet the 30†requirement you stated in your other thread, but it comes close. You mean like the PLR-16? Great trunk gun by the way.
  3. We need to use some common sense. We have seen here many times that you can take data from one source and make it show whatever you like. That is exactly what you are doing. The link that you are using to validate your argument is titled “Statistics point to increase in crime during recessionsâ€. The story goes on to provide data to support that. However, you want to go to the end of the article and quote data (or lack thereof) from 80 years ago. So you want to disregard the facts in the article? Children that come from low income households are more likely to be involved with crime and gangs. Do you dispute that? Yes it is, and yes they do. If the country went back to work; crime would drop. That’s just common sense. Will there still be criminals? Sure there will always be those that live off crime; but many poor people want to work. The more jobs we lose the more crime we will have.
  4. Happy New Year man. Hope things work out better this year for you and all of us that need it.

    FNAR v. M1A?

What were the guys that kicked your azz using? What kind of competition? (Does it have to be an auto loader?)
  6. This isn’t in Tennessee but I bought a stock from these guys. I think they also sell blanks. Wenig Custom Gunstocks, Inc.
  7. During the time between the NFA of 1934 and the GCA of 1968 could a citizen legally purchase a machine gun? Could you get a Thompson or an M-14? And if you could did they cost 10 to 20 times what a similar semi-auto cost?
  8. Crime didn’t increase during the depression? I don’t know how to respond to that other than… That’s certainly not me. I have said all along the government can’t get us out of this; this is on us.
  9. I have been to Gitmo several times and had a great time. But I have never been in prison there, so I can’t answer that. If you mean keeping them in cells without TV and without the gangs having the ability to run the prison… then yes.

    1911 options

    1. Accuracy. Besides carry I use my guns for target shooting. I want a 1911 that is accurate at 25 yards. 2. Quality. Proper fit and finish of machined parts is not only required for accuracy, but will give you a weapon that is reliable and will last a lifetime. 3. Price point. There are guns in the $1000 range will give me want I want. The $500 range does not have the accuracy or fit & finish, and I doubt that guns in the $2500 range will make me a better shot. 4. Customer support. Things can go wrong with any gun. If it does I want a company that will take care of the problem. Customer support can also be more than fixing a gun, it can be having knowledgeable people that you can call and get answers to questions. 5. American Made. I support American workers whenever I can. So, no guns that are made overseas unless they are foreign military collectables. So… Smith & Wesson, Kimber and Colt. SA makes some very good 1911’s; they also make some that aren't.
  11. The root of the problem is jobs and the economy. And it’s only going to get worse until we decide to change it. That’s impossible. 5% of the citizens have carry privileges; we should have a very low crime rate.
  12. Criminals either don’t think they will get caught or just don’t care. Adding years won’t help that. Especially when they know the prisons are already overcrowded and they will get out early anyway. Make prison a place no one wants to go to.
  13. It’s a safety issue. All documentation shows that they are not the same. The fact that someone has not had a rifle blow up in their face doesn’t mean the rounds are the same or that users should treat them as the same. Because most .223 rifles are of modern manufacture this is not as big a problem as the .308 vs. 7.62 NATO or the 30-06 mil sup vs. modern 30-06; but is still something to be aware of. A user needs to be informed of what he is shooting and what the manufacturer recommends.
  14. Let me help you… It was in Lebanon about 5 years ago. Officers had the wrong address on a warrant and entered the home of an elderly couple. The old man pulled a shotgun and an Officer killed him. If I remember correctly the Lt. in charge was indicted, but charges were dismissed. The wife settled a lawsuit with the state for an undisclosed amount. It was a tragic accident.

    Question...

You should give discounts to whatever special groups you want. If you don’t want to; you shouldn’t. For many departments it is a violation of department policy to accept discounts or free stuff. (Nothing is free. ) When you say you are always being asked; are you being asked by Cops and Firemen? I would give discounts to Cops, Firemen, and Military if I could afford to because I have had two of those three jobs and I respect what they do. But I would do it because I want to; not because others do it. As far as the cops off duty carry issue… its pretty comical to hear one special group arguing about what another special group gets when the average citizen would get arrested he he did it.
  16. If he “walked†it was because he was protected by “qualified immunityâ€; that is something we don’t have.
  17. I would think it would be cheaper and easier to sell it and get what you want.
  18. Reverse.
  19. You guys waste too much time flipping pages; I’m only on page 3.
  20. That’s one possibility. Here’s another… if you are in the presence of bad guys committing a crime that badge may get you shot. You would just need to decide which scenario would be more likely. No one is ridiculing the OP as he is asking for opinions. That isn’t without good reason and doesn’t seem juvenile to me. It is the exchange of information he asked for. You are arguing that those who wear them aren’t attention Ho’s; they simply want to identify themselves. Okay, then the question isn’t about badges, it is “Is identifying yourself as carrying a gun a good idea?â€
  21. What they would think of those or the fact that if you are displaying that you are probably open carrying? Wearing that badge is not impersonating a Police Officer if that is what you want to know. I guess most would just have a good laugh.

    Rifle ranges

Yes. The range is 328 yards long. You can set up targets wherever you like. It’s an unsupervised range, so you just need to get everyone to agree to a cease fire.

    Rifle ranges

Take Exit 105 off I-24. At the end of the ramp turn right onto 41. Go about a half a mile to sixteenth Model Road, turn right. The range is about 1.8 miles on your right. It sits back off the road, watch for the sign. I’d meet you there if it wasn’t so cold. TERRY WALDEN GUNSMITH, 1862 SIXTEENTH MODEL RD, MANCHESTER, TN 37355. PHONE: 931-728-0223 FACILITIES INCLUDE: OUTDOOR PISTOL (50YDS), OUTDOOR RIFLE (300M)
  24. If you kill an innocent person you aren’t going to get off. You are going to prison and the victims family will take everything you have; leaving you in jail and your family with nothing.
