  1. Almost 30 years.
  2. Is this an eyesight test? If not, Post a full size picture and tell us any markings or other information you have and it will probably be identified.
  3. Don’t use a Dremel tool on a new Kimber. You will be sick as a dog if you put an idiot mark in it.
  4. I would be interested in seeing it or reading about it from a mechanical standpoint. A standard 1911 won’t let you engage the thumb safety without the hammer cocked. Pulling that hammer back would be a monster pull for a thumb safety lever. With what you are describing he is carrying with the hammer down on a round. Unless I’m not understanding what you are saying.
  5. I do, on Smith & Wesson’s. But they are for the range; you can’t carry them. I guess someone could do a trigger job on a Colt as well, but a Python (I have owned three) out of the box isn’t going to be as smooth as a S&W competition gun, and the trigger pull is much longer.
  6. He cocked the hammer back on a 1911 by pressing down on the thumb safety? And then he fires it by pushing on the hammer? If that is what happened; what did he say was the point of all that?

    Ive got $500

M&P 40 for the nightstand or a 40C if you also want to carry it. Besides being better quality than either of those; its American Made.
  8. Presented with those choices I wouldn’t have to think twice. You can’t sell a gun that your wife bought for you. She may say its okay; but she’s telling a bold faced lie; she would never forget it. I wouldn’t own a Glock; so I say sell it and get something really nice. I have owned many 1911’s and you can’t go wrong with a Kimber. In the Ultra size I owned an SIS. The only negative thing I could say would be on the size of that weapon in general. They are carry guns only. They aren’t good for target or range use. EDIT: Oops… didn’t read far enough. Conrgats, you will be happy with a Kimber.
  9. I’m guessing the owner of the Outpost will be disappointed to hear that.
  10. I called On-Target today at 3PM to see if they were open and had lanes open. I figured with the weather they would be pretty busy. They were open and said they had lanes available. Cool… I got ready, packed all my gear up and arrived over there at 4:30…. They were closed. I wonder if someone got shot or something. Because I know they wouldn’t tell customers they are open and then close.
  11. It will still be available it will just have another name on it. I think all those Philippine 1911’s are made at the same place.
  12. Paper ignites around 450 F. If the gun was held at or near that temperature for a long period of time (more than an hour), it could cause problems. But because the room did not burn I would guess that didn’t happen. Smoke damage wipes off. Any change in the metallurgy will be indicated by color changes in the finish that won’t wipe off.
  13. Do they stop the clock when you stop to pick your nose?
  14. Call Remington at 800-243-9700 one of the choices on the recording is the Historian. I called them on an 870 and they gave me the manufacture date and what configuration and options it shipped with.
  15. Couple of inches in the Boro. My drive from Shelbyville was pretty entertaining. I-24 westbound is supposed to be shut-down at the Boro due to an 18 car pile-up.
  16. Hope he never has a squib.
  17. That’s why it is ridiculous for anyone to consider this; there isn’t anything they can do. And it shouldn’t have to come to this. I don’t know why no one has filed a suit or whatever they need to do to test this. I also don’t think you will find an attorney that will assist you in planning a felony and tell you he will represent you if you commit it. Since you would be a test case, you would be taken into Federal custody and tried in Federal Courts on Federal Weapons charges. And I personally believe that you would end up in Federal prison. They might let you stay out through the several years of appeals processes, but maybe not. To me this is a States’ Rights issue and the state should prevail. That’s the same reason that I am reasonably sure that the SCOTUS nor any other Federal agency is going to tell any state that their citizens can strap on a gun and walk down the street. But I could be wrong.
  18. I agree. 600 grit is not polishing; it is removing metal. Also a feed ramp has an elliptical shape. By using a casing you are just knocking the bottom out of the shape.
  19. They can rule how they like on McDonald but that still won’t allow citizens to carry in Illinois. It will have no effect on the kind of problems we are having in Tennessee. No federal Court and no arm of the federal government is ever going to force a state to allow its citizens to carry anywhere. You have 2nd amendments rights or you don’t; there is no middle ground. We don’t have 2nd amendment rights in most states. The Chicago case will not change that. They court may rule that the city can’t outlaw handgun ownership in their own home, but they sure aren’t going to rule on carry. We have never fought a war over the 2nd amendment and never would. We have fought a war over States Rights. I’ll take that bet on the crime rate. It won’t go down any and I’ll hold up Memphis as an example.
  20. Nope, I have fulfilled my obligations and then some. I do not live in fear and do not feel the need to carry a gun everywhere I go. I do not have the protections that I had as a cop; so I will leave law enforcement to them. If you want to carry a gun and be the protector of the people; that is admirable. But go sign up at your local PD to start the hiring process and see if you can make the cut.
  21. I’d take a .40 over a 9 any day for a carry gun. I don’t own an XD, but can’t you buy them for that new? Does the XD warranty transfer to the buyer of a used gun?

    Circuit Judge

Taurus may not have got the memo down there in South America, but they might want to talk with Todd Brown.
  23. You don’t need to get the scope high; you need to get it forward. You can search for scopes mounts for that particular model, but it usually comes down to having a scope mounting rail installed. Hold the rifle naturally and have someone measure from your eye to the point on the rifle where the scope needs to be to not be hit by the ejecting shell. That is the eye relief you need and will determine if you can use a rifle scope or will need a handgun scope. You could also have a side scope mount added.
  24. Thanks, picked one up.

    Firearm Sales

As far as I can tell you would be legal, but I would find out the name and number of the FFL and call and ask them. Some dealers won’t touch an out of state transaction unless it is going between FFL’s.
