I couldn’t get past the trigger pull on a Sigma, but that’s just me. I would go with the M&P. But anything’s better than a Taurus.

Needing help with finding law
DaveTN replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I carried a copy of both the vehicle code and the criminal code in my pursuit case. Do your LE friends not have a copy of that with them? Now a days I would think it would be on the in-car computer. Is that not the case? The link that MidTennChip posted is what I use. But I have never found a link to research case law, and without that you can’t make a legal argument. -
I've declared WAR on carpenter bees . . .

Those are the males and they can’t sting. Snatch them right out of the air. Its good practice for speed and eye/hand coordination. Disclaimer: Females usually won’t bother you. But if you grab a female you will realize it very quickly. (Tests your reaction time). -
First LEO encounter while carrying
DaveTN replied to inspecting1's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
We have all given our advice based on our experience countless times on this issue. It will always be the same. We are on a gun forum. There are those that will somehow see notifying the officer as a violation of their rights, there are those that will see an Officer disarming them as a violation of their rights. It doesn’t matter that the state doesn’t recognize the rights they are referring to. It also doesn’t matter to them that the Officer puts his life above any perceived right they think they may have (and that they would do exactly the same as would any reasonable person). That Officer will simply be labeled a rogue cop and needs to be fired. Tennessee law doesn’t require notification and that’s that. Tennessee law also makes no special conditions for how or when a person carrying a gun is disarmed. Permit or not it’s the Officers discretion. I am a former cop and I will notify for three very simple reasons. 1. Respect. I will be respectful of any Officer that stops me and I expect the same from him. 2. Making conversation about the permit or guns might get me out of a ticket. 3. I have been there, done that, got the T-shirt, and have firsthand knowledge of how to survive a traffic stop without a lot of drama….. Or how to get lock up and throw in jail. Depending on the mood I am in at the time. The driver has just as much input on how a traffic stop will end as the Officer does. -
If a militia had no agenda and was totally legal; they wouldn’t be a militia. Would they?

Follow his instructions. If he wants to disarm you he will give you instructions on how it is going to happen. -

I miss C R Specialties in Kansas City, MO
DaveTN replied to E4 No More's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I got a C&R so I could buy my stuff at Midway. You can’t price your stuff at Midways site and then expect your local dealer to match their price; many of the locals are buying their stuff from them. I pay more for my guns at local dealers than I can get them for from Buds. I buy from Buds when my local dealers can’t/won’t get what I want. If we don’t buy from local dealers they won’t survive and we won’t have them. Then all the big discount stores will do the same thing Wal-Mart does once they run all the local competition out of business; raise their prices. The gun market makes no sense. There are dealers that charge ridiculous amounts for stuff and seem to sell. Take a trip over to the Firearms for sale section and see how many used guns are at prices higher than you can get them new from a dealer for. Makes no sense. -
It depends on your body shape more than the holster. I have a SuperTuck and I had to laugh out loud the first time I tried to tuck it. It’s not magic. If you are fat that P229 will make you look like a shoplifter; you might as well open carry.

Anybody know what this is about?

Full story here.... Guardians of the free Republics tied to Texas radio station / The Christian Science Monitor - CSMonitor.com -
There won’t be any showdowns between cops at the Tennessee border; feds will come and go as they please. Although that would make a great movie wouldn’t it? The ATF has issued a statement that they will continue business as usual; they will take you into custody if you violate Federal weapons laws. Until there is a court ruling; the state can’t stop that from happening. And that is the problem. You need a manufacturer or a dealer to sell you the item. And the minute the ATF has evidence that happened; the Manufacturer/Dealer will be arrested and all firearms components in question will be seized. No FFL holder is going to do it. Their license would be gone no matter how the court ruled. This isn’t even a gun issue. It’s a commerce clause issue and the people that passed this legislation have no intent on allowing you to be able to buy the items in question.

What if you were walking your dog and needed to send out an SOS; but you didn’t know Morse code? Would it be good for that? -
MOA can define accuracy with giving the distance. If you use 4†group, then you need to define the distance. A 4“group on a target can look pretty good. That is until you find out it was shot from the 7 yard line. Minute of Arc and Minute of Angle is the same thing with the proper term being Minute of Arc.

This bill is good thing. Right now I work for a living. But I’ve been thinking I would like at lay at home on the couch and watch Oprah. This bill tied with a couple of others I’m sure Obama has in the works may allow me to do that.

Unless of course you are a Tennessee resident and do not maintain a residence in Indiana. Then when the local cop that has noticed your Indiana plates for the last six months decides to pop you on that; you could end up with a weapons charge as well. Seems like a lot of potential legal problems and cost to save $50 every three years.

What the 2nd ammendment does NOT say.
DaveTN replied to Will Carry's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
You mean more states should follow suit and make it a crime for a citizen to conceal a firearm on them or carry one in their car? Many states do that. -
Employers say NO to guns- got any sources for "ammo"?
DaveTN replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The liability issue is real; therefore you won’t win. They knowingly let you carry that gun and you shoot a co-worker, either accidentally or on purpose and they will be sued. I have always argued that this issue and businesses posting is because of liability and has nothing to do with guns. If the state would pass legislation that puts all of the reasonability on you and none of the reasonability on the business owner; I doubt it would be a big deal. But I doubt that will happen because the lawyers don’t care who is at fault; they just need a payday. The business is the deep pockets. You can’t make the argument that an “event†is unlikely. If that was the case you wouldn’t need to carry a gun. You put them in the trick bag when you told them. -
I don’t know if I’m allowed to post links from other forums, so I sent you a PM. If fire protection of guns is your main concern you really need to do some homework.

I have an idea for a huge range complex and gun shop the likes of which have never been seen around here. Know any millionaires that want to invest?

No, not offhand with a handgun. If they could they would be making a living at it.
