  1. It will just be a rubberstamp of Heller for the rest of the country. It was illegal for a citizen to carry a gun in both Tennessee and Illinois before Heller or McDonald, and it will be illegal for a citizen to carry after these decisions. You will have an individual right to own arms; but how and when you carry them will be a state right. I’m curious as to what kind of entertainment we can expect from Daley if they shoot down the Chicago handgun ban.
  2. I wanted mine for long range target shooting (1000 yards, although I have not got to shoot it past 300 yet). I went with the 700 VLS in .308. I wanted the 26” heavy barrel and a wood stock. It’s topped with a Leupold 6.5X20X40 LR Scope. I’m not impressed with plastic or laminate wood. I would like to find one of the old beautiful walnut stocks to fit mine but haven’t had any luck because of the heavy barrel.
  3. I agree. I hope I never have one. And for those that say there is no such thing as an accidental discharge; sure there is. What do you think a slam fire is? Dropping a weapon? Or the simple act of handling a Glock.
  4. Help you do what? I’m not stupid enough to try to stop a bank robbery; I hope you aren’t either.
  5. Here is someone that won a primary for the U.S. Senate with no job, no money, no name recognition, and didn’t even campaign.
  6. Speed loaders are for competition; not for carry. You won’t carry them. They are big, clumsy, slow, and no matter what kind you use the rounds can fall out unless you wear a speed loader pouch. I know; I both carried them on duty and used them in competition. The chances of you getting a chance to reload are rare. Don’t count on the act of reloading to make up for caliber or capacity. Then I would suggest she try a J-Frame S&W with .38’s. Steel or stainless steel. Not aluminum, Titanium, Scandium or unknownium…. Steel. The weapon will be heavier, but the recoil will be less. If she wants a semi-auto that’s good, But a semi-auto you can trust your life to that is low cost is rare; one that is smaller than a 9mm is nonexistent. You can get some quality semi-autos in the $500 price range. Sorry… but I just think her chances of survival in a robbery attempt are better not having a gun than pulling one that won’t work or only wounds the bad guy.
  7. Robert, are you looking for somewhere that will show you exactly what you want after you have told them you are totally clueless about what you are doing? If you are… don’t read the rest of my post; just try to find a gun dealer that is “niceâ€. . . . . . . Good… you came to the right place. This forum will give you a little bit of an education before you go to the shop. Don’t buy your first gun based on how it looks (There will be plenty of time for that later). If it is going to be your carry gun buy it based on its ability to perform when needed to save your life. While people die from being shot by .22’s they are not a good self defense round. They are not very good at making the bad guy unable or unwilling to fire his weapon at you… your goal. I wouldn’t buy a gun made by Taurus. But that is simply because I am fortunate enough to be able to afford something better. However…. If I was buying a revolver it would not be a .38 only; which is what the Model 85 is (as far as I can tell). I would be looking at a .357Mag because it has the ability to shoot both .38 and .357Mag, and I would be looking at Smith & Wesson or Ruger. I would ask you the following questions and recommended something based on your responses and your experience. 1. What is the single most important purpose of this weapon. (Pick only one.) a. Plinker… I will practice at home or at the range with it shooting cans and targets. b. Range Gun… I want a highly accurate gun to shoot in competition or at the range. c. Home Defense… I am looking for a gun to keep in the house for protection in case of a burglary or home invasion. d. Self Defense Carry Weapon… I am looking for a carry gun that I feel is reliable and is in a caliber that I feel is reliable to stop the threat of an armed attacker preparing to take my life. Don’t look for (e). There is no “all of the aboveâ€. You will find that is why you will be buying more guns. How much will you practice? How many times a month or year do you see yourself and your wife going to the range? What is your budget? And I know that’s a hard question to answer. Basically what I am saying is that you are looking at three different guns right now and trying to find them cheap. (A gun for you, one for her, and a shotgun for the house) maybe you should be looking for one quality gun for your first gun since you are talking like it will be a carry gun. Good luck and welcome to the forum.
  8. Okay, thanks.
  9. Shipping a firearm to another Tennessee resident is legal as long as you notify the shipper you are shipping a firearm. I tried it with a shotgun and UPS reused to ship it. I went to the hub at Murfreesboro and they got the “Security Officer†since they didn’t know what to do. He said their policy was that it had to go between FFL’s. He said a private individual could only ship if they were sending it to an FFL or manufacturer for repair. I went home and called UPS HQ. I eventually talked with a supervisor and be said I was not in violation of their policies, but that he would not over ride the decision of a Security Officer at a hub on a firearm shipment. That guy even first refused to accept a handgun that Smith & Wesson had sent me an overnight prepaid label on. When I asked “So you want me to call Smith & Wesson and tell them you are fusing to ship a gun they are shipping on their account?†He told me to wait a minute and then came back with this BS about it being okay if you are sending it to a manufacturer for repair. I don’t know if that azzhat still works there, but I have given up on shipping; I just buy and sell locally. I refused to let his ignorance cause me to commit a crime. Shipping without notification is a crime.
  10. Street Justice.
  11. I thought about it but didn’t do it for two reasons… 1. I would be all about the economy; everything takes a back seat to that. I am a patriot and I want Americans go back to work. I expect each generation to leave their kids as well of or better than they are. My generation has failed at that miserably and the next generation isn’t doing any better. But unfortunately so many Americans now work for the foreign company’s here; I don’t think I could get elected. 2. Can’t pass the background check. Like many people that would be good politicians I have skeletons in my closet. Yes I smoked pot and I inhaled. (Didn’t like it and didn’t smoke after I grew up, but that doesn’t matter when someone is trying to tear you down.) Oh good God man. You are merely thinking about running for office and are lying to us already. If I were considering running for office I would delete all my posts here and try to make sure no one found out who I was on here. I would be dead meat if my opposition found this site…. As would most of us.

    ANZIO 20MM

I have fired a lot of 20MM. But the weapon was bolted to the deck of a ship. I can’t imagine firing one that isn’t bolted down.
  13. You shouldn’t have to have an HCP period….. But you do. You are using language (Domain, Protection) that have to do with the use of force and have nothing to do with what weapons you can have or where you can have them. Ignoring the 2nd amendment doesn’t make sense; but that is what our state has chosen to do.
  14. That’s what keeps me from getting one. Murfreesboro won’t allow a business in a residential area anymore.
  15. I have a Remington 700 VLS in .308 topped with a Leupold VX III 6-20 X 40 LR scope. It’s a very nice set-up, but I wish I would have went .223. Maybe I shoot more in range visit than most, but 50-100 rounds with this rifle can be brutal. My .308 DPMS Panther feels like a .22 after shooting the bolt. 100 yards in not really long range; the .223 would be fine. I don’t hunt, so it’s just punching paper. 300 yards is the longest range I get to shoot at without going to Illinois. To me the .223 is worthless for anything except punching paper. But it will be my next bolt.

    9mm revolver

They would if there was a market for them. But they are a novelty. When you can have a small revolver that shoots .38 and .357Mag; there is no need for 9mm or .40. These small carry revolvers aren’t range guns; most users don’t shoot them enough for the cost of ammo to be a big factor. My Tupperware guns are .40S&W and I think it’s a great round. But they would be traded off in a second if someone made a .357mag semi auto round that wasn’t necked like the .357Sig.
  17. Doing what? Many CAD operators and Programmers are hired from within. If you can find a job as an entry level machine operator it may get you into a Programmers position. Your local Job office hasn’t sent you anywhere or given you any leads?
  18. I don’t think you will find a reliable mouse gun at any price, even in full-size and compacts that kind of reliability is hard to find. I would suggest a Smith & Wesson J-frame revolver. They are reliable, no slide to mess with, hundreds of different grips available, maximum concealability, and you can shoot 38 or .357Mag. Have you tried one of those?
  19. Delta Dust is recommended for carpenter bees. I don’t have carpenter bees, but it is the best stuff in the world for wasps.
  20. My S&W 617 with different grips.
  21. She didn’t think that out enough. She should have been holding an AR. Jobs, the Economy, Guns.
  22. I know. But you know I’m right.
  23. Yes it does.
  24. Mouse over the link; if it’s from the CA and you don’t like that, don’t click it. I usually try to put text in the thread but like OS says, sometimes it just requires too much formatting. Also, there are some pages that do not allow you to copy and paste.
