If you are worried about civil liability; I wouldn’t do it. Maybe one of the lawyers here can address this, but I don’t think you can have people sign away your liability.

 Well your Honor….. We don’t have bars in Tennessee, so I didn’t know when I was standing in one.

People rip people off everyday and no one says anything about it. We have a few members here running gun businesses out of the sale forum. They continually post used prices higher than you can buy new. Yet in order to stay members here we have to keep our mouths shut while other members get ripped. Some people can justify anything if they make a buck. Anyone that thinks they can trade a gun in and get what its worth is delusional. (They are the same people that think they can trade a used car in and get a good deal.) I have gun dealers that I do business with, consider to be friends, and give me good deals when I buy. But I don’t try to trade guns in or I would just be pizzed.

I don’t think this gun will be a big hit because of the round. The cost of ammo is almost as high as 9mm. I think the ammo will go the way of the .380; there isn’t a huge market, and the supply is limited, so those that do buy it will pay a premium. This gun is not a carry gun. It is a plinker or target practice gun. But the cost of ammo doesn’t make it as attractive as a .22LR for a “Trigger Time†gun. I expect the price to be in the $375 range or below by the time they get to local dealers. Watch Buds, I bet they sell them at a normal "street price" when they get them. I looked at them and thought it would be a cool range toy. But I think if I was going to pay that much for ammo I would just go with 9mm. Or if it’s just a “Trigger Time†gun I’ll stick with my .22LR’s. Of course I still may have to try one out.

Everyone was a newb once. I would have just called back and talked to someone else.

Just as you protect your life by carrying a gun; some business owners see this as protecting their business from lawsuits. Others are simply are anti-gun. They know what they are doing when they post the signs. To threaten them with the loss of business is laughable; that is a dog with no teeth. Stiffing your server is taking it out on someone that has nothing to do with it; the person that posted still get their money but we look like azzhats. If you feel that strongly about it, talk to the owner in a calm rational manner without threatening his business and see what happens. Also we need legislation that exempts business owners from a lawsuit if an HCP holder is involved in a shooting in their business. I doubt that will happen because so many legislators are lawyers; but it’s worth a try.

Certainly it is. And no matter who does it or how good it looks it will stick out like a sore thumb to a collector.

could the guy in the background of this picture use deadly force?
DaveTN replied to Ghooge2008's topic in General Chat
Certainly. He could legally execute the armed robber. (Probably in all 50 States, although I don’t pretend to know that for sure.) Short of someone actually shooting at you that is as clear-cut as it gets. Would I do it? Not unless I had some reason to think he was going to start shooting. I would be putting the teller and everyone in the bank in danger. Tennessee allows you to kill prowlers; I don’t think they will get real upset over an armed robber. Just kidding… don’t shoot the neighborhood kids; it won’t turn out good for you in most Counties. -
He says he did three years in the Marine Corp. He didn’t do them in the condition he’s in now, so something pretty bad must have happened to him. Whoever set him up for this is pretty freakin’ mean. They should be ashamed.

Chicago's tough new gun ordinance goes into effect
DaveTN replied to jeremy155rr's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
About your views on the 2nd amendment? Okay. When you can travel anywhere in this country without being jailed for the simple act of carrying a loaded gun; carrying will be an individual right. Until that happens the carrying of guns will be decided by the state because it is a State Right that the SCOTUS nor any other branch of the Federal Government has jack to say about. -
At 15 that may be harder than buying a Garand from CMP. CMP is the government; they don’t play by the same rules everyone else has to go by. They will ship rifles right to your door… even if you live in California. All you have to do is meet the requirements. But I went to Anniston, AL and handpicked mine.

Really? I was on a cruise ship where you could rent shotguns and shoot off the ship. So if a ship sailing under a foreign flag wants to have rifles on-board locked in an armory; our government doesn’t allow that? There are no maritime safe passage laws or anything? This is really bad news for me because I was thinking about retiring and becoming a shooter for a cruise ship.
-
Is this really an issue, or something that needs legislation? I assumed that ships were unarmed by choice. Is there some kind of law that keeps ships from having an armory with rifles stored in it?

If you are driving from Chattanooga, I would checkout Hero Gear; you will be passing within 15 miles of it.

Chicago's tough new gun ordinance goes into effect
DaveTN replied to jeremy155rr's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Literacy tests interfered with people’s right to vote; you don’t have a right to carry. It’s a privilege, just like a driver’s license and they can charge you, just like a driver’s license. -

It’s the cop’s discretion. The whole idea is that you can’t quickly use the weapon. Again… in real life this will depend on how and why this came to be an issue. -

You would be subject to Illinois law, which would be pretty much the same as Tennessee law… Unloaded, inaccessible, and in a case. Illinois FOID laws only apply to those who maintain a residence in Illinois. I would think the Chicago handgun ban would be the same; but I do not know that for sure. They have to allow you to pass through; but I don’t know the specifics of what is allowed as far as stops. If you, a Chicago cop and your firearm all came to meet; it would depend on the circumstances as to what happens. -
Don’t they have auxiliary cops here?? Become an auxiliary Police officer or deputy. You don’t have to stay in the car and you get in on the action. You just don’t get paid for it. If you don’t like it… quit.

Great idea. Be careful though, your opinions on some things may change drastically if you get some actual experience.

So after you ran off the Bible Story book salesman you had some bad luck and then the skies opened up and kicked your azz. And now you want to do something mean to your neighbor. Does that pretty much sum it up? Just go stand by him. Maybe he will be collateral damage when you get hit by lightning.

I couldn’t get my bolt to come out when I pushed the bold release. I removed the stock and I had to push down on the end of the bolt release lever; it was stuck. If even minimal pressure is put on the front of the bolt release lever, the release button can’t push it back; it is stuck in the slot and I have to push on the back of the bolt release lever. Is the end of the bolt release spring supposed to just be lying on top of the bolt release lever? There is a hole in the forward end on the lever, but there isn’t anything in it. I cleaned it thoroughly with powder blast sprayed it down with Break-Free CLP in case there was some dirt in there. But it didn’t do any good; it still sticks. It’s a fairly new 700 VLS with the X-Mark Pro Trigger…. If that matters.
