  1. You (and others) have probably done the best thing you could do to get rid of the 30 day policy. I imagine someone from the store will be along to comment. The 30 day policy might be in case there is something wrong with the gun and they feel they need to return the buyers money. Having said that I’ve never really understood why someone would consign a gun with a dealer. Nothing against dealers, it’s just that unless you have some crazy pricing on them; they usually sell online. As you said you sold it yourself from here; so they got paid for nothing.
  2. You have said that before. I work in manufacturing, was an Applications Engineer for a machine tool company, have travelled extensively to businesses all across this country, have seen many company’s come and go, and I have never heard anyone in a company that was leaving say it was over taxes. Can you please explain where you are coming from on this? The union stuff is just I am not pro union but I hate to see it thrown out (as it always is) in discussions about our economy. It is generally being used by someone that is trying to make an excuse for turning his back on his country. And no it’s not just Obama; years ago we had a big influx of Indians that were brought into this country to work in the technology fields because they would work for far less than Americans. Many in this country are willing to sell out their country for a buck. We see it right here on this very forum from some that actually seem proud of doing it.
  3. This isn’t a Union issue; don’t try to turn in into one. How many IT or Tech guys do you know that are union? The consumer decides where the jobs will be. Buy stuff made here and the jobs stay here. Buy stuff made in other county’s to take advantage of the cheap labor rates and the jobs will go there. This ain’t rocket science.
  4. Correct, the people of the City of Chicago have what they want. The politicians are elected by voters that want to lie at home and watch Oprah while getting a government check. Oprah tells them guns are bad and that outlawing guns may save their babies from being killed while they are jacking the local liquor store. Midstate and downstate Illinois are good people just like here in Tennessee. Let’s hope Memphis doesn’t end up causing the kind of problems (Gun Laws) for Tennessee that Chicago causes for Illinois.
  5. Or Smith & Wesson in Massachusetts . Many pro gun companies and people are in states that don’t recognize the 2nd. But I can’t for the life of me see how boycotting them can help. Tennessee isn’t going to win any awards for acknowledging the right to bear arms either.
  6. "laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind... as new discoveries are made... institutions must advance also, and keep pace with the times" "But it will be said, it is easier to find faults than to amend them. I do not think their amendment so difficult as is pretended. Only lay down true principles, and adhere to them inflexibly. Do not be frightened into their surrender by the alarms of the timid, or the croakings of wealth against the ascendency of the people... Some men look at constitutions with sanctimonious reverence, and deem them like the arc of the covenant, too sacred to be touched. They ascribe to the men of the preceding age a wisdom more than human, and suppose that what they did to be beyond amendment. I knew that age well; I belonged to it, and labored with it... I think moderate imperfections had better be borne with; because, when once known, we accommodate ourselves to them, and find practical means of correcting their ill effects. But I know also, that laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths disclosed, and manners and opinions change with the circumstances, institutions must advance also, and keep pace with the times... Let us follow no such examples (of the European monarchs), nor weakly believe that one generation is not as capable as another of taking care of itself, and of ordering its own affairs. Let us, as our sister States have done, avail ourselves of our reason and experience, to correct the crude essays of our first and unexperienced, although wise, virtuous, and well-meaning councils. And lastly, let us provide in our constitution for its revision at stated periods. What these periods should be nature herself indicates. By the European tables of mortality, of the adults living at any one moment of time, a majority will be dead in about nineteen years. At the end of that period, then, a new majority is come into place; or, in other words, a new generation. Each generation is as independent as the one preceding, as that was of all which had gone before. It has then, like them, a right to choose for itself the form of government it believes most promotive of its own happiness; consequently, to accommodate to the circumstances in which it finds itself, that received from its predecessors; and it is for the peace and good of mankind, that a solemn opportunity of doing this every nineteen or twenty years, should be provided by the constitution; so that it may be handed on, with periodical repairs, from generation to generation, to the end of time, if anything human can so long endure." Thomas Jefferson, July 12, 1816
  7. Our founding fathers were not so arrogant or narcissistic to believe that what they had written would be the Master Plan for all eternity. They put in place a system that allows for change. They also put in place a system to interpret the Constitution. Slavery is abolished, voting rights are implemented, Liquor banned, liquor ban repealed, term limits, etc. Things change. Our founding fathers did not have the vision to see the automobile, automatic weapons, Space Travel or nuclear weapons. If they did they would have addressed it. But they were smart enough to know they couldn’t think of everything and put a system of change in place. Things change…. Judges legislate from the bench when legislators don’t do their job. Get use to it. No, our Constitution doesn’t need to be “Blown up and rewrittenâ€. Our founding fathers left the door open for change; they just didn’t make it easy. Life is not “Fairâ€. We are governed by people and they make mistakes… we have to live with it and try to fix it when we can. I doubt our founding fathers would agree with the Supreme Courts stamp of approval on eminent domain. I would have never thought they would go that way. But I guess I live with it and hope the city, county, or state doesn’t decide they want my property.
  8. If you or someone you know has access to a glass bead blaster that is the best way to remove the bluing. It just takes minutes and get in all the corners and crevasses, while leaving a smooth uniform finish. I used extra fine glass bead; it will remove the bluing without damaging the surface. You can hand buff the steel if you like. I used a bench buffer and buffing rouge. The key in buffing is to keep the surface uniform. If you buff too much in one area and "dig in" it will show up like a sore thumb. That is why I use a bench buffer with a wide wheel instead of a Dremel buffer. I refinished a S&W Model 19 that was in good shape mechanically, but cosmetically was a basket case. Here is what it looked like before refinishing…. . Yoke after bead blasting… . After polishing…. . . And after bluing.... . . . .
  9. I like the one where he drops cigarette ashes all over the gun he is showing. That is just class. Being ignorant should hurt. BTW… I wonder where I would find one of those “Beeankee†belts? "Looking forward to hanging out with James Yeager again."
  10. The people in Illinois are just like the people in Tennessee; they want to be able to carry guns. They are fighting for carry privileges like Tennessee has. Does anyone here think that Memphis reflects the rest of Tennessee? No, it’s one of the dirtiest most dangerous cities in the nation. Chicago doesn’t reflect the rest of Illinois either. So your idea is to not do business with companies that have nothing to do with gun rights, but happen to be in states that restrict citizen’s gun rights? You won’t be doing any business in Tennessee then because being a citizen in Tennessee gives you no right to carry a gun; it’s a crime. You also won’t be buying many guns, because most gun manufactures are in states that don’t recognize 2nd amendment rights.
  11. I shot a 1†group at 300 yards with my 2†Model 36 while standing on my head. You guys are so full of
  12. Smith & Wesson Model 41 holds that title.
  13. No comment on the gun, but the round is not capable of making an armed assailant unwilling or unable to fire his weapon at you. That’s just my opinion based on using the round and responding to shootings. Point instinct shooting is important to survive a shootout. But just where are you going to place that .380 round when an assailant is pointing a gun at you and your adrenalin is rushing like something you have never experienced before?
  14. Ask….. you have nothing to lose. You are in an employment at will state; there is no legal recourse down the road. Now is the time to get some things changed. Sent from my DELL using a keyboard
  15. I would simply ask the AG what would keep a legal resident from being detained. Not having ID on you is not the same as not having ID. Oh and by the way…. Lay heavy azz fines on employers that hire illegals. They won’t stay if they can’t work.
  16. He learned a lesson. I won’t drop the slide on a pistol, or the bolt on a rifle on a live round, in the house. Those that say guns don’t fire unless you pull the trigger don’t know about slam fires. It’s good no one was hurt but its too bad he had shoot a hole in your roof to learn that.
  17. You are describing a privilege not a right. So burn your HCP card and open carry. When you get stopped and the cop asks for your HCP card hand him a TFA card. Check back and let us know how that works out for you. I have already played that game I can save you some money if you like. So please don’t give me this bs of what we “allow†People want money and jobs. Our economy is in desperate trouble. If that is not fixed the Constitution and the 2nd amendment will be meaningless. We need leaders that will let the American people know that the choice is up to them. Political leaders can’t fix the mess we have gotten ourselves into; only the people can. I would vote for the President of the Brady Campaign for Governor if I thought he had a plan to bring good jobs to the state. Still hung up on that term “States Rights huh? Deal with it; we fought a war over it. maybe you remember hearing about it. We have a President that is out of control. The United States Congress is letting him do as he pleases. You better hope there is such a thing as States Rights because right now it is all that is standing between us and him.
  18. It certainly can. The “Right to Bear Arms†is totally ignored by most states including Tennessee. Tennessee looks better than some states because they allow it for special people that are willing to pay the tax. All this fanfare because the SCOTUS decided to hear a couple of gun cases. Does a citizen have the right to carry a gun in Tennessee? No, you do not have a right to do that. Can you carry a gun in Illinois? No, you do not have a right to do that. And all this while the SCOTUS stands silent on the right to bear arms. I was in Illinois when the McDonald decision was released. I ask my friends if they were going to rush out and buy carry holsters. They didn’t think it was funny. How in the world can you have the right to own guns but not the right to bear them if you are making the argument the right to own comes from the 2nd amendment? You can’t. But the SCOTUS dared not to cross that line because of States Rights. Make any argument you want about the Constitution but the issue of States Rights tore this county apart long after the founding Fathers were dead and changed things forever. States Rights is a good thing not a bad thing. Our federal government is out of control. States Rights is the only thing that will keep Obama from driving crap like his health care plan down everyone’s throats. If you want States Rights AND you want rights under the 2nd amendment; move to Vermont or Alaska they are the only two states I know of that recognize the right to carry. However I think Alaska sees it as a State Right. It is cherished by many Americans including the anti-gun people. But the fact that you can read doesn’t make it clear. We all read what we want into it. The pro gun people quote the last part of it and the anti-gun people quote the first part of it. I know this… I don’t want to tie my ability to carry a gun off my property to it.
  19. Put whatever name on it you like. We fought the worst war this nation has ever fought over it and the name they put on it was States Rights. I’ll continue to use that; it’s to the point and everyone understands what it means when they hear it.
  20. There is no economic war being fought by government. When you take your wallet out and buy a product; you are fighting the war. If you choose to buy a product from another county you are sealing your fate. This isn’t rocket science and you don’t need a degree in economics to understand it. What do you want to get rid of…OSHA, EPA, Workman’s Comp, Employee Insurance, 401K, etc, etc?? I’ve worked in manufacturing for many years and seen many company’s come and go. A company leaving over taxes would be rare if it happened at all. They leave because of cheap labor. Most Americans will buy based on price; not quality or what it is doing to their economy. The only time they want to be patriotic is when it doesn’t cost them anything. This is a problem that won’t get fixed until people to understand what the problem is. Sure you can blame unions, taxes, and government, whatever….. Anything to not have to look in mirror and see the real cause. (Not you personally)
  21. If you are talking about the 03, it’s pretty straight forward. If you are talking about the 01, you can’t have one in Murfreesboro anyway; or I would already have one.
  22. Go to bed at 9:30. Then you can deal with your problems in the morning when you are well rested.
  23. And what are they going to do? The issue that you don’t address is that the majority of the people in this country voted for Obama. Why? Because half were more interested in seeing a minority elected President than they were in electing a good President and the other half wanted the government to support them while they lay at home on the couch watching Oprah. . Next it’s going to be a woman…. Because after all that is more important…. Isn’t it? I don’t disagree with the idea that something needs to be done. But I don’t think we have the Patriots in this country anymore to do it. If we did we could get something done at the polls. We (as individuals) control our money. We control where and when we spend it. We control what businesses and countries get it. That is the biggest weapon we have and as soon as people realize that we can dig ourselves out of the mess we got ourselves into. They wouldn’t need to send in troops. Cut Federal aid and they fold…. Same as always. As long as we have control of our ballistic submarines; a war will not be fought on our soil. Not with another country anyway. I don’t know what it was like during WWII either, but I have had the privilege of talking to those that were there. They had the patriotism and the manufacturing tools required to win the war; we have neither. There is no economic war…. It’s surrender. We are handing our manufacturing base (our economy) over to other countries. We can’t blame our government or another county; we have no one to blame but ourselves.
  24. It doesn’t matter what he wants it won’t get to the point of anyone taking up arms. He is allowed to do what he has done at the Federal level because the United States Congress is a bunch of sellouts. Troops and cops won’t take up arms against Americans…. It just won’t happen on any kind of scale. </O:p He was elected by the poor (the largest voting group) Our economy is failing. Him or someone just like him (Free government hand outs) will be elected again.
  25. The Federal government isn’t going to send troops anywhere. We already fought a war over States Rights and we aren’t going to fight it again. The state of Illinois and their court systems will determine what will happen with the Chicago gun ban. They could very well tell the Feds to go pond sand. What will happen if they do? Nothing. You are on one side of the States Rights issue or the other. I am on the side of States Rights. I am not going to go whining to the Feds when a State does something I don’t like. The Federal government does not have the authority to enforce the 2nd amendment and that is why the SCOTUS gave the states the final say.
