Could your friend have been under 21? They can’t just take someone in and book them on a charge that would be a simple ticket unless there is more to it. If he was a minor in possession, his license was suspended or revoked, he was refusing to sign, he was too intoxicated to sign, he was uncooperative or resisting, he had a warrant, etc. In Illinois when we booked someone into jail a Command Officer was present and looked over the charges. Does that not happen in Tennessee?

What are you getting at???
-
Same thing happened here.

Removed because I was looking at pictures that had absolutely nothing to do with the topic instead of paying attention to what was going on. I apologize.

Yes, but you also said….. So he could be confused on which of your instructions he should follow.

Cheaper Ammo (Note: this is not a reloading post)
DaveTN replied to perstare's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I don’t think there is such a thing as good prices on high quality personal defense ammo. I even get a C&R discount and it’s not much compared to other items. I haven’t been able to beat buying local. I buy my WWB range ammo at Wal-Mart and my PD ammo at Bass Pro. I haven’t found any on-line sources that will save me more than a few pennies on PD and they all cost more than Wal-Mart on WWB. -
Sticking it to the Feds? I didn’t think they were trying to stick it to the Feds: I assumed that Tennessee legislators think that allowing open liquor in a car is a good idea. So the way you understand it is that if the money is allowed to go somewhere else, then whoever it is going to now will want more money, and this will cost taxpayers more; therefore allowing open liquor in cars is a good thing?

Federal gun free school zone act of 1995
DaveTN replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
States are standing up to the Feds. It the reason the SCOTUS has not ruled that you can strap on a gun and walk down the street per the 2nd Amendment. They can’t; it’s a violation of State Rights. We fought a war over States Rights; we aren’t going to fight one over the 2nd amendment. They have tried to fight over other things like speed limits and liquor laws; but usually give in when the Feds reduce their money. Isn’t Tennessee taking a hit on Federal highway funds so that passengers can drink in cars? -
I understand where you are coming from. I can shoot a criminal and go eat lunch; but I won’t kill an animal for sport. I don’t have anything against those that hunt for food and I know that we would have a problem if deer hunting were not allowed; it’s just not for me. As far as hunting if I needed to eat; I’m a shooter not a hunter if an animal is near me and I have a rifle in my hands it doesn’t have much of a chance. But things are beyond out of control if that happens.

If you can afford it and can take the time off work; I would fight it. You are already paying so you might as well get something out of it. You will learn something about the traffic court system and watching some of those people defend themselves is priceless; it is great entertainment.

I prefer a hammer. I have a model 36 in my carry line-up and I have never had any problems with snags. A hammer is an absolute necessity in a range or competition revolver. Plus shrouded revolvers are butt ugly.

I served in the ANG after I got out of the Navy. There is a war going on; I wouldn’t join anything thinking I won’t be deployed. Why not go full active duty? You can join the Navy or Air Force and if you qualify you can be guaranteed a school after boot. Get a trade you can use when you get out.

I would arrest people on warrants (Where I knew nothing about the crime) and they would be in the back of the car running their mouths about how they were going to get the charges dropped because I didn’t read them their rights. I would say “Have I asked you anything?†and they would start explaining the law to me. These are the same people that get on forums and say the cops don’t know the laws. I still see on forums today people posting that the cops have to read you your rights when you are arrested. I would explain that I am not reading them their rights because I don’t know anything about the crime, and I am not going to question them. You are right…. Most of them couldn’t keep their mouths shut and started rattling off all the details.

Nope. The Animal Planet has an excellent show they run about dog bites. It is narrated by an Attorney that specializes in dog bite cases. Unless someone is attacking you or breaking into your home; you have no defense. He says he got into by accident because a friend got bit and ask him to take the case. He says you just don’t have a defense. The big problem is that the people that own these dogs that get loose and bite people usually don’t have to nickels to rub together. So you can sue them all you want; the only one that gets paid is your attorney.
-
Doesn’t matter if she did. You are lucky they didn’t sue you.

What law? The owner called On-Star and told them to shut her vehicle off. You think a law is required to be able to do that? What do you see yourself doing in an emergency that the government is going to need to track you or shut your vehicle off? Can you give us a scenario? What would you have done? Franklin and Jefferson could never have imagined the loss to this country (both in lives and in our economy) from a dirty bomb (or even possibly nuclear detonation) attack on New Your City (or Nashville). So don’t start quoting them. It has been. On-Star is owned by GM; that coupled with patents is probably why it isn’t available on other vehicles. Ford and one of the ricers (Toyota I think) were supposed to have a version of it this year. I feel lucky. Lucky that when I see a piece of technology that is saving lives or helping people (like On-Star) my first thoughts aren’t how are the cops going to track me or shut my car off. On-Star is a private product that is owned by GM. In these thoughts that go through your head; how are the cops going to gain the ability to control On-Star and start tracking you? You have a cell phone? Most everyone does today. If you do you need to remove the battery and throw your phone away. Because you can be tracked by your cell phone. Sometimes the CIA has even put a smaller battery in your phone you don’t know about. That way they can still track you if you remove the main battery.

Didn’t scare me a bit, I’m not the least bit worried about the cops tracking me or shutting my vehicle off. Since I worked a lot of traffic I have always wondered how many lives have been saved because the car called for help when the driver was unable to. Does GM not offer a “TinFoil Hat†model that doesn’t have the latest technology? And yes… the cops have already used On-Star to shut down a car. They used it in Florida when a car jacker was running with the victim’s child in the back seat. The Childs life was saved. I bet those parents were glad they had On-Star.
-
You couldn’t possibly know that about someone else’s dog. Most dogs are nice until they flip out and attack.
-
They are #1 on the list of fatal attacks. The CDC is the agency that tracks dog bites. http://www.cdc.gov/HomeandRecreationalSafety/images/dogbreeds-a.pdf
-
Oh no…. I have On-Star. So now when I go out running from the cops they will be able to shut my car off? That really blows. Don’t I have a right to run from the cops? I mean, who cares if I’m putting you and your family in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm…. aren't my rights more important?
-
I think if you are Arab looking or Muslim and they are looking at you as a possible terrorist; they pretty much can do whatever they want. You could put a device on an FBI vehicle but please make sure you are making video of it when they find out so we can all watch. Both those devices in that picture are pretty big. Which one was on the car? Is this the best technology we have? On TV they use little button sized devices.
-
Do you think that people who buy Pit Bulls don’t know that; or even care?
-
Sure, but that would be department policy; not state law. Is that even an issue; is there a Police Department that prohibits full time Police Officers from carrying off duty? Does Tennessee not have state law governing the carrying of firearms by Police Officers? I’m not arguing, I don’t know and I’m asking. I’ve ask this before and it didn’t seem anyone really knew.
