    UAE Caracal pistols

I don’t think getting Springfield Armory to become your U.S. importer, changing the name, and adding $200 to the price will work for them.
  2. I don’t walk where bears are without a rifle. However, I doubt that anything…including a bear… will continue a charge into 15 rounds of .40S&W.
  3. I voted for the 597. For accuracy I don’t think anything in that price range will come close; mine was a tack driver right out of the box. They do have a problem with jamming when new, but 1000 rounds through mine and it was fine. I wouldn’t waste the money putting a trigger on a $200 rifle, the 597 doesn’t need one and if your accuracy comes down to the trigger; you will be ready to move on up. The 597 is also closer to the size of a real rifle than many others in that price range. Most of them are sized for kids. Bass Pro runs them on sale with a cheap scope for under $200. Good luck with whatever you decide.
  4. I bought the LR-308AP4. I have had it for 3 years now and been extremely happy with it. I wanted it because (to me) the .308 is the ultimate rifle round. Mine has performed flawlessly and is a blast to shoot. The .308 in a semi-auto is not nearly as brutal as trying to fire 50-100 rounds of .308 from my 700 VLS. At first I thought I wanted the longer barrel. But when I went to see Joe at Hero Gear he put both the model I was looking at and the AP4 in my hands; I liked the AP4 much better. Apparently the street price has gone up because I see some for sale used for more than I paid for mine new. I haven’t shot mine past 300 yards because I haven’t had the optics on it to do that. But some claim it should be as accurate as my 700 VLS at long range. That’s a bold claim; someday I’ll have to find out. Iron sights are for handguns. I don’t use iron sights so that isn’t an issue with me. You would need some way to rig it off to the side to do that.
  5. Are all the mirrors still horizontal?
  6. Why are you asking this question? Was what you heard from friends and relatives the first you heard of this? Have you read about the history of the Glock problems? You need to understand the risk before you can decide if you want to take it. Are all accidental shooting negligent? Did all of those people pull the trigger? You have to be drunk on the Glock Kool-Aid to believe that a Glock (or any other mechanical device) can’t fail. Glocksters that have absolutely no mechanical or gunsmithing experience will tell you that in all cases the user pulled the trigger. They have no idea; they make themselves feel better by making silly sounding statements involving “buggers†and “bang switchesâ€. Did these people pull the trigger? You would need to look at each case and decided. That would be almost impossible to do since you will only hear one side. Has Glock settled lawsuits that involved the weapon firing without pulling the trigger? Have they had “Upgrades†because of claimed AD’s? Accidental discharges happen. To believe that that all AD’s are negligent is ridiculous. If you have one and claim the weapon fired without you pulling the trigger you will be moved from the Glockster category to the Nutcase category. It is impossible to document an accidental discharge but if it were done, it would simply be blamed on that weapon. If you or one of your family members is shot; it will be on you. Whether it is because of improper maintenance, improper handling, improper storage or from making modifications to your gun. Make sure you are informed on what you bring into your home. Glock has a reputation of AD/ND; find out if it deserves it.

    9 or 40?

I would guess for you the deciding factor would be ammo cost. 40S&W will cost more to shoot. Unless you have some disabilities the recoil difference between the two shouldn’t be an issue. (Assuming you are a 25 year old man in good shape.) If I was buying it for a carry gun it would be .40S&W. If I was buying it for a range gun it would be a 9MM.
  8. Don’t waste your time with a trigger job on a J frame. You can smooth them out a little but you will never get the trigger pull you can achieve on a K or L frame. You probably will end up with a J-frame that won’t fire when you need it. The heavy trigger pull is by design, if you don’t like it go with the Ruger if it feels better. These are both belly guns, not range or target guns. I haven’t shot the Ruger, but Ruger makes great guns. If I was picking a gun that size it would be an S&W Pre-Lock Model 60. Stainless steel in .357Mag….better get them while you can.
  9. Can you believe it?? I was thinking exactly the same thing you were. That’s why I thought I better put in “Pretty clear cut†to cover that.
  10. When you call the Police in Tennessee do you get to choose if someone gets arrested that just committed a felony? Why was the man taken anywhere if that was the case? I assume he was taken away to jail because he was under arrest? Help me understand how this works. Because where I was from you are not going to commit aggravated assault with a firearm and walk away because no one wants to get involved. Where was this?
  11. You would need a pretty clear cut shooting where being mentally impaired would not be a factor. If you were justified in shooting, but missed and shot an innocent bystander your BAC level could cost you years in prison and every dime you have.
  12. Well again, you are quoting someone else and using my name; so I think I’ll stop replying to you before this gets ugly. You obviously aren’t interested in an intelligent discussion, you only want to argue with anyone that disagrees with you and then you can’t seem to keep straight who said what. Don’t you know how to use quotes? Rambo??? No, none of us here claim to be Rambo. But you seem to think you are Clint Eastwood. Here is a quote (See how that works?) of what you said. The part about you not getting offended I guess is pretty much BS also. So I get it…. You would have shot the guy where he stood. You would have shot him in the hip which I assume would have drooped him to the ground screaming in pain. You then could have stood over him and made some Clint Eastwood quotes. Is that pretty close to how this scenario went down in your head? I did not say you were an Al Gore lover; that remark obviously went over your head so let me explain… I assumed you were merely being funny when you said you claimed you made up the term “Keyboard Cowboyâ€. Some say that Al Gore claimed to have invented the internet. That’s why I quipped “Are you related to Al Goreâ€. That is something much different that “Al Gore Lovingâ€. I am not mad at all. I took the time to respond to the scenario as it was presented to us. I make no judgments about whether it happened or not; that is a different issue than what someone would do.
  13. The bad guy was dead at the scene and the Officers actions were later ruled justified.
  14. Well I’m glad to see that being a criminal is based on where a person was born or raised. Those damn Yankees.
  15. It’s not a pistol caliber it’s .223, but the PLR-16 is a SBR without having to deal with the feds.
  16. Where do you come up with this stuff? I don’t have the numbers, but I’ll bet you anything .45LC is nowhere near .22, .38, 9mm, or .45ACP.
  17. This won’t end well. Have you saved up for your vacation? WHy have you shot someone with it? I think carrying a .410 as a carry gun is ridiculous. But that’s just me.
  18. Okay. Well first off you are quoting David not me. Secondly you are theorizing what you would do or what it would be like to be in a shooting. I have been there, done that, got the T-shirt. I have survived every armed encounter I have been in and I have never been shot. Every situation you encounter will be different. I am one of those that given this situation as it was described, I doubt I would have shot the guy. I will never get in an argument or a fight while I am armed… never. So I would not have responded with “Kiss my ass.†I also would not have approached the man; he was obviously nuts. So…. I have a man that is yelling at me to not come back. He has a derringer in his hand and he is standing in front of the doors of the restaurant. So I have three choices. 1. Do I draw my weapon and shoot him dead? Probably not when I’m not sure who or what is behind him. Is it really a gun or it is a cell phone? You better be damn sure because if what he has in his hand isn’t a gun you just killed a man over him telling you not to come back to a restaurant. 2. I move to take cover behind vehicles in the parking lot as I draw my weapon. I then see what he is doing. 3. I determine that he is not an immediate danger and walk to my car. Without knowing exactly what happened I would probably go with 2 or 3. However, no matter what happened I would call 911 and that man would be in jail. When I said “No Fear†I did not mean to imply that I would face a gunman without fear. I simply meant that I do not fear death. I also am not going to take a life because someone has put themselves in a situation where I can legally do so. And guys…. That is what I am picturing here.. An old guy that is scared of these loud mouthed bully’s and holding a gun in his hand. I don’t see that as an immediate threat and I do not want to make that argument in court or know that I took a life when I didn’t need to. We now know with absolute certainty that this guy was not going to shoot. If he was he would have shot the guy instead of letting him take his gun. Now let’s get to the funny part. Monkeys flying out of your butt?? Luck?? As I said I have been in the situation of facing an armed assailant with a gun pointed at me. I survived and luck had nothing to do with it. Just last week you had made the decision you were going to shoot everyone in the hips. Tea shot out of my nose when I read that. It’s those kinds of things that make it hard to have a serious conversation about shooting tactics on the internet. I can tell by your posts on here that you are confused and I doubt you would survive against a skilled shooter. You are confused about whether or not you are justified, you are confused about where you will shoot the person, you are confused about your equipment and weapons handling.
  19. No, that’s the point. And it’s why most departments use marked units for traffic enforcement; they are there to be proactive while catching the most dangerous offenders; the ones that are not only speeding but aren’t paying attention. Using unmarked vehicles or cameras and mailing out tickets is revenue generation from speed traps.
  20. Are you related to Al Gore?
  21. What point are we missing? I don’t see anyone arguing that the guy was right to pull a gun. Are you implying that because a gun was pulled and no one died, something went wrong? It happens all the time in real life.
  22. Traffic Enforcement or speed enforcement should be done by marked vehicles with the public seeing, and understanding what they are doing. Getting a ticket in the mail a week later is a “trap”. I’m not making an argument against it; just call it what it is. It isn’t Police work. –noun 1. a contrivance used for catching game or other animals, as a mechanical device that springs shut suddenly. 2. any device, stratagem, trick, or the like for catching a person unawares.
  23. This woman has a weekly column in a large newspaper and she doesn’t have and cannot afford healthcare insurance? She’s either not being honest or she isn’t a very good journalist.
  24. My point is that I find it laughable that MSNBC (or FOX News, or CNN or any other “Newsâ€) agency even pretends that any of us believe they are impartial. They don’t report all the facts and let us decide; they exaggerate chosen elements and then put their spin on it. If they want to fire/suspend him for violating company policy I have no problem with that. But please MSNBC… don’t insult our intelligence by pretending that this is a conflict of interest that would impact credibility you do not have.
  25. Not to change the subject, but if that is true why can’t we determine what (if anything) happened with the claim of the guy from (Colorado?) out of state that while passing through Tennessee, he was stopped by THP and his guns confiscated on I-40 near Cookeville?
