  1. We are concerned. This clown thought it would be a good idea to strap an AK pistol across his chest and go for a walk in a park. He did it because he knew it would make the news and in his mental midget mind he thinks he can win some kind of lawsuit. Our legislators have not limited carry very much as long as you are willing to buy a license. But stunts like his will not go unaddressed. I have a PLR-16 that is a pistol under Tennessee law. Does that mean I should open carry it? No, I know better. Open carrying it through the local mall would almost certainly end in an encounter with Police. I would expect that because someone that would do that is not of sound mind. His Tennessee HCP was revoked and he just got a Florida carry permit. I hope he screws up and ends up in jail or financially devastated. This is no friend of the gun owner.
  2. Welcome. I moved here from Champaign 12 years ago. I hope Illinois can work out some type of carry permit. If we can separate it from the 2nd amendment argument I think we may have a shot. (I still have family there and spend a lot of time there.)
  3. They look like they are related.
  4. No. My EDC’s are several semi-autos and a J-frame. My nightstand gun is a 4" S&W 686.

    would you rather?

Of those two I would probably pick the Savage. But I purchased a 700.
  6. You think the gun control folks don’t have that info…. or care? I have said all along… if you want to be able to carry, and you want to be an activist; tackle the real problem with carrying in businesses… lawsuits. Business people fear lawsuits more than they fear a shooter. Get the law changed so that a business can’t get sued simply because that is where the shooting took place (Deep Pockets). And I mean a real restriction, not that lame azz stuff they have for us. A restriction that does not allow for businesses to be sued unless an employee was involved in the shooting or the business was involved in some other way. With most legislators being lawyers I think it would be a hard fight; lawyers won’t want to give up a cash cow.
  7. I asked a Murfreesboro cop about this and he said the policy is to ask the person to leave. If the person refused (he’s not aware of anyone doing that) they would be arrested for trespass. I guess at that point they could be cited as well.
  8. I have a C&R, so I get reduced pricing from some of the on-line dealers. But I have never found anyone that is cheaper than Wal-Mart on ammo. Wal-Mart just doesn’t have much of a selection.
  9. Why would you be wasting time and gas? You can’t buy from an FFL so I assume you would tell the private party before arranging a meet. Since no one is ever required to sell to anyone; I would think you would address the age issue when discussing the private party sale.
  10. Heck no…. I would never paint a gun, that’s just wrong. You must be looking at the wrong post.
  11. Check my post #14 in this thread. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/handguns/12141-want-get-beretta-refinished.html
  12. You guys worry too much. This is no more than wishful thinking on the part of the application developer. People already use cell phones to report drunk drivers, etc. If the cops get to you in time you are screwed, if they don’t; they don’t.
  13. I will pull my weapon when I need to; not just because I am justified in pulling it. I will take an azz whipping before I will shoot someone. I will not be in a fight or running my mouth while I am armed, so it would require that someone be attacking me while I am trying to walk away. I carry a weapon to defend myself if I am attacked by a criminal; not so I can scare someone when I have let my mouth overload my azz. I will not risk going to prison and leaving my family alone, or financially destroying my family by having to defend myself in a shooting. Please don’t post stupid clichés like “It is better to be ….†Give specific scenarios and we can all give our opinions. They are worthless; but it is entertainment.
  14. One of the reasons I try to buy from the forum supporting dealers.
  15. If someone called you might be asked to leave and the manager might be asked to put the sign where it is noticeable if they want it enforced. But its mere speculation on anyone’s part here since there hasn’t been a verifiable case of anyone being cited for this yet on this forum. I don’t look hard for signs.
  16. I don’t see where your scenario is a “catch 22â€. Would a reasonable person believe they were in danger of death or great bodily harm? Certainly they would. In this state that is assumed in your home. A Prosecutor would need to prove that you knew or should have known you were not in danger and shot the person simply because they were there before you could have problems. (Keep in mind Castle Law is simply a legal presumption that you were in danger. However… it does not prevent a Prosecutor from removing that presumption if he can.) It has happened. It was in one of the TV shows about shootings. A guy came home drunk and headed for the bedroom. Problem was he lived one street over in an identical house. The homeowner engaged him in the living room and ordered him out of the house; he thought he was in his own house and continued moving at the homeowner. The homeowner shot him. I don’t remember if he went to court or not. The show was the same one that showed the case of a guy shooting his wife after she came back into the house and set off the alarm. There are very few situations where you can say a shooting would not end up in either criminal or civil court. Cops and Prosecutors can do what they like. If you are involved in a shooting a process starts that will determine if you go to court or not. Do not stand on the sidelines and watch that process direct you to court. We see these cases come and go. Some go to court; some don’t. Because of my training I never have the attitude that I can kill someone in a given set of circumstances; I always have the attitude that I must expend all reasonable options prior to pulling the trigger.
  17. No…. its very material. Only you will know if you were in fear of your life. Since no one else can know that, the standard is would a reasonable person in the same situation be in fear of death or great bodily harm. A jury will put themselves in your shoes and if they would have shot the person you are in good shape; if not they will send you to prison.
  18. There are many justifiable defenses to shooting an unarmed person. I’ll take an azz whipping over trying to argue any of them in court. It will be cheaper and I will get over it faster.
  19. The time to prepare for a shooting is prior to it. I am confident that if I have to shoot someone my shooting will be justified in any state in this country. While I don’t pretend to know the laws in all 50 states I’m pretty sure that they all allow for the use of deadly force if a Prosecutor, Judge or jury determine the person I shot was trying to kill me. I will never shoot someone to protect property, and can’t really see an unarmed person getting an altercation to the deadly force level. I am trained to look beyond my target. I’m not going to put myself in a situation where I am going to shoot an innocent bystander. Go through all the possible shooting scenarios you can think of. Have a solution that will both leave you alive and will not devastate you financially. Have a plan in case you have to use deadly force. If I have a clean shoot I’m cooperating with investigators from the beginning. But that is my decision from having been a cop and responding to shootings. You need to make those decisions based on whatever you are ready to take responsibility for. If I think my shoot might be questionable I have an attorney that I can contact any hour of the day or night. Even though mine is in another state he can handle things if need be. I’m not an attorney, but attorneys are Officers of the Court. I doubt any of them will be involved in hiding money or assets from the court.
  20. This isn’t a “state level†issue; it is federal issue. I would be interested to hear the opinion of the USAG on it, but the SAG opinion is really meaningless on Federal weapons charges. I have a letter on this issue from the Justice Department, so I’m pretty sure what his opinion will be.
  21. You have a link to clear that up? Because the info over at Rimfire is that this is just more junk built by Umarex (like the “Coltâ€). If Walther supposedly built this and Umarex is importing it; what does HK have to do with it?
  22. It can’t happen. States like California, New York, and Illinois will refuse. The worst war our nation ever fought was over States Rights….. It will not happen again. Can you truly not see that the SCOTUS has dodged this issue? They have had two chances recently to make a decision. Both times they have decided that you have a right to own arms, but the right to bear arms is regulated by the state. Send all the cases you want to the Supreme Court; they will refuse to hear them. If they decide to hear a case that involves them ruling on the right to bear arms it is because they are going to rule the state controls that. I’m not proud of the fact that I’m right, and I won’t be happy when you are proven wrong. But it just can’t go down any other way. The Federal government does not have the right to force a state to allow its citizens to carry guns.
  23. "States Rights" is alive and well. It is the reason the 2nd amendment has been battled in court for the last 75 years. You do not have a right to bear arms and you never will unless it comes from the state.
