Same here. I can get to work, but if we get more than 2†there won’t be anyone there when I get there; so I’ll stay at home. It was this time last year we had a decent snow. I live in Murfreesboro but work in Shelbyville. They came in and asked if I was leaving early because of the snow. I said I wasn’t worried about it. A few minutes later they came in and said they heard on the radio there was talk of closing 231. I was gone… driving in the snow is one thing; being stuck in Shelbyville is another. It’s a probably a good thing I left when I did. There was no removal equipment on 231 and it looked like a junkyard.

It’s a handgun, but if you have an incident you always run the risk of having problems with those involved not knowing the law. One person has lost his HCP over it and several other dumb azz acts. I bought a PLR-16 to throw in the trunk prior to Tennessee allowing us (HCP holders) to carry rifles. Even though I can legally carry it as a handgun I would expect it to end with way more drama than I like if I did it. Now I can just throw the .308 Panther in the trunk.

Anyone have some before/after bluing pics ???
DaveTN replied to a topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I sold it right after I did that. I love the look of blued guns, but they aren’t something I want for carry and I wasn't into collectables at the time. -
I thought I was supposed to buy batteries??

The weathermen are saying that the snow will start Sunday night and last through Tuesday; 3 to 5 inches. Think it will happen? How many of you will go to work if that happens?

Thanks… I’m 180 out from Jamie on everything. If I remember right Jamie said he is better trained than most here and had probably forgot more than most here know. So I’m certainly not in the same league as Jamie; he is in a legend in his own mind. However… I would have to go back and look but I don’t think I have commented on anything Jamie posted. He is usually trying to be funny and so I don’t go there if it’s a serious topic. I have however faced gunmen in real life shootings and survived. I think that is probably the real problem with some here.

You are probably right. I just found it curious that a politician wouldn’t give out an email. But then if I wanted to make a point I would write a letter, sign it, put it in an envelope and mail it. I may be old school but I think that has a better opportunity of getting some attention.

Why are you involving me in this? Have I said anywhere that you should not act? I’m being attacked because I made a statement that “no one was injured and you can Monday morning quarterback that all you wantâ€. I have faced gunmen and I have acted. I have never been held hostage so I have no idea how I would handle that. But to say I would pull out my gun in a crowd and start blasting away would be ridiculous. We have always been able to have these discussions on this forum and maintain some kind of order, but this has just turned into a witch hunt. So instead of climbing on because someone else is attacking me how about you tell me what your problem is with me or where in this thread I have suggested some kind of action you find objectionable.

It doesn’t appear he wants you to contact him from anywhere but here…. Contact Me - Contact Information - United States Senator Bob Corker, Tennessee Oops… slow on the draw on that one.

Anyone have some before/after bluing pics ???
DaveTN replied to a topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Pics of before, during and after on a Smith & Wesson Model 19. I did all the prep work, stripping, bead blasting polishing and reassembly; Todd Watts of Christiana did the bluing. I told him I wanted the high quality blue, almost black, that S&W put on their guns years ago. He did a very good job of doing that. -
Both. Just depends on where I am going. If I am going to Memphis I carry a full size M&P 40 in an OWB holster. If I’m going to Shelbyville I carry a J-frame in an IWB holster. Everything is application driven.

Who cares whether you or I get hurt; that’s our choice. But you absolutely refuse to acknowledge that you could put in action a shooting that would cause the death of one of your family members or an innocent bystander. You seem to think that can’t happen to you. Either that or you think you would be able you justify (to yourself) your actions if an innocent was killed. I never said “Don’t shootâ€; I said no one was hurt and you can Monday morning quarterback that all you want. I stand by that; sorry if it disgusts you. My training is far different than yours. Absolutely.

When I was a cop we would use actors from the college to set-up traffic stops. The instructors gave them pre-determined scenarios to play out. We would stop the cars as a “routine” traffic stop. You just never know what is going to happen. As David suggested maybe some of you should get together and try something like this. But be forewarned; I think some here would get their feelings hurt. I gave an honest opinion in the last thread about this based on my experience and having been in, and responded to real life shootings. It didn’t go over so well so I’ll save it this time. However… this topic will make for a high “Noise Level” and certainly be entertaining.

I tried to keep from posting any more than I did; but I can’t help it. You aren’t getting any better; you are in denial. You still see yourself as a “Victim†and that is ridiculous. I posted what I did in post #29 not because you used drugs but because you seemed pizzed off that someone would accuse the drug abuser in the house of theft. Drug abuse and theft goes hand in hand. Sure you stole from you mother; drug abusers will steal from anyone. As long as you are feeling sorry for yourself (Which shows by your immature post about quitting the forum) it will be very easy for you to go back on drugs. I suspect you may be already based on what you are posting here; you must be high. Man up and get some help.

It also apparently doesn’t ask if you have been suspended or revoked in your home state.

Haslam company bans firearms in parking lots
DaveTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
You might have a case if anyone recognized carrying a gun as a right; but they don’t. The state of Tennessee doesn’t and neither does the 6th District or the Supreme Court of the United States. Castle doctrine is basically a theory; not a set of laws. And it really isn’t hard to understand. Without Castle Doctrine if you killed an intruder in your home and you used self-defense as a defense, you would need to convince a jury that you were in danger. With Castle Doctrine it is assumed that you were in danger. However… Castle Doctrine doesn’t create a free fire zone; it is an assumption that a Prosecutor can break down. If he can prove to the jury that a reasonable person should have known you were not in danger; you can be convicted. DISCLAIMER: Sometimes knowing the law makes it look like you support that law. I believe that you should have the right to shoot dead any criminal that is trying to make you a victim. However… I need to know that if I do that I could very well end up in a prison and leave my family without me; that is not an option for me. -
He gave her the gun to use for home defense. Cops won’t take a theft report; it’s civil. I wouldn’t spend any money to pursue it. Who cares if its used in a crime and checks back to him; he can tell them who has it.

I don’t know. I wasn’t paying attention and assumed .38 special. Sometimes reading truly is fundamental.

Legal Defense Funds or Retaining an attorney
DaveTN replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
If you need an attorney from a shooting incident; I doubt you will want someone else picking or approving your attorney. I have absolutely no experience with defense funds; but common sense tells me that they probably wouldn’t make a big payout. Learn the law and spend your money on training and maybe you won’t ever need an attorney for a shooting. It’s your thread; you can talk about whatever you like. -
I use Federal Hydra-Shoks. Great round no matter what caliber.
-
I knew a Glock could fire without touching the trigger; now we have proof. I fired that whole magazine and never touched anywhere near that trigger.

Legal Defense Funds or Retaining an attorney
DaveTN replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
It’s on you. You need to have an attorney and you need to have a number that you can reach him (or someone from his office) at any hour of the day or night. -
Depends on why you are being sued civilly. I don’t think a trigger job is going a play a big part in a case if you intentionally shot someone. It is going to play a huge part if you have an AD/ND (If you have one you will call it an AD, most here will be calling it an ND.) and are sued. Being clueless about gunsmithing and having an AD due to a botched/Careless trigger job on a carry gun could certainly lead to criminal charges if an innocent person got hurt. On a different note…some people have a hard time keeping other people named Dave and DaveTN separate. They are really going to have fun with this name situation.

jurisdiction question, City police on the interstate.
DaveTN replied to vontar's topic in General Chat
The defense of immunity in a civil suit (Qualified Immunity), the use of city or county attorneys… just for starters. If I were a Police Officer it would take me believing that someone was about to be killed; otherwise I would stand by and be a good witness or call 911. If the law is what you say; the minute it was determined I was a Police Officer out of my “Jurisdiction” the sharks would be circling. Like most states Tennessee Police Officers are certified by the state. What could be the possible reasoning behind taking away their protections and powers simply because they are in another city? -

You guys will just be a battle of the instructors. Which reminds me of the saying “Those who can….do, those who can’t….teach.†But anyway… Where is all this stuff documented? TCA?? This “one mile†business would need to be documented somewhere. Searching TCA gets three hits; none of them have to do with cops.
