  1. Are they going back to the 7.62 NATO also? I mean if they are clearing out the candy azz rounds isn’t that next?
  2. I’m not trying to chide or belittle anyone. This isn’t about rights. I don’t have a right to carry a gun and you don’t have a right to open carry. You bought the privilege from the state the same as I did. Open carrying has been battled on this forum more times than I can count. It is allowed so we don’t get charged with brandishing. It is a bad idea. It is bad tactically, politically, and logically. We have nothing to gain and everything to lose. However having said that…. It’s legal. So is carrying my PLR-16 as a carry gun. But I choose not to do that simple because I can; because I am a logical adult that knows it would cause a reaction. If you want to fight a 2nd amendment battle thats great. Have at it. Get the state of Tennessee to recognize that you have a right to keep AND bear arms. But I’ve fought that battle… lost… and I don’t want my ability to carry a gun locked into it. In the 1960’s a bunch of black Panthers got off a bus armed with rifles and wearing military garb and confronted Police. Did open carrying weapons work out for them? No… it scared the chit out of people and laws were passed to make sure it would never happen again. I can carry a gun. I can carry it almost anyplace I like. What do I have to gain?
  3. I liked Fisher… great coach… but he is gone. Be interesting to see who we get. The 16 Best Candidates For NFL Head Coaching Jobs Next Season
  4. I’ll pass on an “open carry†day. We already had that at Radnor park. How’s that worked out for us? You think a few people are now use to seeing someone with an AK strapped across their chest? I just don’t support open carry as good for our cause or any pro-gun legislation. Voting adults have already formed their opinions on carrying guns. Sorry you think anyone that disagrees with you is “cowering in fearâ€.
  5. Make the right choice and you can have it all; no need to choose one over the other. The military obviously isn’t a price buyer.
  6. Everything is application driven; let the “Special Operators†choose what they want. I don’t see that they are suggesting a change for all the military. Gun manufacturers don’t get to submit whatever they like on a government contract. I would guess that the requirements kept S&W, SIG and others from offering anything other than a 1911. With Kimber and S&W bowing out; it sounds to me like this might be more trouble than the contract is worth. They both make a better 1911 than Colt or SA. IMO of course.
  7. Hunting and Target shooters have very little in common other than they both use guns. You are obviously a hunter; you are using the proper stance for that. If the “other functions as needed†happens to be hitting a 2†circle at 300 yards or a man sized target at 600 yards; you probably won’t be competing with Bench Rest shooters.
  8. No… you don’t need to call the Police. Private sales are generally controlled by Tennessee state laws. Legal Resources Dealer sales are generally controlled by the Feds. ATF Online - Firearms - Frequently Asked Questions But some sales are controlled by both. If it’s from a private individual it depends on what they require. If you can’t prove to me your age or state of residence; I wouldn’t sell to you. Who is 18 years old in Tennessee that doesn’t have a driver’s license? It’s like liquor, or cigarettes; it isn’t worth the risk.
  9. I only have one 22 handgun right now. S&W 617. But it is part of a large family.
  10. You don’t have an individual right to keep and bear arms. Per the state of Tennessee and the United States Supreme Court that right stops at your property line. So how does the Constitution have anything to do with this parking lot issue?
  11. I would love it if U-Verse was better than Comcast. An AT&T guy stopped by and told me I can get everything from them for $138 that I’m paying Comcast over $200 ($210 I think) for. I was leaving and didn’t have time to talk with him. I’m really into TV here is what I have/need…. I need two HD DVR boxes than can record at least two HD shows each while watching a third that is already recorded. Most everything I watch is in HD. I have HBO, Show, Max, Stars, and TMC. I also have these on-demand so I get to watch them when I want. I also have a very large selection of On-Demand TV… most of the major networks and most of the primetime shows. This is where I watch most of my regular programming that I don’t record. I like watching it on my schedule. I can access and program my DVR from the net. My internet is so fast the numbers don’t matter anymore. I don’t know what it’s up to but unless I’m downloading a CD; I’m not waiting on anything. I don’t have service outages. As you can probably tell I’m pretty happy with Comcast. It just pizzes me off that they don’t have much competition. If I can cut my bill as much as they claim and still have all the goodies I have…. I’m in. But I’m pretty skeptical that will happen. Oh and… I don’t do introductory or 12 months pricing; I go by what it will cost in the long run. Who wants to shop their service every year? So who has the full meal deal with U-Verse; how does it compare?
  12. Some companies will claim their firearms ban is for safety reasons. They may store flammable or dangerous materials. I would guess that is pretty much the end of any government intervention.
  13. Obviously it works; he used a note instead of a gun.

    2011 Car

I didn’t know the Vette was a choice. I would obviously have to change my vote to that. But that’s kind of a different league than what is in the poll.

2 or 3. The Challenger is nice. I just wanted more room so I bought the Charger.
  16. No 2nd amendment rights should be involved in the debate of this type of legislation. The minute you do that you are done.
  17. Not for a compact carry gun; maybe for a full size duty or competition gun. But I’ve had four M&P’s, have two now, and I haven’t been disappointed in the triggers for carry guns. Shoot it and see if you think it needs anything.
  18. Taurus should have checked here before they wasted time engineering this product. On a more serious note…. Here’s a video of a discussion with the President of Taurus USA. There are two cylinder release latches; it takes two hands to release the cylinder. He says they will also have a rifle version of this.
  19. I would guess that they would still have liability, but they may be thinking it might reduce potential punitive damages by appearing to have some training.
  20. Now that one of their own has been targeted and shot during a mass murder they feel the need to act. Shooting people is against the law. You can’t make it more against the law. Drugs are outlawed and I don’t use drugs or know any drug dealers, but I bet if I wanted to find some this afternoon I could. The war on drugs…. How’s that working out for us? Killers will get guns even if they are outlawed. What was missing was people that had the ability and the tools to stop the threat. Would the shooter still have shot some people? Sure…. 3…4…5; but probably not 19. We all know the answer to this problem; and it’s not new laws or outlawing guns. I just wish our legislators would use some common sense.
  21. Before giving up on finding a very small .40S&W… The only thing I found that really interests me is the Kahr MK40. Before I give up or possibly look at 9mm’s (I don’t think I can:D); am I missing any other good ones? In small handguns I already have an M&P40C and a J-frame, but I’m looking for something maybe a little thinner…. More concealable.
  22. The only one I have heard of in the state is Smokey Mountain Knife Works, over past Knoxville.

    PLUM CRAZY

Because I’m a Toolmaker by trade, gunsmith hobbyist, and have knowledge of both Metallurgy and plastic injection molding. Therefore I’m just asking the obvious. I apologize if you feel I was calling your baby ugly; that was not my intent. That is why I asked a question instead of making a statement about metal vs. plastic in an AR lower. I did not know that you were buying a complete lower for $130. I own an M&P15-22 that has a plastic lower. But I wouldn’t feel comfortable with something like that on my .308 Panther. But that’s just me; I could be wrong.

    PLUM CRAZY

Why would anyone pay the same for a plastic lower when they can get aluminum?
  25. I have long argued that I have a right to carry a gun and protect myself, and that right does not come from the 2nd amendment. Argue the 2nd all you like, but the Federal government cannot and will not ever pass federal law that allows people to carry. And the SCOTUS will never override States Rights to allow the Feds to do so. We have a right to keep and bear arms. It is an inalienable right and should be self-evident. We need all states to recognize this. However…. Having been arrested for no crime other than having a gun in my car in Illinois, I am absolutely sure that most states do not recognize the right to bear arms (Tennessee included) no matter where it comes from.
