  1. Point Instinct Shooting is eye hand coordination; something you may have a natural ability for. (Especially if you can see where your rounds are hitting) Using sights is for target shooting. I wouldn’t worry about keeping both eyes open as long as you can achieve the results you want. I can achieve the results I want with one eye closed; so that is what I do.

    S&W or Colt?

Smith & Wesson’s. But it depends on the shooter. I shot K & L frame Smith & Wesson’s in competition. I owned three 6†Pythons and really wanted to shoot them in competition. But I would out shoot them with the Smiths every time. But it was me; not the gun. I just couldn’t get use to the long azz trigger pull on the pythons. Both are great lines. (I wish I had kept those Pythons) $$ $$
  3. Anonymity can also be a good thing. When I was a Police Officer it was our departmental policy that we could not make public statements about cases or about the department without the authorization of a Command Officer. We have some members here that are in a position to give information that if it weren’t for anonymity they might not otherwise be able to give. If you need that information; you take it for what it’s worth. It could be right or way off base; it’s up to you to decide.
  4. I never got sick in my 20’s or 30’s either; most people don’t. But I can assure you getting old sucks. I have been fighting a cold the last couple of days, but I don’t think it’s the flu.

Manufacturing VS. Assembly If it was “made†in the U.S. it’s not a Korean Sorento; it’s an American Sorento. If it was made in Korea and assembled here; it’s Korean. Where are the skilled trade jobs? Engineers, Toolmakers, Mold Maker’s, Die Makers, Machinist’s, Sheet Metal Workers, etc.? The only people you will hear calling foreign made cars “American Made†are the Americans. You won’t hear the Japanese calling their cars American Made; they leave that nonsense to the Americans. You are correct that Dodge is assembling the Challenger in Canada. GM did the same thing when they announced the new Camaro. I don’t think that is right. I can see where that would disappoint you; but I can’t see how you get to the point of “Might as well buy foreign.â€
  6. I guess I’m not sure what you are asking. If “The government†wants to contact you for something you said on the net; they probably have the resources to do that. But why would they? So… if I say something you don’t like you think you have a right to know where I live? You think road rage is bad, you know how many people would die if names and addresses were available?
  7. Of course he did; a business was involved. He found an attorney that would take his case and that is part of our system that is broke. We have a legal system; not a justice system.
  8. I doubt many of the people on here would say the things they say if they were face to face. You don’t have anonymity; it just depends on who wants to find you and what resources they have. The government should not be allowed to control the internet. But they should be able to arrest you if you commit a crime using the net. Freedom of speech has nothing to do with controlling the net. You have the freedom to say certain things; anonymity is not part of those rights.
  9. Looks to me like the kicker scored every time. Shotguns weren’t up to the task.
  10. Murfreesboro won’t either. Here it has nothing to do with guns; they won’t let you have a business unless it is zoned for that. It is my understanding that part of the FFL process is now checking with your City/County to see if they allow you a business in your home. Otherwise many of us would have them; they are only $200.
  11. You have a responsibility to check age and state of residency because it is simple to do so. You don’t have the ability to do a criminal background check; so that is not required. However, if you sold to a felon and it can be proven you knew; you would have a problem. Here is what happened to a guy from Ohio that sold guns in a private sale in Tennessee. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/newsworthy-reports/52539-firearms-seller-faces-federal-felony-charges-shelbyville-tn.html
  12. In these discussions, some tend to lose sight of what “should be†and what “isâ€. I don’t live in a world where everything is perfect. I live in world where neither my state nor my federal government recognizes a constitutional right to carry a gun off my property. If the state recognized our right to carry; I believe they should be able to push that right onto a business. But until that happens, I don’t see this going anywhere. Most of my friends and neighbors don’t have a right to carry a gun off their property let alone a right to carry it to work. You need an acknowledged right for them to get it off their property and to the parking lot before you can drive anything down the throat of the business owner. We don’t have that. Before anyone starts… That doesn’t mean those who recognize that are giving up; we obey laws because we aren’t criminals.
  13. On-Target in Murfreesboro is $110. Thats the highest I've seen.
  14. Yes, the South lost, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have States Rights. No one wants to fight that fight again. It’s because the SCOTUS knows that if they tell everyone they can strap on guns; the states will tell the SCOTUS to go pound sand. Tennessee would (I believe) be one of those states.
  15. I think everyone here will agree that carry should be a right. However… it is not. 95% of the citizens of the state of Tennessee would be subject to arrest if they carried a loaded handgun. A carry permit has nothing to do with rights. It’s like a driver’s license; it’s a privilege I buy from the state. Do I like that I have to pay the state and have it be a privilege instead of a right? No none of us do. I decided I would exercise my 2nd amendment rights and if I was caught I would fight it all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States. (I was young and didn’t know exactly how things worked.) They handcuffed me, threw me in jail, and then took me to trial. It was one of the dumbest things I have done in my life. It cost me thousands (Did you know if you get charged criminally the NRA sees you as a criminal and will not help you?... I learned that…. Screw the NRA) of dollars to learn that not only do I not have a right to carry a gun; I don’t have a right to appeal to the Supreme Court either. Then after you go through all that you can have someone that has never done anything except sit in front of a computer tell you how you are “giving upâ€. States’ Rights…. Ever heard of it? We fought the worst war our country has ever been in over it. It is also the reason that the Supreme Court cannot and will not be telling you that you can strap on a gun without a permit. The state of Tennessee is the only authority that can decide that you can carry a gun without a permit. So… those of you that want to fight the Feds for 2nd amendment rights… fight on…. I wish you the best of luck. But I am interested in maintaining our carry privileges and maybe along the way getting our state to recognize our right to bear arms under the Tennessee Constitution.
  16. How close? What size groups and at what distance? What model .17? (I’m just curious why you think a heartbeat is moving the rifle) I’ve been looking at the Caldwell rests. But right now I just use whatever is handy; usually a range bag.
  17. I’m not judging any people. This is all pretty new to me… thank you for helping us out. Note to self… Jennings are not junk.
  18. More realistic exchange of ideas… what does that mean? More structured areas? You think it would go over better somewhere else? Come on man…. Don’t get all butt hurt. You pitched an idea and it didn't go over like you planned. As I said you weren't the first to come up with that idea. No one is holding it against you (unless you turn it into a personal attack), just come up with a better idea. Or… maybe we are clueless to what an overwhelming success it would be. Do it and see how it turns out. The button idea sounds good. Maybe for a given day or week. “HCP week†maybe?

  20. Well see… I don’t see anything wrong with being a gun snob. And there certainly is nothing wrong with being a 1911 fan. I have been in shootings and I would want my Full size M&P 40. However… if we were shooting a match I would shoot my SW1911 Target and hope you showed up with an M&P… or Glock.. or whatever. Application driven. There is a very quick way to settle that $400 Vs. $3K 1911 argument. My question to you would be this… if you aren’t buying a $3k 1911 just to be able to say you own one..can your $3K 1911 out shoot a $1K Smith & Wesson or Kimber? I’m an American made buyer also. I wouldn’t go foreign unless I couldn’t find an American made gun that met my requirements.
  21. We all have weird stories…. Sure any gun can fail. I don’t own any of the $3K 1911’s but I bet someone on this very forum has had one fail. Does that mean that they should sell it and buy a $400 Pilipino 1911? No man…. That’s just crazy. Also... I’m talking about carry guns; not range guns. Who cares if a range gun is POS? BTW… those $3K 1911 guys are a level above gun snobs.

  23. He’s sharper than you are. I mean after all you carry a Glock.
  24. Besides being one of the nicest guys you will ever meet; I am even tempered and level headed. Humor… like many on a gun forum, you are having trouble recognizing it when you see it. But on a more serious note I’m just constantly amazed at how many people will pick the cheapest POS they can find and then announce they are going to use it for a carry gun. I know that some people pick those guns because that is all they can afford. But I also know people personally that will buy a $50K car and then want a bottom feeder carry gun. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised at ignorance; but sometimes I still am.

    $200 revolvers?

No. Not any you would want for a carry gun. Since you want concealment I assume you are talking J-frame size. Smith & Wesson’s have taken a big jump on the last few years. You might find some nice ones in the 300-400 range, but you have to move quickly when you see them. The Ruger SP101 is under $500 new, you should be able to find one of those for around $350 maybe.
