What makes you think they aren’t?

Yes, Carbines that use .40S&W or 9mm.

The last couple of times I went to the Murfreesboro show, if it had done any better you wouldn’t have been able to walk though.

Welcome to TGO. I’ve hauled a lot of Marines from Camp Lejeune out of Morehead City. USS Ponce LPD-15. Thanks for your service.

Best course of action when pulled over by LEO?
DaveTN replied to DocZombie's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Having been the one doing the stops… I would treat them the way I would want to be treated. Tennessee has given you the choice of deciding if you want to inform or not. I’m informing because …1. I don’t want any drama. 2. It opens communications for a friendly discussion that will get me out of a ticket. -
I don’t look for it, and no one has been cited for it; so it’s a non-issue.

Being a patriot has nothing to do with being shot at. A Patriot is a person who supports and defends their country and its citizens; not necessarily their government. This country was full of Patriots during WWII that never saw action or even joined the military. But if it weren’t for them we probably would have lost the war. We don’t have many of those kinds of people left today.

HB0355 (McDonald): Parking lot bill filed 2/7/11
DaveTN replied to GKar's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
So what you are saying is that what’s in your private property is your business. However if your employer tries to control what’s on his private property you want the government to step in and put him in his place and side with you? -
Has The "Firearms Freedom Act" Been Tested Yet?
DaveTN replied to strickj's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
That is the point. And the ATF said its BS and they will act. I fully expect them to make arrests and pull licenses. You need someone that is making guns or suppressors. You also need someone that will risk being convicted of felony weapons charges. I didn’t think someone had to be arrested or lose their license to file in court; but apparently they do or there would be cases in court already. -

DaveTN replied to strickj's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I haven’t heard of any. You would almost need a manufacturer or a dealer to risk their FFL to test it. -
I would like to see Tennessee acknowledge that bearing arms is a right. Until that happens they can’t force a private business owner to acknowledge something they don’t acknowledge. It is a crime for a citizen to carry a loaded firearm in the state of Tennessee. Any discussion that doesn’t include all citizens isn’t a right.

Two by Campfield RE carry on college/univ campus
DaveTN replied to GKar's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I didn’t mean what’s his name; I meant is this a campus cop, a faculty member, the President of the University or the Easter Bunny? He shouldn’t have said it if he doesn’t want anyone to know who he is. If he’s a decision maker you aren’t helping by keeping his name out of it. If he’s not a decision maker no one cares what his opinion is. -

Does anyone know of any state that allows campus carry that can’t be trumped by the school? -
Probably. But would you want to pay shipping and transfer fees when its only 50 miles?

That M&P and the Wilson would have gone home with me. If they weren’t trashed those are excellent prices.

Ronald Reagan on unions and collective bargaining
DaveTN replied to Will Carry's topic in General Chat
There’s good and bad in everything. If the Unions were gone today, you would want them back tomorrow. I doubt there are very many here who’s salary and benefits are not a direct results of the unions. DISCLAIMER: I’m not in a union and don’t want to be in one. But I do work in manufacturing and I can say without a doubt that if it weren’t for unions we would not be enjoying the lifestyle many of us have; union member or not. -
I don’t. According to the AG the language only need be “substantially similarâ€. “NO GUNS ALLOWED†is substantially similar. However… no cases (that can be verified) have ever been posted here of anyone being charged. This gets a lot of discussion for a situation that as far as we know has never happened. Oh yeah…. IBTL.

Don’t let the word “intent†being used in the statute make you think it has some special meaning. Most criminal acts require intent or state of mind. Sure… you can carry without an HCP and think you can argue “I’m on my way to the range.â€, but I’d be willing to bet if it doesn’t satisfy the cop at the scene; it won’t satisfy the court. It’s a crime to carry a loaded gun in Tennessee without an HCP; it’s just that simple. Regardless of what 104 year old case law says.

HB0355 (McDonald): Parking lot bill filed 2/7/11
DaveTN replied to GKar's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Let’s talk about that first. What rights are being trumped? Keep in mind for the state to force them on private business owners they would need to be rights recognized by the state for all citizens. The company has a responsibility to do what they see fit. What if they manufacture or as a by-product produce something that is explosive or flammable and they ban firearms on the property because a round going off could set off a large explosion? What if you are showing Bubba your new handgun in the parking lot and crank off a round that goes through an office window and kills an employee. Is the state going to protect the company from the civil suit the employees spouse is going to file? It would be a short argument. The “Safe Passage Provision†specifically states that weapons must be unloaded, cased, and the ammunition separate from the weapon. It provides passage through an area where guns are banned by local law. I certainly wouldn’t say that it implies “do what is necessaryâ€, because it certainly doesn’t allow you to have a functioning weapon immediately accessible to you. The state doesn’t care. If they did it wouldn’t be a crime for 90% of the states residents to carry a loaded handgun. I support Tennessee being the next state to recognize not only the right to keep arms, but the right to bear arms. However, until that happens it would be ridiculous to think that the state could force private business owners to allow guns anywhere. And if legislation was enacted I doubt it would hold up under the immediate court challenges it would face. -
Yes we are. When Bush was running the show Obama and Clinton said we should pull out and bring our troops home. Now they are running the show……

HB0355 (McDonald): Parking lot bill filed 2/7/11
DaveTN replied to GKar's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Since they have a “company handbook†it sounds like it is a condition on employment. Any private business owner can make “All Vehicles Subject To Search†a condition of entry or employment. There are many valid reasons for that other than searching for guns. Your vehicle didn’t become company property and your rights aren’t being violated. If you don’t agree with the policies your company put in place you are not required to enter their property. I know that this doesn’t sit well with some; but the alternative is worse. -
