H.R. 822 is the National Right to Carry Reciprocity bill
DaveTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I believe that I have a natural right to carry a gun; this state and most every other disagrees and will put me in jail for it. It is a crime for a citizen to carry a gun in Tennessee. Call that “garbage†if you wish; but it’s the law regardless of what you or I think. If you want to quote the Constitution or use it as a basis for your argument then you must also acknowledge the system put in place to maintainand interpret it. THE SCOTUS has ruled. The right to keep and bear arms has been a controversial issuemy entire life. I decided to reject what I felt was violations of the 2ndamendment by civil disobedience and suggested that others do the same. I was young, dumb, and didn’t fully understand how the court systems worked at the higher levels. All it did was cause me to be arrested and cost thousands in attorney fees. I would not do it today nor would I suggest anyone else do it, and I would have not done it then had I been better educated. I would bet it will continue to be a life long issue for the longest members of this board. But something can change. People can work to get their states to recognize the right to bear arms at a state level. Four states have it now;make Tennessee the fifth. -
It is cause to pull you over, but it can’t be PC to search your car (unless they are going to tow the car). But it does give them reason to stop you and talk to you, which can lead to many other things.

It’s not illegal. (Unless of course you don’t meet specs.)

States are free to pick and choose what states they want reciprocity with. And they do that with driver’s licenses also. Remember whenTennessee was passing out driver’s license to illegals? There were states that were not going to recognize Tennessee driver’s licenses for bond on a ticket or as a valid ID. That was part of the reason it was stopped. The Feds don’t have power over the states when it comes to bearing arms. I don’t want to give them that power or even acknowledge that they can consider taking it. As long as we recognize States Rights we will never have a Federal HCP, a Federal driver’s license or a federal vehicle code. There is just no way all 50 states will agree. -
I don’t see anything in the code that exempts the back window. But I only looked at 55-9-107; it could be somewhere else. Stop by a tint shop and have them check it. You could go by the Police Station, but they might write it down for you. Window tint is free PC for a stop.

I prefer the looks of high gloss blue, but carrying them on duty I quickly found that it’s not practical. Stainless can be kept looking new for decades with little or no cost. Small scratches can easily be repaired by you at home. You can’t fix blue and make it look right without sending it to someone for a refinish; that’s pretty expensive. I would buy blue if it’s going to be a collectable, nightstand gun or a safe queen; or stainless if it’s going to see a lot of use. I don’t keep guns so I also look at resale; a stainless will generally sell quicker than a blued. But a Blackhawk isn’t really a carry gun, so that might not matter much. 4 or 6 inch will pretty much be personal preference. I shot in competition with duty guns and my 4†S&W K & L frames would shot as accurately as my 6â€â€™s. So there was no point in hauling around the extra 2â€. I don’t know if that’s true of the Blackhawks or not. Grips… you can get whatever you want. I have rubber Hogue’s for shooting and wood for presentation on my S&W’s.

Physics are getting in the way. A full size Glock is hard for a man twice your size to conceal. I would say your only hope is to get a good belt, OWB holster, and just let a loose fitting shirt or blouse hang over it.

Man guilty of causing panic with unloaded guns in Orem mall

Oh please…. Fill us in. Who is he now “liked†by? What things are progressing because of him? If calling people “Sheeple†who don’t do dumb azz stunts to try to get a lawsuit against some government agency makes you feel better; put me at the top of the list. This guy’s HCP was revoked and he is looked at by most pro-gun folks as the village idiot. Please don’t take away from the people that have worked for some of the gun legislation we have now by implying that any of this has to do with this clowns antics. -
So do I. I drive like a former cop; with total disregard for traffic laws. But I will never be in your way. If I’m doing 85 and you run up on me; I’m going to hang you out there in that left lane as bait while I ride your back right. Until a couple of weeks ago I hadn’t had a ticket in 17 years. I got a ticket in Illinois for 50/40. I didn’t even try to talk him out of the ticket I didn’t think he was going to write me. 10 over… what a chickenchit ticket; I never wrote those. Oh well.....
-
15 over = okay, 16 over = Douche…. Got it. Bad drivers always have an excuse.
-
It’s called “impeding traffic” for the azzhats that think they have a “right” to be in that lane as long as they are doing the speed limit. That was a warning for the guy in the video; the cop must not have had the time to write him. I would have wrote him, they cause more accidents than speeders. You learned that as a kid in drivers ED.

No you can’t; it’s a crime for a citizen to carry a loaded gun in Tennessee. Even with an HCP, if you walk around with your gun in your hand you will without a doubt get stopped. The charge of disorderly conduct would fit that as well. -
Is it legal to carry military-style pistols?

Remember when you were in law school and they were always talking about “Slippery Slopes†and then you got out in the real world and heard that term applied many times to situations that didn’t warrant it? Well this is the “slippery Slopeâ€. I assume you are a defense attorney so I can see how you could nonchalantly throw around the “Life isn’t fair†statement or say that you could see their argument. Cops and Prosecutors are Officers of the Court; it is their duty to make sure innocent people don’t go to court. I can see how an arrest could be made in this case; I don’t see how it could end up in a courtroom. But I agree…. Life isn’t fair. I’m a former cop; I don’t expect the DA to tell me if I will be arrested. I know from experience that you can be arrested for anything the cop chooses. But I damn sure expect him to tell me if I will be charged by his office. -

Did you read the story? My opinion is based on his court testimony. He is a nutcase and it was a good thing he was ordered to get help. Rarely do we see the charge of disorderly conduct properly applied. This is it though. -
Don’t spend $800 on an AK. AK’s became popular because they were cheap. They were junk when they were new, but that’s okay when they cost 300 bucks. At $800 you are in or near a much nicer neighborhood.

This case stinks and that comment stinks. In Illinois when you have a general question about the law we can call the States Attorney’s Office and they will try to answer it. What do you do in Tennessee hire a lawyer? Maybe this isn’t the case to fight, but it appears to me that everyone from the cops to the prosecutors to the Judge are okay with sticking this guy with a charge they know isn’t a good one just because he is a gang banger. If they can justify doing that to him they would justify doing it to any of us. Or maybe I’m basing my opinion on BS information from the World Wide Web. -

There is a warning about the PLR-16 incident on GOC. (AD #90134) It names the Prosecutor and the owner. People always want what they perceive as “illegal†or restricted; I guess the value of my PLR-16 just took a big jump in Sumner County. -
It’s a felony; why would the Police need you to “Sign a warrant

Two by Campfield RE carry on college/univ campus

Someone at work told me they didn’t think MTSU security was armed. Is that true? How does the faculty feel about this from your point of view? Give us the scoop on what the people that would be allowed to carry/or not are saying. Have the parents been asked what they think or been given an oppertunity to speak yet? -

Do you have any Police training? -

I’m really torn on this issue. On one hand I know the only way to stop a school shooter (or any mass murderer) is to kill them. On the other hand I think it is far more likely a student would encounter an untrained HCP holder doing something stupid than encountering a school shooter. I could feel better about this if it required some real training. I’m guessing Campus Security can’t carry on campus without some real firearms training. So why would anyone think it is okay for a Professor or any other HCP holder to do it? Just thinking out loud…. -
E-Verifyis a simple concept; it will work. These bills don’t go far enough, they only require checking new hires; they need to require checking all employees. The cost to employers shouldn’t be an issue; there shouldn’t be any. Make a web accessed state site. Haslams claim that “It’s us saying, we have to make sure we get this right.†is pathetic. Governor you are charged with ensuring that the laws are enforced. Do you have any other laws you want to disregard or decided if you want your administration to obey them? Businesses people that knowingly hire illegals are criminals; deal with them. If they leave the state we are better off without them.
