We only have of side of the story. I doubt we will get the other side of the story unless there is a trial. If there isn’t a trial I doubt we will ever hear the other side. It does make good press though.

If the goal is to have our skilled trades and factory workers working for the same wages as other countries, or even for minimum wage; it’s not really worth it is it? Protectionism is not the bad word some would have you believe. This ain’t rocket science.

Most of the respected financial experts have said that our economy can't recover until we get our manufacturing base back. (But that really just common sense; no degree in economics required) That's up to us, not the government. Foreign countries aren't responsible for damaging our economy; they are just doing what's best for them. (Exactly what we should be doing) Most Americans are only patriots when it doesn't cost them anything.

Lack of support kills HB 2021, parking lot bill
DaveTN replied to Sky King's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Maybe not specifically defined (I haven't looked) but we know this... When a loaded gun is in your car on your property; its legal because it's on your property. When you cross your property line you become a criminal unless you have an HCP. Common sense tells me that answers the in/on your property question. -
I was doing it in the 70's; thats what I meant by my statement in post #5. Equipment violations are golden. The Judge can't rule that was no PC for the stop; even if you are a Tennessee Titan. Window tint, license plate light, tail light out, No front plate (in some states); all that kind of stuff is better than a moving violation when you suspect DUI or drugs. It's just good Police work. But if you stop for couple after work or have drugs in your car; the window tint is free pass for a stop.

Apparently now they have added all the new graphics and are still using the same 386. I emailed them a couple of years ago and asked if I should start up a donation for a web site for them. But they didn’t ever answer me. Their Web Master must be a "Gun Guy".

He's not...that was in 2007. He didn't join until 2008.

I'm old also, not as old as OhShoot of course; but still pretty old. I LOVE texting. Texting cuts out so much BSing and wasting time on calls. I can text a question and get a yes or no answer. I LOVE it... could not be without it.

Check this out from the Cabela's ad. I wonder if Bass Pro would do a price match.

Are you serious? You are going to try to put the death of Americans on someone because they burn a Koran? Thats ridiculous. We sent our troops over there to kill them; they don't need any other excuse to kill us. I would bet they have never heard of Terry Jones or of his actions. BTW... I wasn't jumping all over you I was simply disgusted that someone would be arrested for burning a Koran when flag burning is allowed.

The thumb safety failed on my 1911 while I was at the range demonstrating to my BIL how the safeties work and how safe the 1911 is.

My first M&P’s had mag disconnects, but the new ones I have don’t. I was told at the store that if I wanted them I would have to order them, they didn’t stock them because no one wanted them. I have both a full size and a compact 40 with night sights (both mint) I would trade for like guns with magazine disconnects. But I’m not a cop working the streets anymore so I don’t guess it is as important.

I'm all about buying American Made, so I think this is a great thing for all of us. Both this and the Remington R1 have come in under $600. That should push the foreign guns back down in price also. I hope this isn't as hard to get as the Remington; I still haven't been able to get one of those at a good price. Now I may have to wait and see how the two compare.

Illinois State Police was one of the first large Police Departments to use a semi-auto. It was the S&W Model 39. Cops wanted (and many still do today) a magazine disconnect for a reason and it sure wasn’t because of lawyers.
-
It’s how things are done here when people don’t have the advantage of experience. How many times have you seen a magazine disconnect called a “Lawyer gun†by someone that did their Wally World Walk last month. They go by what they are told not what their experiencer is; because they don’t have any. If you are going to choose a weapon that you are going to trust your life on; you need to base that decision on something other than internet BS. If you are going to have a weapon around your children you need to have a plan on how to do that safely. And if you continually see that one particular weapon is involved in AD/ND (whichever name gives you a warm fuzzy feeling) it is your responsibility to determine if that weapon is something you want around your family. A Glock may be a fine duty weapon, and I guess it’s possible that every AD/ND attributed to a Glock was actually someone pulling the trigger. But I wouldn’t recommend one to a novice any more than I would recommend a 1911.

Don't mean to scare you I'm a motorcycle rider also. But its way more dangerous than a firearm. I interviewed way more people involved in motocycle accidents or the people that killed them than I have shooting victims or shooters. People don't look for you when they pull out or change lanes. On a cell phone, drunk, you just never know. Try to maintain a safe zone around you all the time; you never have the right-of -way. Other than that... have fun.

Is a "gunbuster" sign considered a proper posting?
DaveTN replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I would have busted out laughing and had to leave. -
I’ve had both. Sprint was a few years ago and their coverage was horrible. Sprint users where I work now have to walk outside to get a signal. I’ve not had any issues with Verizon coverage anywhere. None of them will do anything to keep their customers but will bend over backwards to get new ones. I wanted to switch to someone else this time, but the wife said no because the rest of our family is on Verizon and it doesn’t use her minutes to call them.

A Glock can’t discharge without you pulling the trigger; it’s impossible. I have read that time after time, posted on the World Wide Web by Glock experts, some of who have had Glocks for more than a year. So it must be true. If you don’t trust your Glock or you think that "Glock Safe Action Pistols" is a joke; why don’t you just sell it and buy something with the kind of safety you want, and is better made… like an M&P?

It doesn’t matter what the fuel source is; you will pay the same per mile rate you are paying now (or more). The people making these vehicles are doing it to save the planet. ( ) Well that and because the state of California told them they had to. They couldn’t care less how it impacts your finances.

Smith & Wesson makes then best guns in the world. You would think they could afford a Web Master that could keep the site running. That is all.

CMP doesn’t have any right now so prices are crazy. They are around $500 when they have them. AIM Surplus has some refurb’s for $795 shipped free to FFL or C&R. Here is what they say about them…

H.R. 822 is the National Right to Carry Reciprocity bill
DaveTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I believe that I have a natural right to carry a gun; this state and most every other disagrees and will put me in jail for it. It is a crime for a citizen to carry a gun in Tennessee. Call that “garbage†if you wish; but it’s the law regardless of what you or I think. If you want to quote the Constitution or use it as a basis for your argument then you must also acknowledge the system put in place to maintainand interpret it. THE SCOTUS has ruled. The right to keep and bear arms has been a controversial issuemy entire life. I decided to reject what I felt was violations of the 2ndamendment by civil disobedience and suggested that others do the same. I was young, dumb, and didn’t fully understand how the court systems worked at the higher levels. All it did was cause me to be arrested and cost thousands in attorney fees. I would not do it today nor would I suggest anyone else do it, and I would have not done it then had I been better educated. I would bet it will continue to be a life long issue for the longest members of this board. But something can change. People can work to get their states to recognize the right to bear arms at a state level. Four states have it now;make Tennessee the fifth.
