I bet if you asked Buford (on May 13th) if a gun could discharge without pulling the trigger, he would have given the same speech many here are giving.

Indiana repeals the 4th amendment?????
DaveTN replied to Will Carry's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
No. He had recourse against the Officers if they were violating the law. Based on what you describe I can only guess that he chose not to pursue that because he was a criminal and it was the cost of doing business. Agree?? -
Indiana repeals the 4th amendment?????
DaveTN replied to Will Carry's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
So when your daughter or your Granddaughter is getting her face beaten in by her thug drug dealer boyfriend she decided to live with; you want the cops to stand by and call a Judge? This isn’t about a bunch of quotes from our founding fathers being taken out context. It’s about real life innocent citizens being in danger and calling the Police to save their lives. Standing around and waiting while someone gets a Judge out of bed? You can’t be serious. It wasn’t that way when I was a cop and I pray it never goes that way. Who would you blame when you found out the cops were on-scene and standing by waiting on a Judge while your daughter was killed. Is your daughter or granddaughter an acceptable causality? Mine isn't. Maybe the Officers sent to tell you your relative was dead could offer some quotes to help you feel better. Food for thought Leroy. -
Everything is application driven… I won’t keep any gun long enough to even begin to "shoot out" a barrel. Non chrome is more accurate. (I don’t know that, but the “experts†seem to be in agreement on it) It adds cost on the front end that won’t be recovered when I sell it. So…. No chrome for me.

Winchester flea market gunshow in memphis TN

What are you selling that you would buy a table? -
What do you do that all these people are asking you what gun to buy? I’m a former cop and been collecting and shooting in competition for over 40 years; I don’t get asked about guns very often (except when I was a cop). I feel left out. Let me slow down this Glock fan boy train though. I wouldn’t walk across the street to get a Glock for free, if I had to keep it. I would never recommend a Glock for a first gun, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend a Glock for someone with kids unless they had a lot of firearms experience. Of course then they wouldn’t be asking.... would they? If someone is asking what gun they should buy; they probably don’t need a Glock. Carry on with your Kool-Aid party.

Indiana repeals the 4th amendment?????
DaveTN replied to Will Carry's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The 4th amendment is alive and well. It’s obviously in much better shape than the 2nd. (Depending on how you interpret the 2nd) Our founding Fathers did not intend for the Constitution to protect criminals. They were much tougher on them than we are today. The cops don’t need warrants signed by a Judge and how would that change anything if they did? Other than give the criminal more time to prepare. In the story that started all this, it appears to me that the Officers had probable cause to enter the home (Domestic Violence). You may not like that but it’s here to stay. The women’s groups that got those laws passed in almost every state have more political clout than any gun rights group ever thought about having. The only group that gets more done than them is probably MADD. If you are beating your wife; the cops are coming in. Resist if you like, you will be dead or in prison. How’s that protecting your family? Are mistakes made? Certainly they are. It happened right here in Lebanon when the cops got the wrong house. The homeowner resisted and was shot to death. Real cops coming through your door that you think is an illegal entry? You have legal recourse. Fake cops coming through your door? Wow tough call. Life isn’t fair. Many of you here that want to tie the hands of Police Officers or put their lives in danger are using the exact same arguments that the anti-gun people use against us. Sure things can go wrong. Does it happen enough to require a search warrant from a Judge when the life of an innocent person is in danger? Absolutely not. -
Let me make sure I understand what you put these guns through. You ran them until they were so hot you couldn’t touch them. Then you threw them in a tub of ice water for 10 minutes. Then you got them out and they fired to the same POI? That would defy physics. So none of the guns had a single failure? Not one FTF or jam? That’s 2K through each gun or about 222 rounds an hour. Not really anything to brag about is it? How about accuracy? What did the groups look like at 25 yards or beyond? I’m glad you got a free gun.

Well…. I really don’t want to build one, but I haven’t bought a gun in several months… I’m having withdrawals. BTW.... This is NOT a buyers’market in used AR’s.
-
I’m going to the gun show in Nashville today. If I can’t find a deal on an AR; I’m going to try to find a lower to start a build. Anyone know of any specific dealers that sell name brand lowers (M&P, DPMS, Etc.) at the shows for a decent price?
-
No they aren’t. What you see there fulfills our Federal requirement that the name and location of the importer be on the gun. Where do you think the Mold Maker is that put that lettering in the mold? Doing some final assembly in GA doesn’t make it American Made. HS Produkt, the Croatian company that makes the XD, has to put Springfield Armory, Genesco, Illinois on the side of theirs. But they also put a stamp in theirs to show it was made in Croatia. Didn’t work though. Some folks still want to claim they are SA’s. Did you find anything out about your sales claim? I’m really curious now. I think the M&P might be out selling Glock by now.
-
What makes you think Glock out sells M&P? I really don’t know. But a lot of Police Departments are switching to M&P; most of the members here I see make the comparison seem to choose the M&P. I’m sure Glock still has the largest LEO market share because they have had the market for 25 years. M&P is fairly new, but gaining ground quickly. The civilian market has historically gone to whoever has the LEO market. But I think this time the positive acceptance of the M&P by the civilian market caused the LEO buyers to take a closer look. When they do it’s a done deal. It would certainly be interesting to see the numbers of units sold, but I doubt we will see that.

Guess who bought the PLR-16 used in the Hendersonville incident?
DaveTN replied to DaveTN's topic in General Chat
OS linked a thread that discusses it. He also gave you the short version. After you read that; tell us what you don’t understand. -
I’ve had several M&P’s now and they have all been flawless. Smith & Wesson’s Customer support (Should you need it) is second to none. M&P’s are made by Americans in America; Glock and XD’sare not. (If that’s important to you; it’s a deal breaker for me).

Joining the GCA at the store and being able to buy right then must be something new. However, you can fax all your information to CMP and then call and talk with one of the ladies in the office to make sure you are good-to-go before you make the trip. The best place to get information on what’s available in the store (because it changes daily) is the CMP forum. Members post weekly what they saw.

Holster question - with or without thumb break
DaveTN replied to a topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Weapon control. I worked the streets and have seen many unsecured weapons go skidding down the street. All my holsters have thumb breaks. I pop the snap at the first sign of any trouble; snap it back when its over. -
Observation on the classified section here at TGO...

Well…. The clown at the Murfreesboro terminal even tried to give me grief over a handgun going to Smith & Wesson on an over night label they sent me. I couldn’t believe it. He wasn’t going to ship it until I said “You want me to call Smith & Wesson and tell them you are refusing to ship on a label they bought from you?” He said “Let me go check on something.” He came back and gave me a speech about how he can accept it because it is going to a manufacturer, but if I was just shipping to an FFL; I would have to have an FFL ship it. This is a guy the counter person called out from the back saying he needed a “Security Supervisor”. I called UPS corporate over the shotgun deal and they told me they wouldn’t override the decision of someone at the terminal on a “gun deal” even if they were wrong on company policy. Point is… we can’t all walk into a UPS, Post Officer, or FedEx and find someone that knows both the law and their own companies’ policies. And I refuse to lie about what I’m shipping just because they hired an idiot. EDIT: Having said that though…. Your stuff is priced too high if you need to ship it to sell it. -

DaveTN replied to gregintenn's topic in General Chat
I think most of us are pretty clear on it. UPS turned me down cold. They would not ship a shotgun to a forum member in Chattanooga. The only people I know that have pulled it off have done so without declaring what they are shipping. I won’t do that. I wondered about forum members being couriers for guns; but figured if it was done in the open the AFT would find a way to say it is illegal. -
This thread is a prank isn’t it. You had a bet with another forum member that you could get more responses than he could…. Didn’t you? I’ll post and help you win because you can’t be serious.

Yo As a former cop I don't think that's true. I cleared most of my cases if I had anything at all to work with. Did you get a plate number, vehicle description, anything? Did you stop when you were safe and meet with the responding Officers? Cops don't come to "make reports"; they come to start investigations. I just have a hard time believing that if you were reporting an assault in progress the dispatcher told you to hang up an call the emergency number. If that is true she should be reprimanded and have her job explained to her again.
