    lever gun question

You can determine its worth by what they sell for on Gun Broker. Not what they are listed for, but what they actually sell for. You will generally see a big difference. You can buy "Pre 64's" all day long for $500. A collector might go $800 for one that is mint. They just aren't very rare. 95 to 98% to me means that it looks brand new or very close to mint. You might get high dollar for it.
  2. I wouldn't want to risk the attorney bills. The ATF says a PLR-16 is a pistol, but that didn't stop the Sumner County DA from charging a guy with a weapons violation for carrying it on a HCP.
  3. Now you have... LAPD bought them after the bank of America shootout. One was even used as a prop by the LAPD for a request at a city council meeting to ban ownership of .50 Cal rifles. Here is a link to the letter Ronnie Barrett wrote to the LAPD. The Gun Zone -- Ronnie Barrett
  4. Nope. Always do your research and determine if the “optionâ€(Whatever it is) applies to your application. I clean my guns after every range session. The only thing I would get out of paying extra for a piston gun is being able to say I have a piston gun. And I may do that in the future. Bragging rights is a valid application for some.
  5. I was surprised when I stood in the book depository window in Dallas. It was not a long shot(63 and 88 yards).I'm pretty confidant it would have been pretty easy pickings for me, so I would guess it would have been a cake walk for a Marine Corp Sharpshooter. Of course I am not factoring in the tremendous adrenalin rush that may have been in play taking a shot or three at the President of the United States. Oswald shot Kennedy. Everything else is to sell movies, books, or for Internet arguments.
  6. Those are my range grips in my photo, they are Pachmayer American Lengend Series grips. But I wouldn't use them or any other rubber grip for carry, clothes hang up on them too much. Depends on you application.
  7. The one you linked. The LE6920 is pretty plain by todays standards. Its $1200 at Buds or $1100 at CDNN with a free Quad rail. I decided to go this route (the 811001).... because I use optics, so an A2 was out of the question and I really didn't want the stanadrd A2 front sight; its just in the way. I don't need/want a carry handle either. (Although I got one free with it)
  8. I owned a Colt in the 80's. I wouldn't say they are the best quality, they are simply the name associated with the government M16. For $1500 you can do a heck of a lot better than a plain Jane Colt. You are paying for a name. If you are going to do that pay for the name Smith & Wesson and spend less money, but get more. Don't fall into the "Law Enforcement" marketing trap; it means nothing in guns or ammunition.
  9. I too have a dog that is in the final stages of his life. He is in congestive heart failure. I know that I will soon have to have him put down and it will be terrible. I have no doubt dogs go to heaven and Harley will be waiting for me at Rainbow Bridge. Dog is God spelled backwards; that can't be a coincidence. It always makes me feel better when I see that... I hope it does you too.
  10. I don't know what "Covert Black" is, but it just dawned on me the ambi-safety on my SW1911 is black.
  11. Good for you. But you know the rules…. Without pics it didn’t happen. Like many others I have many types of handguns. To me Tupperware guns are tools… duty, carry or home protection. And I use them for that. But my 1911’s and Revolvers are a joy to shoot and fine examples of real quality firearms manufacturing. I’ve never owned or shot a Tupperware gun that was anywhere near as accurate as my 1911’s or my revolvers. Everything is application driven. I think the Ambi safety has to be fit to the gun by a gunsmith. Have you tried Ed Brown? I would call or shoot Para an email and ask them.
  12. It was the weapon of choice for Lee Harvey Oswald.

  14. I’ve used Mothers, Flitz and Happich semi-chrome. The best results came with the semi-chrome, although they are all pretty close. If you didn’t have any luck with the Mothers I doubt you will have any luck with the others. Most Harley dealers will have Happich Semi-Chrome. Once nickel starts pitting or flaking there really isn’t much you can do except to have it refinished. What was the outcome, what do you mean by "No luck"?
  15. I don’t know if that was directed at me, but I was in no way frowning on it. Quite the opposite I was laughing at it. I don’t think that you shouldn’t do it if you feel the need. And I certainly don’t think there should be anything that stops you from carrying so many guns you have trouble walking. It just makes me smile when I see it. Training? You go first….
  16. We need both sides of this issue to respect each other. There is no need for a Police Officer to point a gun at you and tell you to get on the ground simply because you are open carrying a gun. However, each individual case could be different based on the circumstances. The Police Commissioner has instructed his Officers that unless they know the person is okay to carry, that they stop them and check them out. This makes sense. As he explains we live in a time of people walking into stores and schools and killing innocent people. If this bothers you; don’t open carry. To require that a Police Officer give a person open carrying a gun some kind of immunity from being stopped is ridiculous. It will never happen. I don’t open carry for tactical and personal reasons, but if I did I like to think I could survive a stop without being placed prone out on the ground. If I’m riding my Harley in a high crime area there is a better chance of me ending up on the ground. This issue always seems to boil down to a rights argument. Therefore I think it is important that Police Chiefs and Legislators quit dancing around the 2nd amendment issue and address the law as it is. Neither Pennsylvania nor Tennessee recognize the right to bear arms as an individual right. We may not agree with that, but this isn’t about beliefs it’s about what you can expect to happen during an encounter with Police. If you believe an HCP gives you some special right; you are headed for problems. Four states recognize the 2nd amendment as a right; Tennessee is not one of them. If you want to be able to make that argument, you need to get that changed first. Two azzholes met on that street in Philly. One that had every intent of non-compliance and causing an issue, and one that obviously had no respect for the citizens of Philly. We had the same situation happen here only the cops did not over react and the HCP holder’s license was revoked. Listen to the interviews of Police Chief Charles Ramsey and Mark Florino on Michael Smerconish’s talk radio show. (There are several on YouTube) BTW…. If you listen to those interviews you will notice that Florino states he had no agenda and was not trying to heighten anyone’s awareness about firearms; he simply liked open carry better.
  17. What court rulings are you talking about JC? Unlike the rest of the state, you need a permit to carry in the city; open or otherwise. Are you saying that some state court has ruled that violates state law?
  18. Do you even have the choice of "pressing charges" in Tennessee on a felony such as Burglary?
  19. Are you full time active duty Army stationed at Ft. Campbell? What makes you think you are a Tennessee resident if you are living in Kentucky? It won’t be confusing for the FFL’s or the Police/ATF (if they get involved). Both will handle it as they please; you are the one running the risk of being wrong.
  20. If you want to make a point you comply and then sue. You don’t refuse to comply, get arrested, and then sue. If Philadelphia city officials don’t want people to allow open carry they need to either ban it by city ordinance, or go to the state legislature and ask them to change the law.
  21. So if the kids just stupid it needs to starve? Many of these inner city kids already know they are going to prison; it’s just a matter of when and for how long. Because if they can’t get money to eat they are going to take yours; by force if necessary, or they are going to sell drugs. You can’t threaten them; they don’t fear you. Jobs is what our communities need. Until we make a decision to make that happen our communities will continue to go downhill.

    "Big Game" Guns

Watch the movie “Prey†before you skimp on a big game gun. Besides Bridget Moynahan is hot.
  23. I tried for a couple of years to get a good deal on a used .357Mag; it never happened. They sell as soon as they are listed. Might as well buy new. Buds sells both the Marlin and the Rossi, but they are out right now. CDNN has Winchesters, but they are $800.

    "Big Game" Guns

The more uncommon a caliber is the more the gun is going cost. In the 5-7 price range you are on the .308/30-06 range. If you are going to hunt something either of those rounds won’t take down; you need more gun money.
  25. +1 I was going to leave this thread alone; but I couldn’t. But then I run with scissors and don’t carry a gun when at home.
