  1. I agree. Battered women on the run from an abusive boyfriend/husband generally don't have the time or money to get a permit. It should be as easy for them to get a permit as it is for them to get an order of protection. If he decides to kill them (and I have seen it happen) having a gun might help, having a piece of paper won't.
  2. No, three states have done that.
  3. Because WORD will punctuate "don't" properly and will spell "the" correctly.
  4. That tries to load the forum page and then asks you to give a log-in and password. I don't think its really what I want. Sorry, Maybe I wasn't clear.... it doesn't work. Can't edit fonts (type or size) and spell checker won't work. Maybe the upgrades will fix it.
  5. I can honestly say that I pray if I ever have to face another rifleman in combat I am armed with my riles and he has an AK.
  6. If Traver was involved in Gunwalker, I doubt he will get the nod. Obama and Holder need to get rid of this mess once and for all. However, they are choosing someone to head the Federal Agency that controls the sale and transfer of firearms in our country; not voting on a head for the NRA. I wouldn't expect a president that is openly anti-gun to choose someone we will like. They need a sacrificial lamb. It appears it will be Melson and not Holder.
  7. You mean like recognizing the right to bear arms as an individual right?
  8. I don't know; I don't use those. Nope. I'm using Jarte now (because it's free and has a spell checker) but I still can't highlite and edit fonts when I paste. I'm not positive I could do that before, but I thought I could.
  9. Wow, thats just a few hours from now. NRA-ILA :: Tennessee: New Restrictions Proposed in White County Could Eliminate Future Firing Ranges
  10. If the county wants to create zoning rules that would make it hard on gun ranges I doubt there is much you can do other than have a show of pizzed off citizens that would make them question their re-election. Is someone the Sheriff doesn't like trying to build a range? If you can get a state court to rule that its gun control; its illegal.
  11. Did he have a big patch on his azz or walk with a limp?
  12. That's what I told the wife. She murdered her lesbian roommate and was a psycho biatch in SOA. This probably wasn't the best character choice right now for her career. Perceptions matter; just ask Charlie Sheen.
  13. Since switching to Office 2010 and IE9, I nolonger have control of the size or type of my font when I use WORD tocopy/paste my posts. It also runs words together. This forum is the only place I experience this. I can't highlight my text and change the sizeor type of font in the forum software, when I try nothing happens. If I want a different font or size I have to place my cursor at the very beginning, changeit, and then type. Anyone else experiencing this? Windows 7 Word 2010 IE 9 I left the “nolonger” “tocopy” “sizeor” and “changeit” where words were run together in case one of the admins wanted to look at it to see if there was anything there. Those words are not run together in the text I pasted.
  14. I don't know if I'm allowed to post the link so do a google search on "The Ultimate C&R Dealer/Distributor list". I've got the best discounts from MidwayUSA, Brownells is second if Midway doesn't have what I want. But their prices are higher and the discounts are less. At least that's been my experience.
  15. I've had my C&R for several years. I've never bought a C&R gun with it, but I've saved several hundred $ with my discount from MidwayUSA.
  16. There's part of the problem.... Americans that think everyone wants our country. China's economy is flourishing because of the money we spend with them. They don't want to stop that. They want it to continue until they become the super manufacturing base we once were; then they won't need or want us. They have no desire to get in a war with us and certainty have no desire to occupy our country. The "fighting on our own soil" is just Internet hype or stuff for movies. As long as our #1 line of defense (Our ballistic submarines) is in place no county on earth will attempt to put boots on U.S. soil. If we have a country to target it will not matter what happens in the attack; they are toast. It's called MAD "Mutually assured destruction". Its what keeps the counties that have nuclear weapons safe, and its why the rest of the countries are trying to get their own nuclear weapons. Until someone develops some technology that assures a nuke can't be deployed; we are pretty safe from another country invading us. Terrorists attacks are a different story, but generally no country is taking credit for those. The decision to nuke Japan was made because the U.S. knew that we would lose hundreds of thousands of troops trying to occupy Japan because the citizens were armed. Even without nuclear retaliations against an invading country the same thing would happen to anyone that tried to invade us.
  17. The communists have always said they would take the U.S. without firing a shot. If they do it, it will be because our greed let them. This can't all be blamed on the government. Some of it can, like allowing conterfitted products to be sold here. China openly counterfeits everything from Microsoft Windows and Callaway Golf clubs to Leupold scopes and EOtech holo sights. They wouldn't do it if they didn't have a market. If you trade in counterfeit products you should be arrested.... its theft and its a criminal act. It's not just China that is damaging our economy and our way of life. I can understand why someone would buy a foreign made product if they can't afford the American made product or if the foreign made product was better quality. But I can't for the life of me understand why someone would a buy a foreign made product that is about the same money and less quality than an American made product. This is a no brainer. In the future our kids, grand kids and great grand kids will ask how we could have been so stupid. Some of you are young enough that they may be looking you in the eye when they ask that question. They will think you were greedy fools that sold out their future by believing statements like "It's a global economy, there is nothing we can do." or "Importing products and outsourcing services to those making slave labor wages helps keep costs down." Unless something changes they will see our founding Fathers and the generations that followed them (the Patriots of the first and second world wars) as the people that made this country great. They will see us as the spoiled, greedy, well-to-do children that thought a dollar was more important than patriotism. Washington has done some stupid things, but they don't control our econemy; we do. And we can turn it around any time we choose.
  18. It doesn't surprise me that a high percentage of shootings and suicides involve alcohol. Most crimes in general involve alcohol or drugs. No news there. I am very likely to down 5 or more drinks in a single sitting. I have zero chance of driving after I have had even one drink. (I know that's rare though) The story seems to be mainly about alcohol/criminals/suicides with firearms owners thrown in as an after thought. People who commit suicide can't read the article, criminals probubly won't read the article.... but hey, by throwing firearm owners in the story it got posted on Internet forums.
  19. Poor mans target trigger. Problem is they came loose or came off. You don't see them much anymore, they were from the 60's, 70's mostly.
  20. It's probably an hour and a half for you, but Terry Waldons range at Manchester has a 300 meter rifle range and a separate pistol range. Unsupervised, $5.
  21. In the event of an all out war it won't be here, and I'm too old to be sent anywhere. But I'll play anyway. My battle rifle would be my DPMS 308 Panther. 2nd would be my M1 Garand 3rd would be my M&P15T Long range sniper would be my Remington 700 VLS 308. "Walking around" rifle would be my M1 Carbine As long as my property is standing; I'm not leaving it. If I do need to leave I have a Suburban. So I don't see carrying stuff as a big issue.
  22. Leave my guns at home. I use to go there 4 times a year. I checked a handgun through once to go shooting with a friend, I wouldn't do it again. You can't carry there, and I wouldn't risk it.
  23. Welcome to Murfreesboro. I'm guessin' that means you gave some MTSU students beer money. Sorry, I couldn't help it. Do you have home owners insurance?
  24. Yes, J. Robert Oppenheimer said it on August 7th 1945.
  25. You think a drunk will know that law? Are you selling it buy the truck load?
