This has been hashed out here many times before… but. The SCOTUS can’t tell everyone they can strap on a gun….. it can’t happen. Not unless they want the Federal government to be responsible for law enforcement for all states. The SCOTUS has had the opportunity to rule on the right to bear arms; they don’t want to; because no matter how they rule it will be a loss. It’s called States Rights, we fought the bloodiest war or nation has ever been in over it… remember? The SCOTUS or no other Federal agency or court is going to tell states they can’t control firearms. The Justices have made that clear in their comments. The only way you are ever going to be able to say that you have a right to bear arms is if we can get our legislators to make Tennessee the fifth state to acknowledge carry as a right. Then there will only be 45 states to go before you can claim it as a right anywhere in our county. How’s that Palmer ruling coming along?

Murder requires specific intent; manslaughter can be negligent or accidental. Shooting at a target you had not clearly identified is negligent. The rifle used was a 30-06. Could someone hit a target at 2-miles with that rifle? No. Could that round kill a person at 2-4 miles? Probably…. But who cares. The fact that he was a convicted felon really has nothing to do with anythingexcept sentencing. Here’s a better written account…. Commentary: He apologized, sort of - phillyBurbs.com : J.D. Many times search warrants are executed without arrests during an investigation. Arrests may follow. If a decision is made not to prosecute; anyone that had money seized as evidence should get it back. If the DA refuses then he is the criminal and the case should become public. I thought it was one thousand. If I’ve told you once I’ve told you a million times….. Don’t exaggerate.

Is ‘Project Gunwalker’ about to bust wide open?

And don’t care. But before you take a cheap shot at me by insulting where I come from; learn the laws of your own state. Are you from Tennessee? If not how long have you lived here? I seem to know the laws better than you. It is a crime for a Tennessee citizen to carry a loaded gun in their car; exactly the same as it is in Tennessee. The difference is that Tennessee allows those of us that can afford to take the class and pay for the permit, the luxury of purchasing a carry privilege. Better than banning carry? Absolutely. Acknowledging a Constitutional right? You have got to be kidding me. “Patron state of shooting stuff†my azz. That had to come from some hillbilly redneck that didn’t know the Constitution from constipation. Now quit worrying about what Illinois is doing, and taking your childish shots at people from Illinois and start worrying about what is going on in Tennessee. Because after all you are…… Worriedman. I’m trying you understand the facts of what’s going on and your running around like a little puppet yelling the sky is falling….. get a grip. -

I didn’t say I didn’t like it here; I am a citizen of this state. Tennessee no more recognizes the right to bear arms than Illinois, California, New York or any of the other gun hating states. It’s a crime for a citizen to carry a gun in Tennessee. If you and your lame azz TFA spent more time dealing with that instead of worrying about Illinois or how you are going to put more money in a Nashville attorneys pocket; maybe you could get something done. -

DEA… 16 new positions to specifically to target Mexican trafficking and associated violence. Four new mobile enforcement teams to specifically target Mexican methamphetamine traffic, both along the border and in U.S. cities impacted by the cartels. ATF… 37 new employees in three new offices. And redeploying 100 personnel to the southwest border in the next 45 days to fortify its project gunrunner, which is aimed at disrupting gun trafficking between the U.S. and Mexico. ATF is doubling its presence in Mexico from 5 to 9 personnel. Yahooooo…. Those all sound fine to me… did I miss something? -

He’s from Tennessee? -
I guess that would depend. If you have a cop or an informant sitting in on the game; a conviction would be pretty easy. This is 2011…. Video…. Audio.

I see noise about background checks and sharing data. I don’t see any suggestions about gun control. Even the President can’t override the court system. -
Don’t sell drugs…. It’s just that simple. We had some nice surveillance cars and some houses used for training or safe houses that we wouldn’t have had otherwise. After conviction take everything… houses, cars, jewelry, guns, bank accounts, and then put their azz in prison. People need to know that if they decide to sell drugs they could find themselves standing on the corner with the clothes on their back. But none of that should happen without a conviction or a plea agreement.

Why would the 338 be a replacement for the 556? The 7.62NATO is a proven performer that is far superior to the 5.56. But some whine that the rounds are too heavy to carry and too hard to come back on target. The .338 is heaver and has about twice the recoil. 7.62 NATO is available and doesn’t have a “designer†price tag attached to it. .338 is far too big for a platform like the AR. .338 is a “one shot, one kill†round, not a “Spray and Pray†round.

I think Obama is a clown and would like to see him and his whole administration impeached. But making claims that are not true will give them an out. Claiming that agents made no attempt to stop illegal gun sales (happens with drugs all the time) is a whole lot different than charging that cartels bought their guns from the U.S. government. Even if the “Gunwalker†claims are verified; what gun laws do think Obama is going to try to pass? I personally don’t know why this investigation is taking so long. I could have finished this up in a few days. Politicians should not be investigators. -

I read the full article; its non-sense and Grandstanding. Illegal aliens and drug dealers have no credibility whatsoever. I have absolutely no concern with what they have to say. To start making claims that cartel guns were purchased directly from the government is ridiculous unless you have something to back that claim up. It makes it easy for the public to choose not to believe any part of it and not worry about it being swept under the rug. -
I would bet money that when this all shakes out it is the arrogance of the people putting on the games that caused this. It’s kinda like running a firearms business without an FFL and then acting stunned that you got arrested and went to jail. You are absolutely correct. This has nothing to do with protecting the poor from themselves (as was always claimed about gambling) and everything to do with money. If people are going to waste their paychecks and take food money away from their kids…. The state feels they need to reap the benefits.

Can we try to keep this discussion serious? A drug runner that is in custody has absolutely no credibility whatsoever. Every drug runner that is captured is now going to be claiming they have information. I would do that too. But I wouldn’t expect people who have an IQ higher than their age to believe it. -

I’d like to see the facts separated from the government/ATF hate garbage. Why would Mexican cartels buy neutered semi-auto AK47’s or AR-15's from gun stores in the US when they could order a plane load of real full auto AK47’s from a country that doesn’t have the laws in place we have, and at a much lower cost? It didn’t make sense when Hillary Clinton made the claim and it doesn’t make sense now. -
I’ve only seen a problem with the forfeiture laws when they are applied to innocent people. Are these guys innocent? A $1000 was seized as evidence at a poker game; no big deal. As BigK stated, you don’t have cash in the open at an illegal poker game. But I’m guessing that isn’t the biggest mistake they made. Could be worse, if it was drugs instead of gambling the state could seize the house. Illegal poker games are busted all the time, usually when the players think they are above the law and don’t worry about discretion.

WTF is a rabid gun collector?
-
That happened years ago on the department I was on when the guys running the game thought it would be a good idea to invite the Chief of Police and a shift Commander. They have to either have cops inside or have a warrant. Some people are just dumber than chit.

Haslam willing to take lead on Internet sales tax
DaveTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Part of a budget is estimating sales and the income from tax on those sales. Internet sales are increasing every year. You think we should just walk away from those taxes and let our services suffer? Throw up our hands and say “Oh well As has been pointed out more than once; this is not a new tax. I’m not arguing in favor of taxes I’m simply stating that if this tax is not collected it will come in the form of another tax; property, sales or gas tax. Probably gas or sales tax. I don’t think those of us that buy products here should pay the tax for those that order from other states. I order a lot of stuff from Newegg. I have to pay a tax because they have a presence in Tennessee. They still have the best prices and I get my stuff the next day. -

If that is true I guess it will be a non-issue won’t it? Amazon has vowed not to pay the tax in California; I guess we’ll see how that works out. Want to make any bets on who wins that pizzing contest? But this thread isn’t really about taxes to many people here; it’s a chance for them to rant about the government. -

Wow man…. That’s some low life :bs:calling me a Democrat. I’ve seen you post some pretty stupid :bs:but I’ve never called you a Democrat. -
Caliber won’t get you into court. You should be worried about what got you into court, or worry about making sure you don’t end up in court. You should shoot something close to what you are going to carry. I’m more concerned that you would be concerned about the cost of one box of ammo for a class. That implies you aren’t going to practice much with what you carry.
