Damn man, they are going to sue you if don’t hire criminals and sue you because you do. The only new gun I was looking for right now is a Kahr. So much for finding a good deal on a MK40. Of course the deep pockets had to take the fall instead of the low life thief that committed the crimes. This is one of the reasons why business owners will never be forced to allow guns on their property or in the workplace unless they want to.

Accidental discharge while checking gun at airport

Was it one of those Glock hunting rifles? -
Carrying multiple state conceal permits
DaveTN replied to Chadastrophic's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Then it’s a moot point isn’t it? I guess that makes the question moot. If leaving a gun lying out in the open and not informing a Police Officer when he stops you makes sense to you; that is what you should. -
Carrying multiple state conceal permits
DaveTN replied to Chadastrophic's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
As usual you don’t know WTF you are talking about. I call the cops and tell them you pulled a gun and pointed it at me during a road rage incident; I describe you, your car, and the gun. You are getting arrested. And if a judge or jury believes me you are getting convicted. -

What’s a “slam Fire” if it’s not an accidental discharge? -

As a former cop I don’t what a Police Officer walking up on me until I have had a chance to tell him I’m carrying. What if someone sees your gun and calls in and says you pointed it at them? They have your vehicle description with tag number, your description, and a description of your gun. Probably enough to land you in court and possibly a felony conviction. Not me... open carry is for at the range or out in the country; not in-town or while driving around. -
Okay…. So you want to do away with all employee perks. Fine, but what about OSHA, EPA, and Lawsuits? What about American companies that have to pay big bucks to dump their waste and protect their employees from injury. You think the Chinese companies get sued when an employee gets hurt? Or fined for dumping waste? If the unions were gone today we would need them back tomorrow. Some of you seem to be saying we should have the working conditions of third world countries as long as it keeps us competitive.

Firearms Freedom Act - Court Challenge Underway
DaveTN replied to MacGyver's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
We have courts to decide what’s Constitutional. You can’t make a Constitutional argument and then throw the Constitution by the wayside. There may be a few nut cases wearing badges; but I doubt enough to cause much of a problem. -
I didn’t mean you are part of the problem. You have to stick up for whoever puts food on your table. The problem is those that will sell out their country in one thread and call themselves a Patriot in another; there’s a word for that. Most of the parts on my Harley were made here by Americans. I’m sure some parts were made in foreign countries. Harley doesn’t have much competition, but they still have to remain somewhat competitive to keep costs down.
-
You mean have a lower price. Foreign countries don’t have OSHA, EPA, retirements, Unemployment Benefits, Disability benefits, 401K, Medical insurance (although that’s one we are losing quickly), overtime pay, etc. Which of those do you want to do awaywith? Only a moron would be laughing at what’s going on. But being clueless about what’s going is is the norm for you isn't it? You can go back to sleep now.
-
Who cares where something is bolted together? Where are the skilled trade jobs, the Engineering, the Mold Makers, Die Makers, Machinists, Welders, sheet metal workers? My Harley may not start if I had to remove all the foreign parts, but Harley Davidson is still an American manufacturer. You won’t ever hear the Japanese you work for saying that Toyotas are American Made. The only people you will hear saying that is the people that buy them and try to make the argument that they aren’t part of the problem.
-
All the guns I have that I bought are made in the USA. I have one foreign gun, but it was a free gift from a friend. All my vehicles are made in the USA, one was assembled in Canada. We can’t buy everything made in the USA, but we can buy the most import stuff… Guns, Motorcycles, Cars, and liquor.

I would venture a guess that they are trying to make sure this bill outlawing open carry passes. NRA-ILA :: California Bill to Outlaw Open Carry Passes Assembly, Heads to Senate

Firearms Freedom Act - Court Challenge Underway
DaveTN replied to MacGyver's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Wake up you’re dreaming. Real cops will never go for that, all you’ll have happen is some hot headed sheriffs or Deputies lose their jobs and end up in jail. Sorry…. No revolution. -
If he had been carrying or driving he would have had to show ID. But he was carrying an unloaded gun. That’s the latest thing for what I believe are anti-gun folks. It’s a game, I don’t think it was a setup…. But you never know. Sure made the guy carrying look like a dufus.

Do you feel that business should have the right to Opt-Out?
DaveTN replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The highest courts in the land have spoken….. All of them. Let’s revisit this when Tennessee joins the ranks of the 4 (that’s right….4…..out of 50) other states that recognize carry as a right. Although you will still be beat down by the fact that you can’t trample all over the rights of businessmen; at least you will be able to get a dog in the fight. -
Please tell me what firearm law you think you could possibly violate and end up in prison? By “discretion” I am saying that just because something is illegal doesn’t necessarily require the Officer to make an arrest. On misdemeanor cases if we didn’t want to make an arrest; we didn’t have to. Our discretion was taken away on Domestic Violence and if I came to your house and your wife says you pushed her; you were going to jail on a domestic violence charge. Even if your wife didn’t want to press charges. Do you think that’s a good thing? Do you think cops are so stupid they can’t tell a real assault from a family squabble? So if you unknowingly walk past a legal posting you think the cop should be bound to issue you a $500 citation and seize your gun as evidence? That’s what will happen when you do away with discretion. I respect Police Officers and military personnel; they have earned that respect unless they do something to not deserve it. I don’t see them as the enemy and I know how to conduct myself during a stop to make it uneventful. If a Police Officer disrespects me I know exactly how to deal with that and get results.
-
A Police Officer doesn’t have the power or the authority to charge you with anything. That is the job of the DA’s office. A Police Officer can arrest you for anything he thinks there is cause to arrest you for; doesn’t mean the DA will charge you, and it also doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good arrest. No one that has ever worked in it has claimed it is a justice system; life isn’t fair, and court isn’t held on the street. I disagreed with the policy that if one family member laid hands on another we hauled them off to jail. I still disagree with it. I didn’t think it was right when our discretion on DUI was taken away. If a driver shows signs of drinking they either blow or they were arrested. But that policy is pretty much standard throughout the country now and at least people know it’s not okay to drink and drive; whether they are over the limit to not. Domestic Violence or DUI are charges that have lifelong consequences. I didn’t think my hands should be tied in making fair decisions.

Using a racial slur is a crime in many states. Some white bum got arrested in Colorado for it because he called a black kid a racial slur. I don’t know if Tennessee has laws against it or not; I would assume they do. -

No one cares what you are in fear of. But if a “reasonable person†(that means the cops, the DA, and then a Judge or jury…. In that order) would believe you were in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm, and it was possible for the person threatening you to carry out that threat; you would be justified in this state and all others (as far as I know) in using deadly force to protect yourself. In short that means they will decide, not if you were scared, or justified, but if they would be scared in that same situation and if your response was proper. Everyone involved from the cops responding to the scene to the jury will have hours or even days to decided what you decided in a seconds. People pull guns and use deadly force all the time when they are not in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm; and they go to prison for it. We just saw that in the case of Jerome Ersland. The jury sent this man to prison for life because he acted after the threat was over. Even though two thugs pulled guns on him and threatened his employees with death; a jury was willing to overlook that and rule that he should have stood down. We can only hope now the Governor or the president will step in with a pardon. -
I have a gallon of M-Pro 7, (I don’t scrub, and I soak.) I think it would make a great ultrasonic cleaner solution.

Well first off they ruled his rights were violated because he doesn’t have a right to carry a gun. He had a privilege. Secondly they didn’t say the gun was illegal. I don’t think the even addressed that. His actions were reckless in the eyes of the DOS and the Court. For that he lost his permit. Would we need to list everything for you that you could do with a gun that would cause you to have a hearing on your permit? Let’s start a list… Strapping an AK47 to your chest and walking through a public park where families are bringing their children for a day out. This hasn’t been tested yet, but I would bet if you throw your AR pistol or PLR-16 on your dash while you are driving around; you will gain the attention of law enforcement and lose your permit. Carrying your PLR-16 in the seat of your car while driving around with your convicted felon buddies that are in possession of cocaine will get you charged in Sumner County with a weapons offense even though you have committed no violation.

A man carrying a Glock under his shirt and driving a Gold Dodge Stratus. The right person reads that or the right person gets busted on a traffic charge and doesn’t want to go to jail, and that guy may find himself in jail. Since she gave the make and model of the car and the manufacturer of the gun; I’ll bet she gave a more detailed description of him. But the reporter isn’t really interested in whether or not you call Knoxville Police now are they?

That’s not a right; it’s a crime in this state. It’s wrong and I will not stop posting that until it changes.
