  1. He will probably get asylum and a government pension.
  2. It just doesn’t appear to me that used guns are selling very well, yet it appears a lot of people are buying new. Has the net killed the used gun market? Many of the guns I see are at, or in some cases above, the cost of new. I can’t count the number of times I’ve seen “I’m only trying to get out of this what I have in it”, or “I’ll save you tax and TIC”. Just five years ago you could find good deals on used. Anymore I’m buying new for less than a lot of the used guns I see that I want. Discuss.
  3. Safety slugs were developed for Sky Marshals. It was not intended as a self defense round. They were then are still are today one of the worst possible rounds for self defense. They are application specific. They may not have the ability to stop the threat and some have trouble passing through thick clothing. They are popular today because there was a move to outlaw them for civilian use. Some people think that anything that is outlawed must be devastating. The move to outlaw them came about because they were called “The Surgeons Nightmareâ€. They fragmented and sliced up internal organs and it was tough for Surgeons to repair.
  4. I agree. I’ll take that one step farther; I support the outlawing of cell phone use while driving. Take your eyes off the road or get preoccupied with a phone for a second and you could kill yourself or an innocent person. It’s common sense; driving takes all your attention.
  5. Welcome to the forum. With the top leather holster makers having six month delivery times and very high prices; we can always use more holster makers. I don’t keep guns long enough to order from someone with those kind of delivery times.
  6. Our department shrink said that gun malfunctions in dreams are pretty common for cops. He said go to the range the next day and shoot your gun. You will eventually be convinced your gun will work, and the dreams will stop. If you have malfunctions at the range; buy a new gun and move on. I guess the same thing would apply here.
  7. I also really like texting. No wasting time with chit chat; ask a question or make a statement and get an answer.
  8. My card got compromised last week. No big deal, MasterCard contacted me to verify and then closed the account and reissued cards; I’m not out anything but a few days without the card. (I use it for everything) But it made me wonder. My card appears to have been compromised after an On-line purchase. Once a company (or anyone their employees) has your account number and code number; they are good to go. It seems to me in this day and age this should be a pretty easy problem to fix. Like MasterCard giving you “one time use†numbers or something for on-line purchase. Maybe all this has already been done and I’m just not aware of it yet?
  9. I love technology when it comes to safety. I wonder how many lives have been saved because someone had the ability to call for help immediately instead of going and finding a phone. Even our cars can call for help when we can’t. I haven’t had a “land line†for years and have no desire to get one again. I have been with Verizon for 10 years (wife won’t change). I do wish they would give those of us that stay with them some financial reward instead of focusing solely on new users; I hate shopping cell phone providers. I have a plan that has unlimited web access, but no data package. Now they tell me to do the “new phone every two†with web and text I have to add a data package to each phone at $25~$35 per month per phone. I wish I could combine my phone, internet, and TV with one company and get a great rate. It will happen one day.
  10. Well you can bet if there is any damage at all the first thing will be to jack the price of gas through the roof. All emergencies justify raising the price of gas nationwide.
  11. With them being gone for “several minutes†and then being charged with aggravated robbery…. He doesn’t need to prove anything. The DA can’t use him as a Witness/Victim and then charge him, unless they drop charges against the criminals and make them victims. DISCLAIMER: Obviously I’m giving the cop the benefit of the doubt over the criminals. At least until there is some evidence otherwise.
  12. Cops are almost always suspended with pay after a shooting incident, and Yes, his car is impounded. I have read on here many times that Tennessee law is different from many others states in that they differentiate between On-Duty and Off-Duty. Aggravated Robbery makes them fleeing forcible felons and when I was a cop I could have shot them while they were fleeing if a reasonable person (a jury) would have believed that they were a continuing threat to the public at large. So the question is… could a Tennessee Police Offer shoot an armed robbery suspect that was fleeing if the robbery occurred in his presence? I would think he could. Then the rest of my question would be can he do the same “Off-Duty†or is he neutered of his responsibility to protect the public? When I was a cop if you wanted a quick pick-up you just went to a bar where they knew you as a cop; has that changed?
  13. On GB in the last 90 days four of those guns (P99AS) went up for sale in 10 separate auctions. Three were new in the box, one was used. All 10 auctions closed with no bids. UHRICHSVILLE, OH NIB $550 3 times no bids BALLWIN, MO $570 USED 3 times no bids MAPLE VALLEY, WA $560 NIB 3 times no bids DOUGLASVILLE, GA $650 NIB 1 time no bids Based on what CDNN is selling the P99 for new, I would say if you could get $400 for used you would be doing good.
  14. It’s a crime to carry a gun in Tennessee. An HCP can give you an exception. But an HCP is not a right and can be revoked if the DOS thinks you are too stupid to be carrying a gun. So while its legal, it could trigger a hearing on your competency to carry a gun, which could result in the revocation of your HCP.
  15. You will be stopped by the Police, and people will call the Police on you. One guy already lost his HCP for doing it in Radnor Park. You have to use common sense.
  16. Yes.
  17. It’s about time someone with some intelligence got involved with this problem. And don’t stop with just knives….Baseball bats and tire tools. I mean my God how many times have we read about someone being bludgeoned to death with a ball bat or a tire tool… far too many to count. And 2X4’s….what about those? Oh yea… and bricks… make them have special permits to sell bricks.
  18. You are in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm or you aren’t. In your house against an intruder, that won’t be much of an issue (but could be under the right circumstances). I’ve been in shootings and always have to smile when I see the “shot placement” remarks. Yes, that is what’s desired, but being able to do that when the adrenalin is at a level you may have never experienced before is what’s in question. Some people will be able to do it; some won’t. You can’t practice for that level of adrenalin, but you can practice Point Instinct Shooting, and you should. Based on my experience and what I have seen go to trial I think we tend to worry too much about what a DA will take to trial in what we perceive as a “Justified Shoot”. I’m not worried about what caliber I’m using, what firearm, what ammunition, or where the shots went in the bad guy. Shooting people with guns kills them, and we can’t be expected to “shot to wound”. We shoot to stop the threat and we continue until the threat is over. The amount we shoot could very easily come into question. Every shooting will be looked at by people that have nothing but time on their side. First the cops at the scene, then the Detectives investing the case, then the DA and their investigators, then possibly a Judge or Jury. Every shooting is different. What you need to do is look out for yourself. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again…. You can listen to all the “Don’t say anything without an attorney” folks you like. And that’s good advice, however… if you are going to do that at 1AM I would strongly suggest you have the ability to contact an attorney at 1AM. Not being able to talk to your attorney until 8AM could mean you going to trial. If I have a clean shoot, I want to make a statement to those cops at the scene and the Detectives that come there. Those guys have more influence over the DA than you could possibly imagine; I want them on my side when presenting my case. At 1AM your future and the future of your family is on the line; have a plan for that. I would say that getting an HCP, practicing, and making plans for what happens before abd after a shooting is taken pretty lightly by most people.
  19. Its older than that, this happened in 2007.
  20. I’m a former cop; (and proud of it) tell me what I missed in the body language. I can’t make out anything. I was in service (proud of that also) and have two Honorable Discharges; how many free passes do I get on dumb azz stuff? Oh wait…. I don’t get any and I don’t start chit with cops.
  21. There is plenty that we could do as a group. Unfortunately we are divided in too many directions. Most care more about themselves than your lady friend; they don’t understand they are one in the same.
  22. I vote with my pocketbook. I have bought more Smith & Wesson’s than I can count and hopefully I will be around long enough to buy many more. Smith & Wesson supports gun rights and my country’s economy more than any gun company I can think of. Their customer support and interface is legendary in the industry and second to none. Who wrote that article?
  23. My Doberman already woke me up when the bad guy opened the back gate. So when he breaks the glass he’s getting shot.
