I’m armed, properly trained, and I refuse to live in fear. I would have gone to the door, but I’m not letting anyone I don’t know in for any reason.

You can drive in other states because of reciprocity; just like some state do with carry permits. It’s a decision made by the state because they want their driver’s license accepted in your state. Some states do not want you carrying a gun in their state and they don’t ask to be allowed to carry in yours. Having a Federal Vehicle Code has been kicked around for decades. We don’t have one because the states won’t agree on one and the Feds don't have the authority to do it.

It’s that way in Illinois also. It came about in the early 80’s from us having to wait for someone to attempt to drive their vehicle away before arresting them for DUI. I watched an Officer get hurt doing that. He was drug by the vehicle and the DUI suspect came a second away from getting shot. Physical control s all that is (or was) required. The test is… without exiting the vehicle can he start it and drive off? If the answer is yes; he’s in physical control. Fair? When it comes to DUI no one cares what’s fair or what your intent is. In Illinois our discretion on DUI was taken away anyway. So it really doesn’t matter what we would have thought your intent was.

Not for looking for a job, but I have an AS9002 yearly audit starting today. Good luck with your search.

The FFL kits are a scam; deal directly with the ATF. We have all thought about getting an FFL; they are only $200, I’d pay that without a second thought. I have a C&R. They aren’t going to let you have one to just buy your own guns. You have to have a business actively selling firearms. I don’t think they are giving them to anyone without a storefront anymore. First thing you can do is check your local zoning and ordnances; they will. I can’t have a business of that type in my home in Murfreesboro; so I was stopped right there. Hope you have better luck.

I would (and did) buy the M&P. I had a full size and a compact 40, sold them and then wanted them back so I bought two more. Buds has the full size 9’s for $478. No point in buying foreign when you can buy higher quality American made at the same price.

Got pulled over by Texas Highway Patrol
DaveTN replied to hammerdrop99's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
There are many of us here that support and respect our Police Officers the same as our Military. Especially those that have walked in your shoes. On this day of remembrance for those chosen few that go towards the danger to help, let me say, thank you for what you do. -
2 dead, 22 wounded in Palmetto nightclub shooting

Two shooters killed a drug dealer in a home invasion the day before. Coincidence? No arrests yet in Manatee's 9th homicide of '11 - Top Stories - BradentonHerald.com -
I think all of us here are for Constitutional carry. I know I would like to see Tennessee become the fifth state to do it. However, until that happens it is a crime for a citizen to carry a gun in this state without buying the privilege. Being stupid about Open Carry can cost you that privilege even if what you are doing is legal. One HCP holder thought open carrying an AK47 pistol in Radnor Park was a good idea. He said he did it to prove a point. The point he proved was that an HCP is a privilege; and his was revoked.

For what gun?

I don’t think they are stupid questions and I don’t want you to think I am against drinking. I love to go out and party, and when I do I drink… a lot. But I don’t drive after even one beer and I don’t take a gun with me. Your judgment can be affected by one drink; I know mine can be. The biggest misconception of all is that .08% is the same as being drunk. I have watched too many people find that out the hard way. I’m not arguing that the .08% BAC is wrong; just stating that you may not feel intoxicated at that level, and “how you feel†is not a good indicator of BAC.

Being a parent is what is all too often forgotten. Teacher’s jobs are more than just teaching. Teachers spend more time with most kids than their parents do. Unfortunately if it weren’t for teachers many kids would have no parent figures. If a teacher does something you don’t like; have a talk with them about it. Whether you like it or not most kid’s teachers have as much if not more impact on them than their parents do.

I would say if you weren’t a DUI suspect; you are good to go. Even if you were a DUI suspect the weapons don’t come into play as long as they are legally carried as if you don’t have an HCP. (Unloaded, ammo and guns not readily accessible) I’m not a cop anymore though, so my opinion means nothing, and even from cop to cop opinions and actions will vary.

At "a few" drinks you are over .08% BAC. As a former cop, drinking and carrying would get you a request to submit to a BAC from me; I would have no tolerance for people carrying and drinking at all. Now you are out of carry issues and into DUI/Implied Consent. If you blow over .08% you have DUI and weapons charges. If you refuse, you have implied consent to deal with, and will still probably face DUI and weapons charges. Without a BAC test both DUI and carrying while intoxicated would be my call. You could easily spend $5K trying to get out of it.

If he got in trouble for not telling her, I would have a problem with it and go to the school. If he told her it was none of her damn business I would have beat my son’s ass. I would like to think the proper answer to her question is “I certainly doâ€. However I probably would tell my son I don’t want everyone one to know because I don’t want to be a target for a burglary.

Remington 597. $150; tack driver out of the box.

Oh now we are bigots or anti-OC because we think that open carrying into a school zone while kids are headed to school is ignorance beyond belief, or is because we aren’t ignorant enough to believe that open carrying is going to change the mind of those that don’t think people should be carrying guns? As usual the OC thread has been reduced to name calling by someone that open carries and got all butt hurt. Man the bottom line is that TN allows open carry (for now). So put on your wife beater T-shirt, blouse your pants into your boots, strap on your Glock in your holster with the leg tie down and head to the mall.

What’s your budget? A flat top will allow you to remove the scope to use your iron sights, but they can’t be on there while using a conventional scope. I have three options for my .308 Panther. A Leupold VX-III 6.5-20x40 LR, a Leupold VX-I 3-9x40, and an Aimshot Relex. Obviously the MOA capability of the three coupled with the rifle, and my abilities are across the board. Depends on your application. My 3X9 would make a good hunting scope, my 6.5 X 20 will easily out shoot it at 200-300 meters target shooting, but at 20X I doubt you could find and acquire a deer unless he stood still for a while. However, I’m not a hunter, and have no desire to ever use an iron sight on a long range rifle.

Crossbreed Holsters has outstanding customer service
DaveTN replied to DaveTN's topic in General Chat
I wanted to try the D.M. Bullard dual carry. But I’m not going to order while they are at 16-20 weeks delivery. I’d really like to see a dual carry with a thumb break. -
A couple of years ago I ordered a SuperTuck Deluxe for my M&P40C, I got it in less than a week. I thought that maybe I could deal with Kydex; I was wrong. So into the holster drawer it went. Recently I read that Crossbreed delivery timers were out 4-6 weeks. So I decided to sell my holster since I could come close to getting my money back, due to the long wait. I sold it to someone local and threw it in my car so I could meet them after work. It melted. Really all I could do was laugh when I saw it. I called Crossbreed and they said to send it in with a note what it needed and they would fix it. That was last Saturday. Today (the following Friday) I got a package from Crossbreed. They didn’t fix it; they sent me a new one. That’s exceptional response time and customer service and I thought it deserved being posted here. So…. I still think Kydex sucks, and now have another reason why. But if you do buy one you can rest assured Crossbreed will stand behind it. Don’t leave it in your car though. Of course when I went to order the leather holster I thought I would like to try; they are 16-20 weeks out on delivery. I don’t keep guns long enough to deal with some of these holster makers.

We got anonymous "suspicious person’s" calls all the time; we responded and checked the person out. That’s what cops do and Police Departments advertise on TV (Crime Stoppers) for citizens to make those calls. If you look suspicious to someone (or they don’t think people should carry guns) they will call. Hopefully we will never see a time when someone sitting at a telephone will decide if someone they can’t see is a threat or not. The cops checked the guy and said he was okay. This was a non-event.
