  1. All people that are threatening cops with weapons are drunk or have mental problems. That doesn’t make it any less dangerous for the Officers. If you have a family member with problems; get them help before you have to call the Police. Police Officers aren’t mental health works, therapists, Doctors or Ministers. Having your family member dead or in prison for felony assault on a Police Officer is not my idea of getting them help.
  2. There is no reason to draw a line between the press and the public. You have the rights the press has; what you don’t have is the privileges. When we would have accidents, crime scenes, the transfer of a high profile prisoners, etc., our Command Officers might allow members of the press in to film for the news. Does that mean you can come in waving your 7D around and demand entry? No.
  3. Resisting has nothing to do with this; unless of course you physically resist when told to get out of the car. There are times you doing not have a “right to remain silentâ€. DUI is one of them. You do not have a right to refuse to answer questions or submit to a field sobriety test. Refusing to answer questions or comply is a violation that will result in your license being suspended. I am willing to bet that refusal to answer questions about guns in the car would lead to your HCP privileges being revoked. Common sense tells me that if the law requires you to tell the Officer you are armed, if he asks; it requires you to tell him where the guns are. An HCP hearing is not like a criminal court of law; they can pull your permit for being stupid. If you refused to answer questions about guns, I would say the Officer is justified in treating you like any other citizen with a gun in the car.
  4. The case you are quoting deals with charges/accusations/rights of recording. This case deals with interference/obstruction of Officers making an arrest on a traffic stop. I wouldn’t care who filmed or recorded what (I would assume that is always happening). But when a person got close enough to me on a traffic stop or arrest to cause me to have to divert attention to them; they were warned to step back. If they didn’t they got arrested. Traffic stops are a deadly place for cops; they need to stay focused and razor sharp on what they are doing. Nothing in the law or Constitution keeps them from making the area safe.
  5. That’s terrible. I would like to know what the NRA told those three people when they ask for legal help.
  6. Guys like that are the reason loaded guns aren’t allowed at guns shows. You let people handled loaded guns and someone is going to crank a round off. Depending on how many people were standing around there are a few people that now have a very valid reason for being against HCP’s. That guy put the lives of everyone around him in danger. He obviously didn’t have the experience or knowledge to handle a gun safely. I checked Google news and didn’t see anything yet, but I doubt this will make it past the press.
  7. I should have known it was either the white man’s fault, or George Bush’s fault. I must need my head examined. I’m think I’m going to go ahead and stay out of this now.
  8. Tennessee has the same gun laws Illinois has; it’s a crime to carry a loaded gun off your property in Tennessee and Illinois both. However, 5% of the population has been allowed to purchase a permit that allows them to carry a gun here; which is a better than Illinois. Some seem to think that is an example of good gun laws. I assume by racist he means that you can’t get carry legislation because the black community doesn’t want it; and they are who elect Illinois politicians. But that’s just a WAG from someone familiar with Illinois politics. The same thing is going to happen here when Memphis finds out they can run the state.
  9. He isn’t going to make a phone call and get an ATF agent, so were they saying they would seize your suppressor? “Officer†as in Range Officer or Officer as in Police Officer? They would need a real Police Officer there to take any of my personal property; and once a real cop showed up I doubt that would happen.

    9mm revolver

S&W made the Model 940 and Ruger made the SP101, you might be able to still find them. They quit making them because they didn’t sell. You can buy the same guns in .357Mag that can shoot either .38 for low recoil or .357Mag for full power SD rounds. They are both top of the line revolvers. Whether or not they are worth it depends on what you think of the round choices.
  11. Because cops are part of a “special Group†just like you are (assuming you have an HCP). However he may want to let one special group carry and one not. That’s how things work with “Special Groupsâ€. Cops might even get a discount that you don’t get. Just like I get a discount because I have a C&R. I’m doubly special. See how that works?
  12. I’ve ordered from Buds before, and I just ordered a gun last Sunday. I have never called; I’ve always done everything on-line. They had information that it would ship in like 5-10 days. But it was at my Dealer Wednesday afternoon. I kept checking their website to see when it would ship. They didn’t have anything until Wednesday morning when it showed “Your order has shipped!†and had a tracking number. When I checked the tracking number it was already on the truck out for delivery to my dealer. I wish I could buy locally somewhere at or near the prices of Buds and CDNN.
  13. Answer the same way, and transport your guns the same way you did in Tennessee prior to getting your HCP and that 95% of the state citizens still has to do. Guns laws in Illinois and Tennessee are pretty close to the same. The main difference being Illinois doesn’t sell the privilege yet to those of us that can afford it and are willing to jump through the hoops. But they are working on it.
  14. There isn’t a way (that I know of) to legally ban open carry while allowing concealed carry without having to confront the open carry customer. I suspect if it ever became an issue (think Kwik) and the law was called, they may have the person leave, but might tell your friend to get off the fence and go one way or the other. So… your friend isn’t worried about what other customers think he is worried that a person open carrying is more likely to start shooting than a person concealed carrying?
  15. We will have to wait and see. As much as I dislike O I don’t think this will hurt him. Besides, if a President can commit perjury in a Grand Jury hearing and not be impeached; I doubt this will do much. I still believe this comes from Hillary making all those ignorant statements about how 80% of all guns used in crimes in Mexico come from us. So far there has been some shuffling of people and some resignations, but that’s expected during something like this. If everyone had just been honest from the beginning I don’t think there would have been much fallout from this operation. All the drama is because it appears an attempt was made to cover it up. As far as allowing illegal sales and losing the guns in Mexico… I’m sure we’ve lost large quantities of drugs in Mexico and even this country. If they did it as part of a legitimate investigation; I don’t have a problem with it. If they did it to make it appear the illegal gun numbers were higher in Mexico than they really are; they deserve whatever they get.
  16. Small talk just to see how you react; people who are high or drunk have a hard time dealing with those kinds of conversations with cops. I want you to have a video camera running when you tell a Tennessee cops it’s none of his business.
  17. I go to Illinois loaded down with guns all the time. I would answer him truthfully. (Because he is going to see all the gun cases anyway). However, my guns are unloaded and properly cased for travel in Illinois. However… I have also been known to run with scissors.
  18. No, I have all my fingers.
  19. I’ve seen that posted here before. I’m having trouble believing that. I could believe that he would need to get an arrest warrant; but I can hardly believe that no one can be convicted on a misdemeanor if it wasn’t committed in the presence of a Police Officer. If I accuse you of battery (a misdemeanor) you can be arrested. People are arrested all the time for domestic violence that didn’t happen in the presence of a Police Officer.
  20. With gun transfers you have two sets of laws, Federal and State. You must comply fully with the laws of both. If you have read through the thread I linked you will see that Tennessee really doesn’t care if the Feds, the state of CA or anyone else expunged or pardoned anything. The thing that you may have going for you is that it was a misdemeanor; therefore you don’t have to worry about being arrested for a felon in possession. You need to talk to a Tennessee attorney that handles these types of cases. I referred a very good friend of mine to one, but he paid $1200 to find out that even with an expungement he couldn’t get his gun rights restored. He could have found that out right here. But he was hopeful a big name attorney could make things happen. If a domestic violence shows up on your record, yes… the TBI is going to refuse you. They do have an appeal process though. You can have an appeal form ready with all the supporting information on it and fax it if you are refused. There are at least two attorneys on this forum; they may be listed in the supporting vendor’s forum. If not maybe they will see this and PM you some contact info.
  21. If it shows up in a background check they can’t buy guns. If they were convicted of a felony; they could be arrested for being a felon in possession. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/2nd-amendment-issues/62707-tennesseann-article-should-pardoned-felon-have-gun-rights-restored.html
  22. Tennessee won’t restore your guns rights on a crime of violence or drugs charges regardless of expungement or pardons.
  23. $444 at Buds delivered to your FFL. Sig Sauer 22 LR 522 model w/Folding Stock Metal Receiver & P $444.00 SHIPS FREE I ordered a gun from them last Sunday and it was at my FFL’s Wednesday afternoon. I notice it says it’s not available on-line, I’d call the store. When I was trying to buy my M&P15-22 they had the best price but didn’t have any. I ask if they could order it or get it from another store and they told me no.
  24. We don’t know. The article said he called an escort service. The only place I have read that he hired a hooker is on here. Even if it he did, would you as a prosecutor want to pursue the robbery case or the solicitation case; you can’t have both. The article also implies that he wasn’t fully forthcoming with the responding officer, but makes it sound like it was with the investigator. Obstruction requires intent; it doesn’t sound like (to me) it’s there. But we don’t know much from a short news article.
