  1. A LEO needs PC, a warrant, is doing an inventory search prior to towing or impounding your vehicle, or consent to search your vehicle. He needs no reason to ask for consent and you need no reason to refuse. If you give consent he can search anywhere he likes. If you have given consent and he wants you to open a safe; you can refuse. You can stop a consensual search at any time. I don’t know why an Officer would ask to search your vehicle without cause, but it happens. I never ask anyone for permission to search their vehicle unless I had ready had PC and was going to search anyway. I just ask to see what they would say and to help me in making a determination on how things were going to go when I found what I was looking for. But you don’t have to comply or open anything even if he has PC; you just can’t interfere with him doing whatever he is going to do. If you don’t have anything in the car and aren’t a DUI suspect, you have nothing to lose by refusing. If you have something in the car or are a DUI suspect; you need to make some quick decisions.
  2. That’s exactly what I’m saying. Right now they are simply violating a provision of the lease, if it is brought to the attention of the property managers. However, you making a public statement about it may cause the property managers to post. They don’t have to give anyone notice, they already did that.....in writing and the people signed it. Entrapment is when the Police entice someone to commit a crime they would not have otherwise committed; it doesn’t apply here. It won’t hurt anyone outside the complex and it won’t hurt the apartment owners. It may cause some problems for gun owners in the apartment if it gets posted. I guess I just don't get it.
  3. So you agreed to that and then violated your agreement. What are you trying to accomplish now, get the apartments posted? They didn’t want you arrested or prosecuted, they just didn’t want you open carrying; they even put it in writing for you. There may be some people living in those apartments that are more discreet than you. You want them charged if they are discovered? Help me understand how any of what you are doing can be good for gun owners.
  4. There isn’t anything “Free Market†about this. Comcast is doing this because it was one of the requirements put on them by the government as a condition for approval of the Comcast / NBC Universal merger. “Free Enterprise†is a term that usually thrown out when a company is ripping off customers. “If you don’t like it go somewhere elseâ€. Well we can’t go somewhere else. “Free Enterprise†would be if I had a choice of cable companies with no government involvement.
  5. AFM 900-3 is the Air Force Manual that describes the requirements. It may answer all your questions, if you can find it.
  6. For your application there are millions of duty holsters out there from when cops were carrying 686’s. I carried one daily and didn’t damage it. Put rubber grips on it and you are good to go. You would have to have a serious accident to screw up a stainless Smith. And even then they are pretty easy to repair. Or, if you want it under your coat, just get a thumb break pancake.
  7. Of course they will and you and I will pay for it; not the government, and not Comcast or Microsoft. There are kids that don’t have food to eat but they will have computers. That is until their parents sell them for crack. Remove the government protection that lets Comcast monopolize the cable industry and see how fast prices drop.
  8. You can’t buy from a dealer because they are bound by Federal Law. You can legally buy from a Tennessee resident if they are willing to sell to you.

    Parole

When a person is on parole they do not have 4th amendment rights. Her parole Officer can check the home any time they please. It depends on her conditions of parole and what her Parole Officer decides. It’s serious though; if they violate her for felon in possession; she goes back.

  12. My first thought also, of something that actually happened where people armed themselves to protect their homes from looters. The New Madrid fault was the first thing that came to mind as a SHTF scenario that could happen without warning; it could happen tomorrow. Imagine what it would be like if Memphis was left without power or fresh water and the entire areas infrastructure was destroyed. No fire, Medical, Police. For days or weeks you could be on your own trying to survive. Mother Nature is tougher and can act faster than any threat we have.
  13. Oh, I thought he was talking about asking the wife to run in and get some beer so she didn’t have to go to prison.
  14. ? Did it not work?
  15. +1 Full size and full weight of a center fire K-frame Smith & Wesson. Excellent for cheap trigger time and an accurate target gun. I bought mine new from Guns & Leather for less than most were asking for used.
  16. You don’t need to PM me the stuff. I was just thinking that if there is the possibility that they will issue a warrant for you; I wouldn’t have a gun and ammo in my vehicle. Too easy to just tack on a gun charge. That’s why I said it usually depends on why they are looking in your vehicle.
  17. You are saying they denied you on a purchase not for a criminal conviction, but for a civil judgment that you have not paid off?
  18. prexactly.
  19. It usually boils down to why they are looking in your car, and why you having a gun is a concern. Generally “close proximity” means that you can’t quickly load the gun and use it. If there is ammo and a gun inside the passenger compartment, that would be a judgment call on the part of the Officer and then the DA. You may end up battling it out in court. Locking the weapons in a case or making them inoperable would obviously help with that. The obvious fix for this problem is to get an HCP. Then it’s this…
  20. Smith & Wesson Model 617
  21. As long as you are with the gun there is no problem. If you have it in a holster they have access to it.
  22. I just got finished writing a lengthy email to my 83 year old father on how to back-up when he gets the external hard drive he just ordered. My sister was visiting friends near Houston and while they were gone someone kicked in the door. All they took was my sisters laptop and camera and a gun from the bedroom. It got my father’s attention as she lost all her pictures. I kept telling them both that waiting until you need a back-up plan won’t end well. Everything’s gone; I see it happen all the time.
  23. I travel to Illinois with a bunch of guns all the time. But then I live on the edge and have even been known to run with scissors. As long as you are a resident of another state you don’t need a FOID card; they apply to Illinois residents only. You can even buy ammo in Illinois; just don’t expect the cashier at Wal-Mart to know that. Illinois laws for transportation are about the same as they are here for a Tennessee resident that hasn’t bought a permit.
  24. My external hard drive. Everything else can be replaced by the insurance company, but all the documentation is on that drive.
  25. It doesn’t appear that it’s illegal to have “Restricted Firearm ammunition" unless you have it while committing a crime of violence. 39-17-1304. Restrictions on firearm ammunition. (a) It is an offense for any person to possess, use or attempt to use restricted firearm ammunition while committing or attempting to commit a crime of violence. A violation of this section constitutes a separate and distinct felony. ( It is an offense for any person or corporation to manufacture, sell, offer for sale, display for sale or use in this state any ammunition cartridge, metallic or otherwise, containing a bullet with a hollow-nose cavity that is filled with an explosive material and designed to detonate upon impact; provided, that the provisions of this section shall not apply to any state or federal military unit or personnel for use in the performance of its duties. © (1) A violation of subsection (a) by possession of restricted firearm ammunition is a Class E felony. (2) A violation of subsection (a) by use or attempted use of restricted firearm ammunition is a Class D felony. (3) A violation of subsection ( is a Class E felony.
