Most any bead blaster will work for what you want to do. I used them a lot in Tool & Die work and have blasted many guns. The most important thing is the media. You want the finest glass bead you can get. It will remove bluing or paint without damaging the metal. The key to bluing is the polish you put on the gun prior to bluing it, so you don’t want to rough up the metal. I have even used it to strip wood stocks. I had to order ours from MSC. It almost feels like powder. I doubt Harbor Freight will have anything this fine. Here’s a link: Loose Abrasives for Sandblasting Equipment - Blasting Media | MSCDirect.com You need to place it somewhere that is easy to clean up. When this stuff gets on a floor it is like walking on ice. Here’s a S&W Model 19 that I stripped in a matter of minutes. No chemicals to mess with and I easily got into all the corners. The polishing takes long enough without adding to it by using rough media. The close-up of the yoke shows what it looked like after blasting. You don’t want it any rougher that that. The key to high quality bluing job is the quality of the polish you put on after blasting. You are going to need a good bench buffer and different grades of polishing rouge. x x

Don’t rely on your prosthetic. My best friend has one arm; he lost the other when he was 3 years old. People are amazed that it doesn’t slow him down much. He had a prosthetic arm made when we were kids about 16 years old. He ended up pitching it; says he doesn’t need it. I’ve not watched him use a semi-auto, but I’ll ask him about this. You are not going to be able to make a fast magazine change…. Period. But everything else shouldn’t be a problem. Push the slide down on the edge of a table and lock the slide back, insert the magazine, use the slide release to chamber a round. Even with thumb break holsters I only use one hand to draw and re-holster. Why is your .357 revolver not a practical carry gun?

I know there are some stupid people out there, but sheesh.

See, the reporting on this story sucks. They make this sound like a serious case; it can’t be. And what’s up with the cops? Either the guy did it as a joke, and the store and the Officers overreacted, or the guy has serious mental problems. The reporter should have indicated which it is. Did he print out one of these? Or the M&P with night sights for $399.99!! It’s hard to find them used for that.

Luv This Coffee shop owner kicks Occupiers out with Police Help...

He was kinda old. That occupying in tents BS is for kids. I’d occupy a donut shop. -
So were they. As a matter of fact we didn’t learn until 30 years later that they already had 100 tactical nukes in Cuba that they were prepared to deploy if we did anything. Khrushchev pulled them out when he pulled out the strategic nukes because he was upset that Castro had been urging him to launch the strategic nukes during the crisis. Everyone dodged a bullet.

Road Rage involving Oak Ridge officers in Knoxville
DaveTN replied to chances R's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
As in all cases the DA will make his decision based on the facts and supporting evidence presented in the reports and may or may not talk with the investigating Officers. He might decide to send it to a Grand Jury. -

We aren’t waiting on ORPD or KPD; we are waiting on the DA. After the DA makes his decision the OR Chief will make his. I figured there would be a decision by now; I know the DA’s office is probably light during the holidays. Maybe there has been a decision, but no reporters have called them to get the story. Anyone know any Oak Ridge cops? Everyone on the Department will know when a decision is made. -
I use them also. I think the total is $32 and change.

Tennessean writing about CCW reciprocity laws
DaveTN replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
It’s only a misdemeanor in Illinois also. But if that turns out to be cocaine, in Illinois drugs and guns is a Class X (highest level) felony. 6-30 years with no probation available. I wonder if NY has something like that? -

This video is worth watching. It only took a jury 30 minutes to acquit a Florida man that says he didn’t know the gun was in his car. His attorney attacked the “Knowingly†part of the law. I know this woman doesn’t have that defense. But the interesting part for me in his story was that the Judge, refused his motion to dismiss, but also said this was not a jail sentence case. Even after more or less being told that the Judge was not going to send the guy to jail the prosecution refused to accept a plea bargain that didn’t include jail time. That just goes to show this isn’t about justice; it’s obviously orders from the Mayor’s office. -
My .223’s are paper punchers, is the green tip stuff as accurate as standard FMJ? (I have a different choice for someone wearing body armor. ) Is the Wal-Mart stuff Federal/Lake City?

Hang it off the end of your M1 Garand where it belongs.

If you want a low cost option to start with why not take a look at the Remington R1? It’s made in American by an American company and costs about the same as the imports. It doesn’t have a rail, but who hangs anything off the end of a 1911 anyway?

Tennessean writing about CCW reciprocity laws
DaveTN replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The state knows who we are. You think the Feds are going to be involved in this without having all the information the state has; names addresses, DOB, where you were trained, etc? I don’t know of anything sinister they could do with that information; but they will have to have it. -
Tennessean writing about CCW reciprocity laws
DaveTN replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The problem with any National Reciprocity law is that there isn’t going to be anything “National†about it. States won’t agree with it any more than they can agree on a National Vehicle Code. People have been driving over 100 years and we still don’t have a National Vehicle Code. Anyone here that reads my posts knows I’m not usually a tin foil hat that sees the boogie man behind everything our governments do, but right now our carry laws are under the absolute control of the states. I see no reason to turn one bit of that over to the Feds; nothing good can come of it. There are states that you are not going to carry in no matter what the Feds do; New York, Illinois, California, New Jersey; so what good does bringing in the Feds in do? I think people need to be crystal clear that their HCP means nothing once they cross the Tennessee state line, and they may end up in jail if they don’t know the state laws of the states they want to carry in. -

Here is another story of a Tennessee woman arrested for carrying and trying to enter the Sears Tower in Chicago. Illinois honors no states permits. Sears Tower tourist caught with handgun - Chicago Tribune Maybe you should do an article for the women’s section of the paper telling them not to rely on their dumb azz husbands to check the laws. -
Here we go again. Well now that we have had a decision from the SCOTUS that owning a gun is an individual 2nd amendment right; maybe we won’t have to go through the crazy jump in prices we had last time. I don’t know though the guys that paid $1500 for a $700 AR back then are going to be looking for an opportunity to get their money back.

Road Rage involving Oak Ridge officers in Knoxville
DaveTN replied to chances R's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The way I read the story he claims that he stopped at a light and they jumped out and approached him. After the incident he may have slowed down or pulled over and allowed them to pass. He said they identified themselves as Police Officers. The Officer that took the report confirmed the vehicle checked to an Oak Ridge Officer. That could have been because they knew the name or they called Oak Ridge PD. -
I’m not up on Colts that much, but if that’s a colt (and not a copy) it appears to be a first series Detective Special made prior to 1940. I say that because it’s a square butt and the round butt became standard in 1933.

FEMA Document (Pulled!) on the Coming Lockdown
DaveTN replied to mcurrier's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
If that’s for me, I’m not a cop anymore, that was years ago. I would never confiscate guns from law abiding citizens, and none of the cops I know would either. Everyone knows anymore that saying you are just following orders doesn’t cut it. The confiscation of guns during Katrina was a small isolated incident, but the media attention it got resulted in laws being passed to prevent it from happening again. 150 years ago Americans took up arms against each other. It was the bloodiest war our nation has ever been in; it will not happen again. We will not allow a hostile takeover of our government and we also will not allow the government to start kicking in doors and taking guns. Because of our economy things are going to get much worse than they are now. You are going to need your guns because at some point the Police are not going to be able to keep up. In some areas it’s that way now. It isn’t going to be the government kicking in your door and taking your guns; it’s going to be criminals kicking in your door to take whatever they want. It’s up to us (The American people) to fix our own economy, bring our manufacturing base back, and put people back to work. It’s still fixable at this point, but by the time Americans realize it’s all on them; it may be too late. -
This movie just never gets old.

Just make sure your dealer FFL is already is on file with them. I use Buds and CDNN for on-line purchases. Buds lets you check your dealer’s status on-line. CDNN doesn’t put anything on-line except their sale flyer; so you have to call them.
