You can do whatever you want with your C&R guns. Just as long as you keep the required transfer information. Sell them, trade them, whatever, as long as you can show where they came from and where they went if you get audited.

Nothing. I don’t know if he is still there, but they use to have a town that cop that wore SWAT gear while making traffic stops. That could be pretty entertaining if you get to see that.

HB 3499 (Faison)/SB (Beavers) - intent to go armed re-defined
DaveTN replied to GKar's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Of course it’s ignorant. I rant about it every opportunity I get. Every time I hear someone make reference to their “2nd Amendment Rights†I think “There’s someone that doesn’t have a clue.†I don’t hang my right to defend myself on a dog with no teeth like the 2nd amendment. My right to bear arms is a natural right. Every citizen has the right to defend him or herself. When the bad guys are carrying guns and you can’t; you are dead. Unfortunately the courts do not now, nor will they ever agree with me unless the state legislature makes it law. I acknowledge and agree that States Rights trump the 2nd Amendment; but they don’t trump natural rights. “Patron State Of Shooting Stuff†“Tennessee is pro-gun†my azz, what a load of 5% of the population can legally carry a gun. For the other 95% it is a crime. Many people can’t afford an HCP; I guess their lives aren’t as important as those of us who can. We all laugh and make fun of the HCP course. Yet the state has the audacity to think that because someone has been through that course; they can drive that down the throats of business owners. Sorry, but that is not going to cut it. If the state is going to force business owners to allow guns on their property it is going to have to be because citizens have a recognizable right; not because a select few sent the state money. The Civil War knocked the teeth out of the 2nd Amendment. That’s why the SCOTUS has ruled the way they have; they had no other choice (Without opening the door for a total ban on firearms). You can argue all day long about the 2nd amendment, talk about the intent of our founding fathers, argue language, or give your own personal interpretation of what the 2nd amendment means. It’s meaningless. I only care about rights that are acknowledged and protected. Unless it’s been canned, there is legislation on the table to allow citizens to carry. I would like to see language acknowledging the right under the Tennessee Constitution, but it is a step in the right direction. It will impact all these other laws about where and when you can carry; lets deal with it first. -
Go to Lowes and buy a new thermostat; they have directions in the box. DISCLAIMER: I’m not an HVAC guy nor do I play one on TV.

I understand the concept of the rights of the people. If you have to buy it; it’s not a right. Not only does Tennessee not recognize your right to bear arms, but they are so arrogant they think they are going to drive a “privilege†down the throats of business. I have an HCP in this state, but I do not support any legislation that picks out 5% of the population and tries to tell business owners that these are the “chosen few†because they spent a few hours at a range smokin’ & Jokin’, and sent the state some money. Citizens have the right to have a gun in their car or they don’t. Carrying a loaded gun in your car in this state is a crime. Until that changes I don’t see how any this legislation could make it through the courts.

HB 3499 (Faison)/SB (Beavers) - intent to go armed re-defined

I think I covered that while you were typing. But unfortunately Tennessee doesn’t recognize that right. -
HB 3499 (Faison)/SB (Beavers) - intent to go armed re-defined
DaveTN replied to GKar's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
They don’t need “intent to go armedâ€; do away with it. Simple illegal possession should be a misdemeanor. And I can’t think of any crime that you could commit with a firearm that wouldn’t already be a felony. Or…. Be the fifth state to recognize the 2nd amendment and the only people carrying illegally will be the criminals. -
My BELTMAN doesn’t show any wear after about three years, and makes a great gun belt. But they are $90. I need one in black and have looked around for something of that quality at a lower price, but haven’t found anything close yet.

Auto-Ordnance started making replicas of the 1911a1 in the 80’s. They were Spanish imported junk. Kahr bought them in 99 and word was they had straightened some problems out, but they are still low end 1911’s ($500 new). However, they have vertical slide serrations and no “Thompson Logoâ€. If you look at the AO 1911TC it has the Thompson Logo and angled serrations, but the pitch is much wider than the one shown in that picture. So who knows.

HB 3499 (Faison)/SB (Beavers) - intent to go armed re-defined
DaveTN replied to GKar's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Seems to me that “intent to go armed†applies to three groups of people. Convicted felons, people in the process of committing a crime other than carrying a gun, and illegals. Seems to clear up the “mere possession†question. (1) Prohibited from possessing a handgun by Tennessee or federal law; (2) Attempting or engaged in any criminal activity; or (3) Present in this state in violation of any state or federal law. -
I’m not a Dan Wesson expert, but it looks like a M715.

Where’s the business owners rights? Not only does he have the right to control what goes in and out of his property, but he can be held liable for a safe work environment. He also has a right to keep his employees from stealing him blind. Entitlement…. Not only does everyone want to tell an owner how to run their business, but they want to sue them the minute something goes wrong on their property whether they had anything to do with it or not. I would feel better about these bills if the state of Tennessee recognized the right to carry, but they do not; it is a crime. If I was a business owner I would be pizzed that just because you pay the state your money, that makes someone qualified to carry a gun in their eyes, and they think they are going to cram that down the throat of business owners. I’d tell the state that I will acknowledge the right to carry as soon as they do; until then they could go pound sand.

Woman Held Teen At Gunpoint After ‘Ring And Run’ Prank
DaveTN replied to mcurrier's topic in General Chat
The “cranking off a round†and the husband getting the kid out of the house makes it sound like she probably has been diagnosed with some mental problems. I wonder if NY will try to justify keeping her out of prison when they want to send the Tennessee HCP holder for three years for mere possession. -
Road Rage involving Oak Ridge officers in Knoxville
DaveTN replied to chances R's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I don’t believe it is okay for anyone to pull a gun when they aren’t justified, but the mere act of pulling a gun isn’t a crime unless it was done without provocation or justification. The DA has all the investigative reports, and witness statements. Based on those he called it justified; that’s good enough for me. I would hope he would decide the same way if it was me and I have nothing to indicate that he wouldn’t. -
Yes, this bill seems to be aimed at allowing you to be armed while in the parking lot, and doesn’t address the drive to and from work for those that park in a lot that doesn’t have public access. Entrance to most secure parking lots requires that you understand you are subject to search. If you allow guns past that point you would then have to understand that employees are subject to search. I see that it offers some protection from civil suits against the business.

Road Rage involving Oak Ridge officers in Knoxville
DaveTN replied to chances R's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Not necessarily; not that they could prove in court. A person approaching my vehicle after some aggressive “Road Rage†type incident justifies me upholstering my weapon; I’m just not justified in using it yet. If he walks away and doesn’t take it any farther, it doesn’t necessarily mean that either of us has committed a crime. Or, depending on the circumstances either of us could be charged. Also, as I said before it’s not a popular choice with DA’s or Police Chiefs to arrest people that have made false complaints against cops. Some people’s heads would explode if that happened. The more popular way of handling that is civil action by the Officers. -

As I’ve said a couple of times; this isn’t necessarily over. Cops face double jeopardy. But this was about criminal charges. Acting unprofessionally or violating department rules & regs is an issue for the Chief; not the DA or criminal courts. -

Beyond reasonable doubt. That is the standard the DA has to look at. I wouldn’t want him to charge an HCP holder just because he can, and I expect these Officers to be treated the same way. Do you know of a case where this DA charged an innocent citizen who pulled a gun on an aggressor in a road rage incident? No need for a tin foil hat, you are a grown 31 year old man; trust what your common sense tells you. -
FAIL. I know I’m wasting my time, but I don’t have anything else to do right now. I chastised you for starting an email to a black man who is a City Councilman and a Pastor, with Hey (N-Word), filling it with ignorant rants, ending it in a threat, a signing it “Noah of Godâ€. All over something as silly as the hours at a race track and all while thinking your identity was safely protected by the internet. Now you are here, unrepentant and even arrogant, blaming the victim, and suggesting that he had some agenda for calling the Police and suggesting that your attorney would attack his credibility. Does that pretty much cover it? Because that is the first thing that is truly unbelievable. The second thing that is unbelievable is that after TGO David temporally locked the thread with the accounts of your disgusting behavior, you would jump in this totally unrelated thread and attack me. You either have serious mental issues or extreme learning disabilities to in any way shape or form tie what we are discussing here with the comments about your criminal behavior.

One of the mistakes I think people make (including those in law enforcement) is that they are going to “scare†these guys with anything. You aren’t. They are raised knowing that they are going to prison. It’s just a matter of when and for how long. The only thing you can do to break up the gangs is put them in jail. Untie the hands of the cops, let them use the legal tools they already have, support them, and start building more prisons.

Road Rage involving Oak Ridge officers in Knoxville
DaveTN replied to chances R's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The only facts we have right now is that the DA ruled someone was justified in pulling a gun, and that the witness’s story doesn’t support the "victim’s" version. I don’t see a problem yet. -
Exactly. But stand by….. you are going to hear a bunch of dumb azz Thomas Jefferson quotes.
