  1. I would suggest you let them get an education, if they are going to get out; not take jobs away from law abiding citizens. If they aren’t getting out they are there for punishment, not rehabilitation. So who cares what they do? Let them stare at a wall. Make prison be a place even thugs don’t want to go, instead of the glamorous Alma Mater of their other family members. And let’s hurry up and start getting more of them built. Unless our economy changes and we start getting more jobs; we are going to need them.
  2. Someone at GA has been drinking while they were writing articles.
  3. Take a look at the Smith & Wesson SW191, Kimber Gold Match II, or the Springfield Trophy Match. Any of the three are probably as accurate as an Ed Brown, at less money, and are better than anything CZ offers. Spend the hundreds you save on range fees and ammo.
  4. Gun broker has hundreds of listings for them; you have to sign in to be able to search auctions that are completed. Brand new in the box model 60’s (in .38) are listed with a starting bid of $549 and are ending with no bids. Bids stops around $350 on the used ones. There is one used one I see that sold for $450, but it was a 3†Lady Smith. Model 60 is the King of the J-frames. Especially if you find one of the .357Mags. The guys wanting to resale it aren’t going to offer much more than $350. If he found someone that is specifically looking for a stainless J-frame, he could probably get $500. If he’s just looking for a trade, he should be able to trade it pretty easy for most any of the Tupperware guns, M&P, Glock, etc. He needs to point out its best feature…. It’s not Aluminum, Titanium, or scandium…. It’s Stainless…. And Stainless is King.
  5. Oh… like you care. Using prison labor comes at the expense of a citizen’s job. You deserve what you got. I think it’s funny and see no need to replace them.
  6. Don’t put gun signs on your house or car. She planted one in his chest, he shot her in the leg. Even standing in his house with cover, the victim exposed himself and obviously was not prepared for what happened. The good guys don’t always win.
  7. It would be pretty hard to hit something flying in excess of Mach 5, even if you were in the area and ready for it.
  8. Anything’s possible, but “Mutually Assured Destruction†is still in force. If they had a missile, and if they launched it, they would have to do it knowing that their leaders and many of their people will be killed immediately. The threat of a nuclear attack may be real, but an EMP that can disable our ability to launch our missiles or defend ourselves is not. Even if there was EMP capability that could take out the mainland (There isn’t anything close), our ballistic submarines are all over the world. This stuff is just fear mongering to get support for blocking other countries from having nuclear weapons.
  9. He had Asperger's syndrome, what would make you think he didn't have the ability to reason or communicate?
  10. Well for those that say cops cover up for each other, that certainly doesn’t appear to be the case here. I didn’t get to see the video and the letter recommending his dismissal until now. I don’t know anything about this Trooper, other than hat is in the story, but this appears to be a witch hunt spearheaded by his own Command Officers. They say it was a legal pursuit that violated no policies, the suspect was fleeing, lost control of his car, which no one is claiming the Trooper had anything to do with, hit a tree and was killed instantly. He slowed after losing sight of the vehicle and then stopped further down the road. What possible reason could this Trooper have for ignoring the crash on purpose?? And then they want to use the fact that he tried to call an attorney and as indicator that he did something wrong. He was just in a pursuit were the suspect was killed; I think contacting a PBA attorney when you know you are going to be interrogated is not unreasonable. As someone else said there must be more to this story than is being made public. Now I want to know what it is. This was a criminal that was putting everyone lives at risk and died while committing a crime. Now because they are going after this Trooper the family has decided they deserve a payday. If they fire this Trooper and it is determined they didn’t have cause; he will get a settlement also. So…. The family of a criminal who was killed instantly of his own doing and a Trooper that they say didn’t do his job are both looking at costing the taxpayers a lot of money. I think we deserve to know what’s going on here. The THP needs to speak up.
  11. Fleeing puts the public in “immediate danger of death or great bodily harmâ€; that should justify the use of deadly force. Nature took care of this case on its own. I don’t understand why anyone would think the crash was the Troopers fault? Whether or not he saw it is mere speculation, not "beyond reasonable doubt".
  12. I have an HCP, but I don’t have gun rights in this state, so I don’t make that a priority when I travel. I have traveled all over this country and continue to do so. I want to get back to D.C., just so much to see there and so little time. Chicago has the best museums, restaurants and night life in the world. The Museum of Science and Industry and the Museum of Natural History is a must for your kids. Don’t make them miss it because you can’t carry a gun. If I could only visit the places I could carry a gun; it would make for some pretty boring travel. I do most of my long range shooting in Illinois have traveled extensively in California. I rode my Harley from Illinois to California; great trip. I legally took a gun with me and I didn’t have to stop at the CA border.
  13. I can understand how someone could get a house number wrong. But having done these types of raids I don’t know why they would need to know it. We knew the house on sight, we knew the players, who was going to be in the house and who we wanted to immediately control. We did it in full Police uniform, the same uniform a street patrol Officers wears. We never had an Officer shot during an entry and never had anyone that was confused about who was coming through their door. Gosh, looking backing on that I don’t know how we managed to stay alive not having our patches and badges subdued and not wearing masks. I understand that sometimes a no-knock warrant is needed. But they should be handled with extreme caution, and only after alternatives have been exhausted. Take the main players when they walk out of the house, and then execute the warrant on the house. Have undercover Officers inside the house when the raid goes down. Be creative. If I see identifiable uniforms and Officers yelling they are the Police; I’m not going to try to engage them. Dying and putting your family in danger in a hail of gunfire isn’t macho; it’s ignorant.
  14. That very thing did happen here… in Lebanon a few years ago. Police had the wrong house number, kicked the door, the old man in the house grabbed a shotgun and they killed him. They didn’t try to plant any drugs or act like it wasn’t a mistake; it was. I think the lead investigator was even charged criminally, but if I remember right charges were dismissed. The wife sued a got a settlement, the amount was never released, but I bet it was a bunch. Just like the raid in this story it was incompetence; there isn’t any other name you can put on it. I understand that Police can make mistakes, but the very instance they realize a mistake has been made they should be trying to make it right. It didn’t take 35 minutes to discover they were in the wrong apartment. That means they held her on the floor while they tried to figure out what to do….. That should be criminal and charges should be brought. Chain Saw?? Give me a break. I hate to see cops busting into houses with subdued clothing and wearing masks; there is no need for it. The Chiefs and Sheriffs that allow it should be ashamed. I’m glad this woman wasn’t injured, but I’m sure she now and forever suffers from PTSD; and she needs to get paid.
  15. Aren’t you the one that started the thread about losing your temper and throwing company property around at work? </SPAN>
  16. Or you could just go to Anniston to get your Garands; that’s where I go. They cost hundreds less than the gun show and they have armorers behind the counter that will check out the rifles for you and give you pointers to educate you.
  17. It’s just interpretation. You seem to be appalled that the same rules that would allow a Police Officer to secure a weapon during traffic stop and check it for stolen when stopping a gang banger, also apply to you. The prison tats aren’t always on the forehead and sometimes it’s hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys. The legal interpreters of the Constitution that were set-up by our founding fathers are either okay with it or their not. As I said before if you think your rights have been violated you have recourse. Is the cop going to lose his job or even be reprimanded because he ran the numbers off your gun? No, because he is going to be able to explain why he did it (if he is even called in). Maybe someday the courts will say that isn’t allowed, maybe someday court will be held on the street prior to the search, I don’t know, but for now they do what they have to do. I support our Police Officers and too many of them die needlessly every year. Our founding fathers didn’t create any law or amendment to the Constitution that means a Police Officer must put his life at risk. If a gun is involved they have the right to secure it for their protection and the protection of others around them; I don’t care if the gun is in the hands of the pope.
  18. We have to either get our economy fixed and get people back to work or we need to build more prisons. Since fixing the economy rest on the shoulders of the American people; I would suggest we start building more prisons. As our economy gets worse you are going to see more and more of your friends and family become victims of violent crimes. The Police try to do what they can; but they are reactive not proactive. We are moving towards having more people in public service and medical than we have working in jobs that pay the bills. That can't work.
  19. You wouldn’t be King for more than a day; the criminals you are trying to protect would drag you to into the street, kill you and eat you; you have no protection. The people that were left to witness that would probably do away with the whole King idea after seeing what happened to you. They might think a Democracy or maybe even a Republic might be a better way to go. Maybe in their new set of “Rules†they will make all searches require a warrant? Maybe they could do away with traffic stops altogether. Maybe they have cops be dispatched from a “Police House†just like firemen are only when they are needed. Oh but wait….. You are going to have a problem. You are going to have deal with the families of the dead victims. The families of the kids that were killed by the drug dealers and users you protect, or the families of the dead victims of the drunk drivers that your “Technology†didn’t work on. And because you want to completely tie the hands of the Police, or not have cops at all, there will be a lot of those people speaking out…. And running for office. Maybe when they want justice you can throw out some old Thomas Jefferson quotes taken out of context and that will help.
  20. The 4th amendment protects you from unreasonable searches. Not all searches, just unreasonable ones. It also doesn’t require a warrant for all searches. Rarely are you going to see (or need) a warrant on a vehicle search. Even a fith grader knows that. I see them as good cops doing their jobs; trash collectors if you will. You see them as picking on the poor drug dealers and gang bangers. I’ve never ask for permission to search a vehicle that I didn’t already have PC to search, and I’ve never (That I can remember) not been able to search a vehicle that I wanted to search and do it legally.
  21. Are you kidding me? We have a President right now that is the most beatable I have seen in my lifetime. Yet he is going to remain in office because the republicans don’t have anyone to run against him that can beat him. Why? No one wants the job; they don’t want to deal with the people that pry into everything they have ever done in their lives. Good people don’t want the job. Yet you think you are going to find a bunch of good ole boys that are living at the foot of cross, have as much legal training as a criminal defense attorney, are experts on the Constitution and the case laws that go with it, will work for what a cop makes, and know that they are going to be fired and go to jail if they make a mistake? Good luck with that. Just because some liberal criminal hugging Judge wants to restrict a cop’s ability to do his job, doesn’t make it right. Only the courts can rule if there is violation of rights. Not the Police Department, not the DA, and not some goon squad you want to put together to fire cops. Yes, I have seen the caliber of cops go down. And it’s going to get worse because the best don’t want the job; they don't want to work for people like you.
  22. I worked with plenty of cops and I certainly know they can do wrong. They can do wrong intentionally, and they sometimes make mistakes like all other human beings. But I wouldn’t want to see them go to trial just because they are cops any more than I would want to see one of us go to trail just because we are an HCP holder and “Should have known betterâ€. And I sure don’t expect to see them take the heat for everything you think is wrong in government simply because they wear a badge. The cops are cleared so now you suggest that the DA may be corrupt? Is that possible? Sure it’s possible, if you want to believe that all the investigating Officers involved, all the Command Officers involved at KPD, the Chief of ORPD, the Assistant DA, and the DA are all corrupt. You would have to have you tin foil hat on so tight it cut off the circulation to your brain to believe that. Have you considered that maybe the police spokesmen aren’t going into detail because they don’t want to drag the guy who reported this through the mud any more than he already has been? They told you that the witness accounts don’t match what he said. Case over; they have no need to make their case in the press.
  23. If anything is in plain view (gun, computer, whatever) and the Officer can articulate PC to pick it up and look at it, a warrant isn’t needed even in your home. The courts are stricter on taking items from or entering a home than they are a car; but plain view doesn’t require a warrant. It also depends on how and why the Officer is standing in your house. You have a right to bear arms on your own property without a permit, but if an Officer is called there on a domestic or a neighborhood situation and you are involved and standing there with a gun on or a gun is in the room; gun control goes into effect. Whether or not the guns stay there when the Officer leaves depends on the situation. But serial numbers would be getting run if it were me. I agree wholeheartedly. However, just like those that claim to have some kind of guns rights under the 2nd; they are just talking points, the courts don’t agree and you will still end up in jail if you use them as a defense. Fact is, your gun “rights†are very focused and very limited. The U.S. Constitution will never be used to expand them. If carrying a gun is going to be recognized as a right it is going to need to come from each and every state individually. Right now the score is 46-4 and Tennessee is on the wrong side of that.
  24. I have no idea what the policy is in Rutherford County or if they even have a policy on what they check. I’m not a cop anymore and never was in this state. I would guess it’s like any other department though; what gets checked or doesn’t get checked is at the discretion of the Officer and what he can justify.
