  1. It’s a designer round for the sissies that can’t handle the .45ACP. Like the .357SIG, or the .45GAP; it was the answer to a question that had not been asked. It is a good “conversation piece†though. Unfortunately for the 10mm shooters the conversation usually turns to physics and generally ends with them hearing; “Its physics, you wouldn’t understandâ€.
  2. What country is going to try to do that knowing that they would be killed as soon as their missiles launch? No country on earth that has the capability to launch a nuke is going to launch against us. No country on earth is going to try to put boots on U.S. soil. Those are both acts of suicide; our subs, bombers and carriers would kill everyone involved. Terrorist attacks are very real. An attack by another country or by someone gaining control of a nuclear weapon are not.
  3. I walked in with a gun case in my hands and immediately had guys asking what I had for sale. They were like vultures around the door. I didn’t find anything. I got a bunch of gun money burning a hole in my pocket and can’t find anything to buy. That gun show always smells bad. Is it the building or do a lot of gun people in the Murfreesboro area stink?
  4. Knowing someone trumps a good resume any day. There is a reason social networking is so big.
  5. The Officers names have already been released. If you are that interested in this try to keep up.
  6. Thanks, I think I was good cop and I tried my best, but I just couldn’t do it anymore. It gets old. It takes a very special person to stay at that job. Not only will the public turn on you but your own department will turn on you if it benifits them. Who would put up with that for a full career? I don’t have a dog in this fight anymore, but I see people attack cops just because they are cops and I have to laugh out loud that people will even listen to them. Man, I’ve meet plenty of bad cops and some of them even retired. But you don’t hear about how some of the cops are reprimanded or suspended over BS that means nothing. You usually only hear about the cops that are fired or are in a high profile case. When the cops are wrong I am the first to say so and have even suggested to people how to deal with it. But dang man look at the two cases we have going here right now. This one has absolutely no evidence that the Officers did anything wrong. No witnesses have come forward and said the cops did anything wrong. The DA says the witness statements don’t support the story the other driver is telling. It’s over….period. An if that was an HCP holder that was facing charges it would be a great thing that justice was served; but because its cops, there must be a cover up? And now the DA is corrupt. And the other case where the THP Trooper is accused of driving past some dirt bag that just killed himself while putting everyone on the road at risk. Why??? What possible reason could he have for doing that? And it wasn’t even the public or the family of the dead perp that went after him; it was a high ranking THP official. They are going to fire that Trooper and end his career over something that doesn’t even make sense in the way it is being presented. A Police administrator goes to the scene, drives his car through three times at different speeds and makes a determination that a Trooper pumped up on adrenalin and probably experiencing tunnel vision during a chase, should have seen a crashed car at night. That case is so bizarre it doesn’t even make sense to me…. I want to know what’s going on. No you don’t feel the same way about cops as you did when you were a kid, none of us do. I have been there, walked in their shoes and seen the demons. But I don’t hate cops; it’s a job. It’s a job that someone had to do and I would like to see them at least have a shot at getting good cops. But cops make mistakes. Are they arrested and fired? No, not generally. But what are you going to have if start having panels of people to fire cops every time they make a mistake? You are going to have a revolving door and a Police Department that is filled with people that can’t find a job anywhere else and know they won’t be cops for long. Policing has changed. When I was a cop we were expected to be social workers, marriage counselors, ministers, cops and street cleaners. That has changed. Cops are there to enforce the law. If that isn’t what you want, call your Minister; not the Police. I tell people that ask me if they should call the Police on an unruly child or a partner that is threatening them that they shouldn’t unless they want the partner arrested for Domestic Violence or their kid placed in Juvenile Detention. Times have changed and the hands of the cops are tied in many cases. I go on my tangent every once in a while about cops kicking in doors while dressed in subdued uniform and wearing masks. You can’t say they are bad cops. They are just immature cops that watched one to many episodes of SWAT when they were a kid. The real “Bad cops†in that scenario is any Chief of Police or Sherriff that allows that.
  7. No one can comment on it because nothing close to it has ever happened. A country where a large percent of the population is armed, the government collapses… a government that has Ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads scattered all over the world on submarines, Aircraft Carries all over the world with nuclear weapons, Bombers sitting on runways ready to be deployed, and missile silos that that are targeting all major cities that could take action. That has never happened.
  8. As long as you keep it civil and don’t start using phrases like “most cops†or simply want to see them go to trial because they are cops; your remarks may get negative responses but that doesn’t mean they can’t be discussed. I can remember when this thread would have not gone on this long without being locked and at least a couple of people banned. If you think there is a cover up, I suggest that it is because of the media, not the cops or the DA. Have any reporters been to the DA’s office to get any specifics about the case? Can the DA give any specifics without compromising the investigation the ORPD Chief is conducting, or any other possible criminal or civil cases that may be coming out of this case? Is it appropriate to name witnesses or say what they said to investigators simply so you can have a warm fuzzy feeling about the PD? Is it right for them to give information that is going to throw other people under the bus? Of course it isn’t because if you don’t know your local cops or your Police Chief it isn’t going to make one bit of difference. And if you do know them you aren’t going to make decisions based on sketchy info in a newspaper story. So hit the undelete, remove the stuff that will get you banned, and post your thoughts.
  9. You sound like you are looking for a paramilitary group. Nothing wrong with that, I would like to live like that. Problem is that most of those end up crossing the line (Federal Weapons Charges) and go to prison. I’m not going to prison. On 2nd thought I doubt there will be any openings for you.
  10. No offense to your friend, but that’s a fancy name for a secretary. Secretaries shouldn’t be making $56K a year unless they are involved in the operation of the company. Of course they aren’t going to hire her at the Shell station, by the time they had her trained she would have found another job. If she wants to work at the Shell Station or Wal-Mart she needs to either have a resume that is targeted at that position, or not use a resume at all. Someone with a BA in business should know that….. Don’t you think? Pharmaceutical representative? Nashville is one of the top medical cities in the country. He should be able to find something here, but it will probably involve travel, at least locally. That’s true. I could double my income by moving tomorrow, but the wife says she is not leaving here. So I stay here making less than I made 15 years ago because she is happy. But hey, at least for now I have a job, that’s more than many can say.
  11. That’s what I was thinking. Yeah, I don’t need “Complete Uniform setsâ€, “Tactical Gear Sets†or “emergency survival foodsâ€. Uniforms and “Group Buys†don’t really sound like a Patriot Organization. However, I will be the first to admit that I think any “Patriot†or “Survival†group is going to get pretty close scrutiny by the FBI and DHS.
  12. I bought a pellet gun for taking out a skunk that sprayed my dog (What a mess!!). I figured that no matter how quite it was if I shot that Skunk with my .22 the cops would be there to put me in handcuffs and take me to jail. The skunk never came back after I got the pellet gun. It’s fun to shoot in the attic though. $269 is a heck of a deal for a lever action Henry.
  13. It’s Social Security and Medicare and is probably closer to 15% than 9%.
  14. The Sigma was a disaster for the quality reputation of S&W. The SD was supposed to be a better Sigma. One of them has to go, but now there is talk (rumors) it will be the SD. There isn’t enough price difference with the SD for it to compete against the M&P. And if they dump the Sigma they risk losing the price buyer market. If it were me I would drop the Sigma and put the SD at the price point of the Sigma.
  15. We agree on the cause, but I don’t think we agree on the fix. These politicians can only do so much; the majority is up to us. I think we are nearing a time now when our kids and Grandkids will look us in the eye and ask “How could you have allowed this to happen to us?†Giving them a speech about the “Global Economy†or how American manufacturing couldn’t produce a product at the same or lower cost will make those that try look like idiots in their eyes. Glad I won’t have to do that. I’ll have to apologize for my generation, but long after I’m gone my family will be able to tell them to look at my actions. Of course that won’t help them any, it will just show them we had a choice.
  16. Yep. Police and Military aren’t using the ammunition they have because they are highly trained. They use what are told to use. What they are told to use is often chosen based on politics or picked by people that are clueless. I am both former Military and Police. I own an AR in .223 but I wouldn’t choose it for a battle rifle, it is a long range paper puncher and I haven’t owned a 9mm handgun in over 20 years.
  17. I agree. The tax base would increase because of the paychecks and spending of those new jobs created. Many states are waving taxes and giving away land to get companies to locate in their states. I don’t know what the Feds are doing. But to have high paying skilled trades manufacturing jobs as opposed to low paying assembly jobs we need have a market to sell those higher quality products. Skilled trades and Engineering jobs that require a lot of training are vanishing in this country. Tool Makers, Die Makers, Mold Makers, real Machinists, welders, Electronics Techs, etc. are having to switch fields or become button pushers at lower wages. The skilled trade jobs are being done in the countries with lower wages and the parts manufactured are sent here for assembly. That’s how the “global economy†works. Level out the standard of living so everyone is at the same level. Our politicians and most Americans seem to think that is a good idea. By the time “most Americans†figure out that the Politicians are unaffected and get to keep their high standard of living, but they have just sold out their jobs and their standard of living for themselves and their kids; it’s too late. If that sounds like a good idea to you; that is the way we are headed. I don’t know if it’s too late to maintain our place at the top of the standard of living for the world or not; but we owe it to future generations to try. This ain’t rocket science, and Protectionism and Patriotism are not bad words.
  18. Exactly. But that’s my point. Remington and Springfield Armory are making 1911’s that are price competitive with RIA, but because RIA/ARMSCOR/Whoever will always be cheaper they are “better”. ; they are not near the quality. But they are made by a company that can adjust the price to keep the bottom feeder market and still make plenty of profit. The U.S. manufacturers paying a good wage can’t do that. Smith & Wesson is taking the LEO market (and the civilian market that follows it) away from Glock. That didn’t happen before because there wasn’t an American made product that was the quality of Glock at that price point. The M&P is a better weapon at the same price point, yet many still will spend their money on a Glock or even a Croatian made XD. It doesn’t make good sense.
  19. Probably just lead poisoning.
  20. I had a brand new, never been used, one for an M&P for sale for several weeks. Even with Crossbreed having a six week wait I couldn’t get near what I paid; the offers weren’t even worth responding to. I pitched it back in the Box-o'-Holsters.
  21. I can’t do a comparison on a Milt Sparks, but I have in front of me right now a D.M. Bullard Dual Carry and a Crossbreed SuperTuck Deluxe for an M&P 40C, both brand new. They are both very nice holsters, but it comes down to leather vs. Kydex and that’s a hands down win for leather.
  22. You mean like OSHA, EPA, Unemployment Insurance, Health care, labor laws, taxes?? Many of our foreign competitors don’t have any of these costs. Which would you like to do away with?
  23. Nope, I select my ammunition on its ability to stop the threat and my carry application. I don’t base it on who is carrying what, or what it costs to shoot. I have had to fire my weapon to save my life; if it had failed I would be dead. I think about that when I select a handgun or its ammunition.
  24. Neither the government nor the President has anything to do with Jobs or the unemployment rate unless they are creating some new government bureaucracy that will employ a bunch people. (TSA, Homeland Security, Drug testing welfare recipients in Florida, or whatever.) The people decide what the unemployment rate will be, and we are doing a terrible job. The politicians on both sides just manipulate the numbers for their cause.
