  1. “Going down swinging†is suicide by cop. You would have to mentally defective to pick that option. No one here… let me start over… almost no one here believes that they are going to grab you and hurt you, or that you are going to be locked away. That doesn’t sound remotely like any discussion my wife and I have had about what to do if someone tries to grab her.
  2. Personally, I think looking at your 200 yard target you are having some fun with us. But… the only suggestion I can make is that you put a good scope on and bring all those shots into the X ring.

    SW E series

I’m curious about these also. What’s the difference in the “E series†and what they were making before? I have a stainless SW1911 target (408284) it’s the same as a 108284 except LEO model with 3 mags instead of 2. Buds last price on the 108284 was $911, last price on the 108495 (e series) was $882. The difference in these two models appears to be adjustable target sights and woods grips vs. Crimson Trace Laser grips. With Crimson Trace grips being $339; the E-Series seems to be a pretty good deal if that is the only difference and you don’t absolutely want target sights. I would order one of the E-Series at $882, but haven’t found anyone that has them in stock. http://www.smith-wes...playErrorView_Y http://www.budsgunsh...CT+8R+Stainless
  5. Don’t take you eye off the ball in this Presidential election. This election is about the economy and jobs. If our economy fails; gun legislation, abortion, etc., won’t matter. Your state legislators are going to be making the gun laws that impact you; not the President. The sad part is that Obama is the most defeatable President I think I have seen in my lifetime and the Republican Party can’t come up with anyone that can beat him. Those that would be good at it; don’t want the job. Unless something happens between now and August I’m afraid it’s four more years of Obama. I also think the general public supports gun control. So when they hear “more stringent background checks†or banning “Weapons of unusual lethalityâ€; they either don’t get upset, or they just don’t care because there are more pressing issues. My vote this election will go to whoever I think will help to bring our economy around and help bring jobs and manufacturing back to this country. The President will have far more impact on that than he will on my gun rights.
  6. I don’t hunt, but if I was hunting big hogs, a 45-70 lever would be my second choice. My .308 Panther would be my first choice for anything that could attack me; man or beast.
  7. Some general observations…. As a cop in Illinois I had to try to have a couple of people committed. It was no easy task and usually ended with them voluntarily committing themselves. Even when we were called out on attempted suicides; we couldn’t act until the person made some kind of attempt. We couldn’t haul them off to the ER or Psych Ward of the hospital just because they were threatening to kill themselves. Do they allow Tennessee cops to haul you off because you talk about suicide? On here, some really don’t care if he has mental problems; they only care that someone wants to take his guns. (He says his guns have not been confiscated.) If you are crazy you will get a lot of people’s attention; if you are crazy and openly carrying deadly weapons you will get everyone’s attention. Maybe this guy is crazy. I went to his YouTube channel and watched some of his videos; I think he is as crazy as a loon. I saw him pull a gun, wave it around and make threats, and his talk of killing children is not that of a sane person. (And I didn’t watch but parts of a few videos) Just like someone else we all know; his internet ramblings and his videos will probably be his downfall. He doesn’t show what that letter is that he is waving around and carrying on about. Is it a response to a firearms purchase denial appeal? If so it could be as simple as having some incorrect information changed; happened to me. But as I said before the only information we are going to get is going to come from him. I doubt Harris is going to tell us why he refused the case. The Doctors and the Cops can’t make any statements about medical or mental health issues. He doesn’t appear to be a reliable source for what’s going on. Why pro bono? He has people from all over the country making comments and he has asked for donations for a legal defense fund. It sounds like he may have (or will have) the money to get a good lawyer. .
  8. After making that video and telling everyone to send money to Harris; John Harris has refused to take his case. I’m curious to know why. “They did not take my guns away.†Really? That’s what a lot of people seem to be worked up about. This sounds to me like it could be as simple as a mistake in his background check because of the mental hospital stay that may not even require an attorney.
  9. We will only hear one side of this story. Due to the medical issues I don’t think whatever agency took his guns will even be able to comment. Apparently theses decisions were made by a Judge.
  10. Did it get reblued or just get a trip to Arizona?
  11. Is Bloomberg spending his own money or are the tax payers of New York City paying for this ridiculous nonsense? Who is providing the thousands of dollars this guy destroyed for this story? This guy had to travel from New York City, all the way across the country to Phoenix, AZ to make these terribly dangerous transactions. I would never buy a .50 cal in a dark parking lot. If I’m spending that kind of jack I need to see what I’m buying.
  12. Whats "a tactical assault rifle modified to use bullets for an AK-47"? "But the scariest transaction came after dark in a pharmacy parking lot. The online ad was for a 50-caliber sniper rifle, the most powerful gun legally sold in the U.S.: bullet range 5 miles. It can pierce armored vehicles, even bring down a helicopter. But the seller was so laid-back, you’d think he was hocking a used bicycle." You could have done it during the daytime in the Police Department parking lot and you might not have been so scared.
  13. This. I don’t think anyone is complaining. It just makes you look like a fool when you make threats you can’t back-up. Kinda like last month when they threatened to ticket New York drivers. If the state of Tennessee is so concerned about protecting our rights; how about we start with an easy one…. Lets become the 5th state that recognizes our 2nd amendment rights to keep and bear arms.
  14. No, I’m a psychic. Or… maybe it’s because you put a link to that gun at Buds in your first post and it had a $269 price. If you got that price at a local dealer; I would say that’s a pretty good deal.
  15. It is possible to add a “subscribed threads†link to the main page? Unless I’m missing something the only way I see to do it now is to pick “View New Content†and then go down to “Topics I participated inâ€.
  16. Sorry man, Leonard is on your side of the “I fear the government, they are out to get me†discussion.
  17. This thread belongs in the Zombie Apocalypse section, not in the National Politics and Legislation section. Depends…. Does my side of this conflict/emergency need military aircraft? If they do I’ll go to work, if they don’t… not much point. Here are some stories of what happened during Katrina. You can make your own decisions on their accuracy. Left to Die in a New Orleans Prison | Hurricane Katrina | AlterNet ACLU: Prisoners at Orleans Parish Prison Left Behind During Hurricane Katrina Katrina Jail Lawsuit: Jury Awards Tourists $650K - CBS News Just enjoy the rest of the movie and not try to decide if it could actually happen.
  18. State law needs to be changed to allow the use of deadly force on fleeing forcible felons.
  19. I apologize Robert. I would have never thought that someone that spent 8 years on active duty would think that the military or the people would follow a corrupt President violating the law. See what happens when we make dumb azz assumptions about whole groups of people.
  20. Shooting the pick-up driver in the head while he was fleeing will likely be a problem. Especially when he claims he was not one of the burglars. I can remember in Illinois when we could shoot fleeing burglars; stop or die. But the good ole days are gone.
  21. Exactly. The 2nd amendment is already destroyed, but he could absolutely be used to show how the background check is a joke. If you can buy a gun in any state that does background checks after your HCP has been pulled and it has been ruled that there is a “material likelihood of risk to the public†then the background check system is a joke and we shouldn’t have to pay for it.
  22. This wasn’t an internal investigation. This was Knoxville Police investigating two people who happened to work for Oak Ridge. The determination about criminal charges was made by the DA’s office; not “Brothers in Blueâ€. Now the Officers get to experience the double jeopardy that a citizen doesn’t have to worry about. Now they will be tried by their own department. The Chief has already said he doesn’t think they did anything wrong, but there isn’t anything that keeps him from taking action even though the Knoxville PD and the DA’s office have closed this case “Unfoundedâ€. So no, this isn’t a case of “Fair is Fairâ€, if it was this would be over. You don’t know what the witnesses said. Should their names be published? Because if they said it didn’t happen the way the truck driver said (as the DA said) the cop haters won’t accept that unless the witnesses are named and they have every opportunity to find anything about them that could possibly explain them being part of this huge multi-agency cover-up for two cops from another department. Just out of curiosity, who would you have trusted to investigate this claim?
  23. It can’t happen. That’s not fallacy it’s just thought based on knowledge and facts. Your scenario could only work if you are correct that the public is mindless, dependent sheep. Since by that statement you obviously haven’t served in the military or get out much, I can assure you that making that assumption would cost you your life if you tested it. Robert, as long as there are people like some of those here on this forum, people like you are safe. They will not allow Obama or anyone else to take illegal control of the country whether he has the backing of the military or not. Sleep safe and quit watching so many movies.
  24. Now that’s funny. Could you see Hickok and Fancy doing gun reviews together?
