RT: China Says Either WW3 or New World Order
DaveTN replied to plank white's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
This is about economics, not war. China isn’t going to go to war with us, and if they do you won’t need any ammunition, and they can “hunt†all the submarines they want. Neither side would “win†in a war. “Mutually Assured Destructionâ€; everyone loses. China wants us to stay prosperous enough to buy their products. They are manufacturing at a crazy rate and their standard of living reflects that. Do to our own greed their economy will flourish while ours declines. Future generations will be left to fix what we have done. -
Tennessean LTE: "Gun bill interferes with property rights"
DaveTN replied to daddyo's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yes I tried to go the civil disobedience route and thought it would help change the law. I was young and dumb. The put me in handcuffs and took me to jail. It cost me thousands and I changed nothing. The good thing was I tried it in Illinois where I could only be charged with a misdemeanor. Had I tried it here I could be charged with a felony on the whim of a DA. I want it all….. I want Tennessee to be the 5th state to recognize my right to keep and bear arms. If they can’t do that; they can’t force it down the throat on a private business owner. -
Tennessean LTE: "Gun bill interferes with property rights"
DaveTN replied to daddyo's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Emotions? Circumventing reason and logic? You mean like calling a gun a weapon and comparing it to a hammer in your trunk? These bills aren’t about weapons, they are about guns. Of course it’s an infringement that you can’t carry a gun to work in your car. But it’s an infringement by the state for all Tennesseans, not just those that can afford a carry permit. You live in the state of Tennessee where it is a crime to carry a gun; you don’t have a right to carry a gun; you bought a privilege. What about the people that can’t afford to pay for the privilege? When an employer makes the argument that they don’t feel simply having a permit shows any level of training, Is the state going to have someone that will step up and make the argument that HCP holders are properly trained and they are safe? I’d fall out of my chair laughing. I ask my friends in Illinois to try not to let the words “2nd Amendment†or “Constitution†pass their lips when we are having discussions with legislators trying to get carry laws. Acknowledging a right to carry is not what they are after and if you turn it into a 2nd amendment argument; you have lost before you even get started. That fight has been fought and lost. Same thing here; our state does not recognize our right to carry. And to try to drive it down the throat of businessmen to allow something to those that have paid the state their “Carry Tax†is just an act of a thug government. -
Tennessean LTE: "Gun bill interferes with property rights"

There is no “Mexican standoffâ€, and you don’t have to let them search your car now. The only way they would need to search your car would be if they called you in and ask if you had a gun in your car and you either lied or refused to answer. If they want to get rid of you they don’t need to find a gun; they just let you go; they don’t have to give a reason. If they want to keep you, they tell you to leave the gun at home and don’t bring it back on their property or you will be fired; it’s then up to you. Is this even an issue? I’m sure there are cases of employers searching vehicles in suspected theft cases; are there any cases of an employer searching a vehicle for a gun. I would bet that the only cases of someone being fired for having a gun (if there are any), are cases where they had the gun out and someone saw it or they told someone at work they have a gun in their car. These bills are because some people that work for big companies like Nissan and FedEx that don’t like their “No guns in the workplace policiesâ€. But unless you are in a union or have an employment contract you have no protection even with this legislation. Pass legislation that makes Tennessee the 5th state to recognize the right of the people to bear arms. It still won’t keep an employer from having a no guns policy, but it will give someone a chance in court. Right now carrying a gun in this state is a crime and I believe even if this “parking lot†legislation is passed it will be defeated in court the first time it is tested. -

As soon as the state of Tennessee recognizes the 2nd amendment right to bear arms; I will support legislation that allows the state to force an employer to allow an employee to have a gun in their car at work. But to suggest that the state can strong arm business owners into allowing us (HCP holders) to have a gun in our car when it’s a crime for the other 95% of the citizens is Ludicrous. You have a right to bear arms or you don’t; Tennessee says you don’t. And if poor people don’t have that right neither do those of us that are lucky enough to be able pay for the privilege. Business owners have rights and responsibilities; we have a privilege that we bought. Rights trumps privilege every time. These bills will go nowhere. -
I went with the “T†instead of the “X†because I didn’t want the A2 post (I use optics on everything). But the M&P’s are very high quality and should you need it they have the best CS in the business. Top of the line American made iron; you can buy cheaper, but I don’t think you will find better.

Well according to the Tennessee Firearms Freedom Act if they are made here and sold here the BATF has no jurisdiction and an FFL is not required. However….. The BATF sent out a letter to all FFL’s saying that regardless of the laws Tennessee (and Montana) passed it is still a federal offense.
-
Under Tennessee law you can. We just can’t find a manufacturer or an FFL holder willing to test the law. Can’t blame them; I wouldn’t want to be the one testing this either.

Other than the price range, Kahr MK40.

This. And because shooters in residential areas aren’t using common sense; laws will be passed because of them. I have an acre lot in the city and can’t shoot for obvious reasons. Sounds like their houses may be closer than my neighbors, but they think its okay because they are not in the city limits. Someone will have to explain ballistics to them; unfortunately it will come in the form of laws.
-
Smith & Wesson Model 41 if you have the budget for it. I have shot one, but haven’t owned one. I own a S&W 6†Model 617; it’s a revolver, not a semi-auto, but is full size and is as accurate as most anything out there at a reasonable price.

We also have a lot of people that have taken an oath (either professional or personally) to protect and defend the Constitution, the American people, and the laws of the land. Unfortunately many gun forums are filled with those that want to overthrow the government by illegal force and don’t understand that they will find themselves on the losing end of that battle.

Is the link you put in your post correct? I don’t see anything about HCP fees.

Cops have dreams that their weapons won’t fire when needed. The shrinks say that it’s normal and to go to the range and shoot and the dreams will go away when you are confident in the quality of your weapon. Might be the same thing…. Who knows? The mind is a terrible thing.

There is a state of the art racetrack sitting on 1400 acres out here in middle Tennessee that is closed (other than for testing). Apparently the boys from Dover Delaware didn’t have the business horsepower to make things happen. That track needs to be open and we need both a Sprint Cup race and IRL events. Maybe some Tennessee businessmen can make that happen.

Man arrested because of picture his daughter drew (a GUN!)
DaveTN replied to R_Bert's topic in General Chat
Yep, any time adults are willing to throw common sense out the window in support of “zero tolerance†whether it is Police Officers and legislators (Domestic Violence) or school officials (gun rules); innocent people and kids are going to pay the price. -
I played the drums for a little bit when I was kid, over 40 years ago and haven’t touched a set since. On a whim I told the wife the other day I was going to buy a set of drums. She said she wasn’t going to put up with the noise. Is it possible to learn to play and practice on a set of electronic drums using headphones? I’ve never even seen a set in real life. Are they quiet? I did a little bit of research and they look like they cost more than a set of real drums? Comments...

Doomsday preppers false sense of security
DaveTN replied to Glenn's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Okay I have a question….. I’m not familiar with the way Tennessee does things but what these two nut cases are claiming happened; could not have happened in Illinois where I am familar with the law. David Sarti is claiming that he was held in a metal institution for no reason and that a Judge released him, saying that there was no reason to hold him. He now claims that he can’t buy a gun or that if he applied for a truck driver’s job they would see that he has been labeled a “mental defective†by the state. Is this correct, does the state of Tennessee allow this? And if this happened, who entered this “Mental defective†status into the system. He’s claiming it’s in NCIC. I guess he’s claiming it’s there if he claiming the FBI stripped him of his gun rights. Alex Jones: “What do you think about what I just said?†Alex I can’t believe I just spent nearly half an hour listening to you and our own home grow nut case having this conversation. D Sarti: “Please send money.†Gee, I didn’t see that coming. -
I don’t think anyone intentionally uses “Squib loads†in anything. I shoot a lot of different guns at the range. Those include 2†J-frames and 2 ½â€ K-frames plus small semi-autos that certainly aren’t target guns. But I certainly can’t afford to shoot hundreds of rounds of SD ammo at the range; you are lucky to be so rich. The first round was a squib. He was lucky that the two after that weren’t high power loads; he would have probably got hurt. I’d bet he bulged the barrel anyway.

As long as you are wearing it with pride and not in a disrespectful manner; wear all the flag patches you want. Some of us enjoy seeing them. Just don’t wear one while driving a ricer or carrying a Glock; that wouldn’t be right.

Handgun in Vehicle, while having a drink at dinner?
DaveTN replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
After “a few†drinks your BAC will be over .08 and you will lose your carry privileges when you are convicted of DUI whether it’s in the truck or at home in the safe. -
Handgun in Vehicle, while having a drink at dinner?

In my opinion you can. If you transport the weapon in the same fashion that the 95% of the population that don’t have a permit would be required to legally transport it; I would say you are good to go. I don’t agree that if you are legal to drive you are legal to carry. I would think a weapon being involved is going to get you asked to take a breath test a lot faster. I know I would, and if you were carrying and blew a .07; I would arrest you. If you refused to blow you would go for DUI. However… I don’t drink and drive…. Not even one beer. When I go out for dinner I’m drinking, so I don’t carry. My opinion means nothing here; the only one that counts is that of the cop that stops you. It’s not okay to drink and drive and it’s not okay to carry and drink. -
A few months ago I ordered my M&P15T from them. Ordered it on a Saturday and my dealer had it Wednesday. Even though this was a hard one to find; they still had the lowest price. All my other on-line firearms purchases had been with Buds, now I have two options. I just wish they would put their inventory on-line instead of only having that PDF.

If I click on a gun video and it starts with someone showing me that they cleared their weapon or they give a speech about clearing a weapon before working on it; I click it off and go on to the next video. Don’t waste my time. If you need to tell people that they need to clear the weapon before working on it; they don’t have any business seeing what you are going to do next.
