  1. No it doesn’t and I could care less what the implications are or what they will be. Did the guy get out of his truck and attack and kill that kid, or did he get out, confront the kid, and then try to walk back to his truck when he was attacked. Was he in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm? Those are the questions I want answered. If that kid wasn’t doing anything wrong and that guy started a situation that led to the kids death; I think he should be convicted of murder. However, we don’t have a justice system, we have a legal system. And if lawyers can make a jury believe that the kid attacked him while he was getting back in his truck; he may get off. People like him don’t need to carry a gun, unfortunately by the time that is discovered it’s usually too late.
  2. The only philosophy or viewpoints I’m interested in are the legal ones surrounding this. Racists on both sides will make race an issue. Since we don’t know either person involved we have no idea if race was an issue. And unless someone is charged with a hate crime it won’t matter.
  3. You are welcome. You can’t use the postal service for a handgun. You must declare a firearm when shipping. UPS requires that you take it to a customer service center. They may give you grief, but point out to them it’s going to the manufacturer for repair. I haven’t dealt with FedEX, but I know they will ship.
  4. Yes.
  5. You could buy a small bottle and see what happens when it goes through your case cleaning process. A 32 OZ bottle of dykem would mark more casings than you could load in your lifetime. Unless you are drinking it while you reload.
  6. That war was settled before you were born. Colt doesn’t make revolvers anymore (other than some Cowboy guns). S&W owns the revolver market with Ruger a close 2nd. But new ones aren’t cheap and many used ones are priced at new prices. The most important thing for a new shooter is training and trigger time. Buy a gun you can afford and can afford to shoot it often. Just like all of us, as your economic conditions improve; so will your arsenal. Oh yeah, I forgot one thing…. Americans still make the best guns in the world, if you can afford it…. Support them.
  7. But if you don’t shoot someone and the weapon is discovered, the only gray area will be whether or not the Officer wants to use his discretion on whether or not to arrest you on a weapons charge. And then whether he wants to make it a misdemeanor arrest or a felony.
  8. All he does is apologize to foreign countries for things we have done. He can take that circus on a world tour and make millions. What better propaganda tool than an ex U.S. President.
  9. Dykem is used to highlight scribe marks for layout (that’s why I was wondering if you were using it to test sizing dies or something). It wipes right off with alcohol or acetone. I doubt it will stay on if you tumble it in abrasive media, but it might leave a stain. (I’m not familiar with your tumbling media). If I was going to spin something and put a ring on it I would try a paint pen. But that could be kind of thick.
  10. That’s true. But the SCOTUS split the baby in half on the 2nd amendment rulings because they had no other real option. And that won’t change. But I do hate to see Obama get to pick Justices. I think he is intentionally doing everything he can do to destroy this county and he will without a doubt make the worst possible choices.
  11. Dykem (layout dye) wipes off easily with alcohol or just about anything else. It’s not really meant to stay on during the machining process.
  12. I don’t think the Ruger announcement has too much to do with politics though. Sure, sales will be up prior to an election. Especially when the incumbent openly says he wants to outlaw guns. Many popular guns that aren’t getting large contracts that allow the justification of increased production are hard to find. M&P’s and Glocks are all over the place and you can find good pricing because the manufacturers can justify adding machinery and personnel to build that product line. Try to find a good “Deal†on a high end production guns. They are few and far between because the market won’t justify the increase in tooling and personnel costs to increase production. We always want the “next new thing†or the next piece of junk at bottom feeder prices. These guns and ammo prices are like gas prices though, once they go up they never get back down to where they were because people will pay them.
  13. Who is going to come and kick in my door and take my guns?
  14. Okay, thanks you guys. I just thought it might have something to do with making for the sizing process. It’s just for marking… got it.
  15. Obama and the Brady bunch didn’t do anything last election and I doubt they will get anything done after this election. Will they try? Absolutely. Will they get anything done that can trump States Rights or the recent SCOTUS decisions? Doubtful.
  16. I have absolutely nothing to add to this, but I’m a Toolmaker by trade and have used a lot of Dykem so the thread caught my eye and I have a question. I’m not a reloader, so just curious as to why you are marking the casings?
  17. We do learn from history; some more than others. We see it on this very forum every day. Hitler didn’t do what he did by himself. He had to have hundreds of thousands of Germans support him. When people lose their jobs and can’t care for their families the government can control them. Obama can’t do what he wants by himself. He will have to have the support of the people. Most of us here think he is a terrible President. But the fact remains that the American people elected him. Unless the Republicans can pull a rabbit out of a hat before August; he will be the President for four more years. People that are out of work, had their wages drastically cut or depend on some social welfare program are going to elect our Presidents. Economic collapse is the biggest danger we face. As people lose their jobs they are easily controlled. When you have lost your job and can’t afford healthcare a President promising healthcare and jobs (that he can’t deliver) is a big issue. I am a realist, but have a little optimist in me. I believe that we will get through this, but it is apparently going to have to get a lot worse to open some Americans eyes. We will go down in history as causing this by our greed. And we can end it any time we choose.
  18. Thanks Scott I appreciate the offer, but if I decide I want one I’ll probably just order it. Just seeing what users have to say about it right now.
  19. Thanks for the update. So I guess it boils down to “Sir, did you not know what the sign meant?†I’m glad this law isn’t enforced because I just don’t look for signs on doors. I sometimes miss the big “USE OTHER DOOR SIGNâ€
  20. This has been rehashed over and over again, but it’s not illegal to pull a gun unless it rises to the level of aggravated assault (Like the gun that pulled a gun on the news crew). This is a state where carrying a gun is a crime and a cop doesn’t have to wait to see if you are going to “Go for itâ€. He also doesn’t say the cop held him at gun point; he said he had his weapon drawn. I can’t count the number of times I approached a vehicle with my gun in my hand just because something didn’t seem right. Many times the people in the car never knew. He has recourse. I’m not saying he shouldn’t file a complaint if that’s what he wants to do. But I can’t imagine any department doing anything about an Officer pulling his weapon while stopping a suspicious person that is armed with a gun.
  21. Who was the Officer and where did this happen?
  22. Looks like Brandon’s headed to jail. How freaking stupid can you be to pull a gun on a news crew with a camera pointed at you?
  23. A circle with a slash isn’t enough, but add “No guns allowed†and it could be. Here’s what the Tennessee Attorney General has to say about it. But keep in mind this carries no legal weight, a Judge can trump him. I wouldn’t want to fall into the trick bag of having to argue “Substantially similar†in court.
  24. I think that’s been stated by a few people around here with a lot of experience.
  25. Let’s get our own state to quit making criminals out of citizens that carry guns before we start worrying about laws in other states we don’t like. If you are looking for a martyr, I’m sure there are many Tennessee residents that have been charged with no crime other than having a gun, that would like to see you take up their cause. Make Tennessee number 5.
