  1. Absolutely. They made a commitment when they built a factory here. I couldn’t possibly care any less about the lives of the French if my choices put American lives at risk. The French would feel the same about their people. Now for clarity… I’m not saying I don’t care about human lives. I’m saying I would pick Americans over supplies going to other countries. That may not be a popular opinion for some; but it’s what I suspect Trump would do; or most any other person charged with keeping the American people safe.
  2. Ha, ha, ha, I should have known this was Trumps fault. Pence went to 3M to talk with them about increasing production to meet the mask needs we have. I guess sending them to foreign countries is capitalism. I would have never thought the government would need to force an American company to comply, but I should have known better. Apply the Defense Production Act to get the masks from 3M. We will learn a lesson from this some of us have known all our adult lives. Maybe not... Our own ignorance has put us in a difficult position.
  3. Laredo, TX is requiring people entering public buildings to wear a mask. The penalty is $1,000 or “confinement in jail for a period not exceeding 180 days”. My wife works in food processing and they are giving them dust masks because proper masks (N95) are going to medical personnel. 3M Distributors are selling masks to foreign countries because they are showing up with cash. Listen to what this buyer for the state of Florida was told.
  4. In watching the Governor yesterday, the thing I found curious was that he didn’t specify what the penalty was for violating the order. He said he left it up to local law enforcement, but gave direction that he wanted it enforced. So I guess in some areas you get a $500 ticket and in other areas they get you out of the car and beat you with a night stick or dance you around a little with their tasers?
  5. I wouldn't do it Pop Pop. You are in the group with the highest death risk. (so am I) Your grass isn’t worth dying over. Maybe your granddaughter will find someone else that can haul the mower. Or just wait. I doubt you would be stopped, but I would also guess that wouldn’t be considered essential. I haven’t been out of the house in 24 days. I hate it that my wife goes to work. But she works in food processing.
  6. I’m not an attorney, but I would guess they can cut your pay if you both agree to it. If you were advised of it, given the opportunity to quit, and you didn’t agree with it, you should have quit. If your hours are in dispute; you have a civil case. I’m not trying to be cold about it, but you mentioned “Right To Work”, that has to do with requiring you to pay union dues or join a union, and little (if anything) to do with this. Tennessee is an “Employment At Will” state. If you don’t have an employment contract; your employer can let you go for any reason, or for no reason. This is going to be bad. Companies are going to go bankrupt and when its over people will be trying to return to jobs that are no longer there. This administration is trying everything they can to help people to get by and to keep businesses afloat. But 50% of congress only cares about either making this administration look bad or using this emergency to get everything they want. They should be ashamed. The press is making sure we all understand what heroes the medical folks are and what risks they are taking. That is very true. But there are American Workers that are going to work and don’t have N95 masks and protective gear. They are heroes also, because if everyone stays at home; we will die. I don't say that in jest; its a fact. Thank you for going to work. I suspect you will be paid; one way or the other.
  7. I was just having fun with it. I have no idea what the Governor considers to be essential. My WAG would be it would depend on who you are, who owns the boat and where its being pulled to.
  8. ^ This. They might shoot your boat trailer tires off if you don't.
  9. This is live, if you only want the Virus info. It gives the last update time in the lower left. https://www.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6
  10. Steve Mnuchin just said if they have your tax info and direct deposit info, you will have your money within 2 weeks. Social Security after that, others (under banked is what he called it) that need to apply after that. https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/economic-impact-payments-what-you-need-to-know
  11. I just thought of this… when I was a cop and the weather was too bad for folks to go out, like 20 below zero, we would be detailed from one family fight to the next. I wonder if that’s happening now?
  12. Well...just wait. We haven't started on truck drivers yet.
  13. Oh, I know how you feel about law enforcement and I still think you are a decent guy; even though I don’t agree with some of your views. As a moderator, you aren’t quick to fire on a cop or former cop for remarks they make when they are fired on. Some folks have problems with authority in any form, Parents, Teachers, Military Officers and Cops. Other folks are specific problems, like with cops. I always assume there is a backstory that we may never know. I’m pro law enforcement, I made no apologies for that. I support my local Police, and they get the benefit of the doubt when something is in question; I’ve said that many times and make no apologies for that either. Having said that, as you know, I have also always said that when I was a Police Officer I could enforce the law, and did, without violating anyone’s constitutional rights. Your rights end where another’s begin; too many people don’t understand or agree with that.
  14. Boat props spread Coronavirus. They send it into the air and back into the boat. It’s extremely dangerous; be very careful.
  15. Yes. Putting a cross draw on a cop and no keepers on the belt; you know the artist was out of his element. Kinda like the reporter discussing an AR-14.
  16. "HHS is expected to pay the owner of the hoarded equipment pre-COVID-19 fair market value for the supplies." As usual in a news story, we don’t know why they had them, why they didn’t ship them, or the story behind it. If they were doing it for price gouging; I would have not been as nice as HHS.
  17. The taking pay thing was in Texas and of course went through the internet like wildfire. But not so much interest when the company backed off and apologized for their ill-advised plan. https://kfor.com/news/company-apologizes-for-ill-advised-plan-to-dock-pay-of-workers-getting-stimulus-checks/ From their website it doesn’t appear Tennessee has addressed the issue yet. The Feds have. They say if their employment requires interaction with the public, cops, firemen, healthcare workers, etc. WC applies. However, they have insurance and it appears they will get their pay if off sick, so I don’t know what WC would do for them.
  18. 500 EMT’s and 250 ambulances have been sent to NYC from a as far away as CA. God bless those brave Americans.
  19. You get the government you vote into office.
  20. I don’t think Trump F this up. He has experts he is listening to; he isn’t a Doctor. He tried to keep people calm; I guess some think that was a mistake, and maybe it was. He’s now seen many folks are too stupid to follow recommendations unless someone is power is ranting. Maybe he should have started ranting about how dangerous this was from the beginning. Of course, then our Trump hating friends would be complaining because Martial Law would have already been enacted; and probably will be if this lasts another month. Let’s scare the food industry into shutting down to protect their workers, that’s already happening. How does anyone think that will work out? I’m pretty sure my head isn’t in the sand. I will say this: When 911 happened, I was too old to go back in the military and help out. I’m 65 and retired, I’ve never worked in the food industry, but I’m a Toolmaker and CNC programmer, so I can probably run a machine or do something in a food processing plant. I am more than willing to go do that if they need me; and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone.
  21. The Feds at DHS know they will need the help of law-abiding armed citizens if this continues much longer. This might breathe new life into the opinions of some about what “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State,” means. (Minus the “well-regulated part of course ) We may even get to experience it firsthand.
  22. But they have to have someone to blame. It’s no different than the anti-gunners; you can manipulate the numbers to mean and project anything you want. Now everyone’s a medical experts, and the real medical experts are lying because Trump told them to. While you are looking in the mirror, there is no need to blame yourself. Repeat after me…China did this, and no matter how hard they try, no one can blame this on Me, Trump or the Governors. Were we prepared for something like this? No, and we won’t be next time either. What do all you medical experts think should have been done, now that you have the benefit of hindsight? We still have some brave Americans going to work and doing their job to feed us and keep us safe. Will that last another month with the rest of the country shut down? I do not know; but I have my doubts. Have I seen a change in Trump? Yes. I have seen him go from what I think was “We have to open the country back up and get people to work or our country will be in economic collapse.” To “The Doctors have convinced me that if we do that everyone will die, I hope to God we can make it 30 more days.” BTW…I thought this wasn’t supposed to turn into a conspiracy theories thread? That’s exactly what it’s turned into. Hopefully the people trying to find answers aren’t blinded by hate; if they are many more will needlessly die, some by the virus, some by the economic collapse that will soon bring us to our knees if we don’t stop standing around hand wringing.
  23. I assumed they did it they way they did because it was fast. Trying to determine eligibility would be difficult and full of fraud. If you made over $99K or $198K jointly the democrats and the socialists (same thing anymore) see you as part of the problem and don’t want to help you. Leaving the higher earners out may/may not have been a concession. I didn’t make over $198K last year jointly with my wife, and they hate me too, but for very different reasons. I thought it was appalling that both Pelosi and Schumer stood up there and told those bald-faced lies that they changed the bill to what was good for the citizen. The stuff they tried to tag onto that bill was insane. I don’t know what you do in “networking sales”. But I would think networking would be a big business right now, and once this is over it would be booming. My guess is that hundreds of thousands of people had issues when they wanted to network with Doctors, Work, family, or friends.
  24. I hate it that gun sites and forums were spamming with scams prior to this. I’m glad this forum doesn’t do that.
  25. For those of you think the government shouldn’t send money to workers or help business stay afloat; there are some other options. 1. Do nothing and watch the economy collapse as over half the population stays home. 2. Send everyone back to work and don’t worry about the death toll. 3. Give financial help only to the workers and not to the businesses, so that when they are ready to go back to work, their job is gone. Personally, I don’t think our economy can stand another month of this shutdown. But we will see. If it does survive it will be because of what the Federal government is doing.
