  1. Maybe it’s how they do things now…. I don’t know. As a Police Officer I seized many vehicles, and worked the cases to even have homes seized of criminals. But they were people that were arrested, and ultimately convicted of drug offenses. I don’t have a problem with that. I do have a problem with a Police Department or District Attorney seizing assets of someone that is not charged with, or even accused of a crime. I have a hard time believing this is the fault of cops on the street. We had to submit our arrest reports to Command Officers or a Shift Commander along with the evidence we seized. Those reports had to support the charges we had charged a person with. Do they not do that anymore? Did no one question why $22K was taken off a citizen and no arrest was made? Please fill us in on what the media is not telling us? I fell for this hook line and sinker, I never ask anyone I stopped if they had cash on them, and don’t know why a Police Officer would do this unless it was part of a drug possession investigation. I saw the dash video of the 23 rd JDDTF surrounding the Dice Officer and in a different incident saw the heated exchange between a JDDTF Officer and a DICE Officer. I’m sure News 5 edited that video to make it look as bad as possible. I’m sure the six vehicles could have been meeting for coffee and donuts in the middle of the interstate, but I can’t think of a good reason the heated exchange between the two Officers. Anyone that has been here for very long knows that I support the cops when they are right. But this is wrong, and I am amazed that it’s went this far without anyone in this state’s law enforcement doing anything to stop it. I didn’t think I would ever say this…. But it’s time for the Feds to step in.
  2. Thugs come in all colors and nationalities. It might make it easier for some if they think they can identify their enemies on sight; but you can’t. It’s those that work and try to abide by the law against those that do not work and do not abide by the law. Those that have jobs and income is getting smaller while those that don’t is getting bigger. The long term outcome is obvious.
  3. If he had called the Police and you were stopped, you were subject to arrest for felony aggravated assault.
  4. What does seizing money have to do with a law abiding citizen answering a cops questions? Nothing. Just because you give consent to search doesn’t mean he gets to keep anything he finds that he wants. And why is a cop even asking about cash? I will say this… if you run into a truly criminal cop, the last thing in the world you want to do is get in a pizzing contest with him on the street. He won’t fear you or your attorney and you may end up in prison. Which still has nothing to do with the discussion at hand.
  5. This isn’t about search warrants or probable cause; this is about theft. If you turn it into a discussion about warrants the real crime here will get lost. I don’t care if the discovery of the cash came from a warrant or a search backed with probable cause; if there is nothing but a citizen carrying cash there is no reason to take it without an arrest. And that video link has no business being here.
  6. Most cops would not do that. It’s armed robbery by Police Officers. The state Attorney General and the Tennessee Legislature support it. It needs to stop. When you have cops out on I-40 fighting with each other over “Territory†so they can steal money from travelers…. It needs to be prosecuted criminally. But of course it won’t be because the only people that can bring charges are involved in it. It’s appalling.
  7. I do, but they don’t count here.
  8. Could be a media scam. Google can’t answer who owns the Hiller Armament Company in Virginia, a web site and Facebook account is shut down. If this was a legitimate company it doesn’t appear to have ended to well for them.
  9. My two Honorable discharges won’t qualify me, but maybe some of you guys can use this. http://www.smith-wes...97_757797_image
  10. Thats as valid a reason as any.
  11. Doubtful… The FFL wouldn’t know if his prints were on file or not. If he was refused (TICS) and they want prints, I would guess there is a question on his identity. But thats just a WAG.
  12. And I missing something here? They are saying that Officers that bought firearms (on a department letterhead) that are illegal for regular citizens to own; must surrender them? Prior to this were cops allowed to keep weapons that a citizen couldn’t own if they quit being a cop? In the video they make the jump from guns bought on letterhead that are illegal for the public to own, to all the guns a cop owns. Is that true? Nothing California does surprises me; I’m just trying to figure out what is really happening.
  13. “And I whooped his #@#* azz†His arms were flailing around like a little girl. That security guard owned him from jump. He does get credit for being able to remain on his feet though.
  14. It’s a crime to carry a loaded gun in Tennessee, on you or in your vehicle, don’t lose sight of that. We as HCP holders are a “Special Group†that have bought the privilege from the state. You can carry in your home or on property you own without an HCP. Even with an HCP you can’t carry into a legally posted business. (Many threads here about what is “legally postedâ€.)
  15. They took his gun, and then the reporter made sure everyone knew it.
  16. I don’t think some of these so called “Techs†know which end of the barrel the bullet comes out, that’s why they are answering phones and emails instead of fixing guns. I think if Ruger sent me a shipping label, I would pack it up and send it to them. I doubt they would send it back and tell you that you are out of luck; but you never know.
  17. Terry Walden in Manchester has classes. You will want to check-out his range anyway. Terry Walden Gunsmith Tel: 931-728-0223 1862 Sixteenth Model Rd Manchester, TN 37355 Range Type: Public Shooting Facilities: * Outdoor Pistol (50yds) * Outdoor Rifle (300m)
  18. If our economy fails, gun rights, abortion, and health care will be pretty insignificant. You will have all the gun rights you want if there isn’t anyone telling you can’t have a gun, or don’t have the ability to enforce it if they tried. I do not fear having my guns taken away by anyone. I do fear not having a job or being able to have a home to store my guns in. Americans need to quit looking for someone to blame, step up and take responsibility for what we have done; and then fix it. Could a President that would work towards fixing our economy be able to get elected? I don’t think so. Poor people, people able to work that are getting government assistance, and people that don’t want to enforce immigration laws aren’t going to vote for him.
  19. I’ve just never been able to get into single action revolvers. I would love to have a “Cowboy†gun like a Vaquero, and a nice Western style leather rig. Who knows, maybe someday Colt, Ruger or S&W will make a double action copy of the Peacemaker. Don’t take this the wrong way, I don’t want to change Cowboy action shooting, and I would love to have a collectable Colt single action, but for a shooter I sure do wish I could buy a Vaquero in double action. Some of you guys that do this kind of shooting, please post pictures of your rigs. All that fancy leather is as cool as some of the guns.
  20. That’s what I’m wondering. I know it was only a six person jury, but there couldn’t have been much more than a nod or a show of hands. You would think they would at least take a smoke break before returning a verdict that would send someone to prison for 20 years; must not have had any smokers on the jury. 12 minutes on a 20 year felony…. Wow, I don’t think I have ever heard of something like that.
  21. That’s amazing. I’m not sure I understand what happened. One story I read on this said she was trapped in the house, another said she left the house, went to her car and got a gun, and reentered the house. 20 years is a long time for defending yourself against an abusive husband. Especially when he testified he abused her. She probably wouldn’t have done 20 years if she shot him.
  22. We, those of us that want to get this country “back on trackâ€, are easily split. You see it on this forum all the time. Those that don’t care about anyone but themselves are the largest voting group. The worse the economy gets, the larger that group gets.
  23. Over 40 years of shooting I’ve owned most all of them at one time or another. I’m pretty much locked into Smith & Wesson; other than a .40 micro (Kahr MK40) they have a handgun for every application I have. The Shield might fill the application for a .40 micro, I don’t know yet, haven’t been able to get my hands on one. I’ll leave out the worst and just put the best in the order I like them: Smith & Wesson Kimber Kahr Ruger
  24. You need to call back and find out the model number. Probably 65 or 66. Did it have fixed or adjustable sights? What was the barrel length, what did they want for it, combat grips or rubber, …. Etc. There are no bad Smith & Wesson stainless .357 revolvers.
  25. You can contact the clerk of the court where she was convicted and get notarized copies of the court documents showing the disposition. Might be a small fee. Or she can pay for an FBI background check. Any speculation on whether or not the charge was a felony would be guess work. As Bklem pointed out, she needs to find out if she is a convicted felon; I believe a "felon in possession" in TN is mandatory prison time, but I’m not sure on that. Expungement and even pardons don’t cut it in TN if the crime was a crime of violence or involved drugs. A case of a pardon from another state where TN refused to restore gun rights is going through the court now. A friend of mine has a felony from the 80’s involving drugs and a well known gun attorney told him he could get an expungement, but it wouldn’t get his gun rights back in TN.
