Drop the paramedic gig and become a cop. You get to carry a gun all the time, and the adrenalin level is off the chart.

$519 at Outdoor Junction in Cookeville. They just bumped that in last few days, they were $499. I got the email the day after I bought this and they were out that same day.

I’d go by whatever the department or company policy is. You already know what we all think, and our opinion doesn’t count.

He has to be travelling to or from those activities with an unloaded gun. He can’t just keep an unloaded handgun in the car all the time.

16 Open Carriers vs Several Police Officers!
DaveTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I agree. With legislators always looking for a bill to propose in their name, it will probably just make the legislators aware that people carrying guns don’t have to show ID. They could then address that. -
I’m sure people have thought that since this country was founded. It happened in 1861 and it will probably happen again. Hundreds of thousands of Americans died fighting for States Rights. Even though the side that was fighting for States Rights lost; we have States Rights because of it. The 2nd amendment is a causality of that change. The recent SCOTUS decisions reflect that change. But still some want to attack States Rights if they aren’t in-line with their beliefs. These people are chomping at the bit to overthrow the government and destroy our way of life. Meanwhile there are countries that would love nothing more to see America collapse. We have done this to ourselves; and we are the only ones that can get us out of this mess. No nation on earth has the ability to take us over or cripple us. If we collapse it won’t be from a weapon, natural disaster, or even an EMP. It will come in the form of an economic collapse. The government can’t stop that, and neither can any politician, only the American people can stop it. Want to pray for something? Pray that all Americans, and especially those that think of themselves as Patriots, will have their eyes opened to that.

I don’t think they show up in the “View New Content†on the main forum…. Do they? I use to click on some there if something caught my eye.

16 Open Carriers vs Several Police Officers!
DaveTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Pretty uneventful. Someone called the Police (who knows what they said), they came, checked it out and left. The only time you hear an Officer speak he is calm and respectful. Of course if you title it “16 Open Carriers vs Several Police Officers!†(Which is not what happened) you will up your YouTube hit count. When you do something out of the ordinary people will call the Police. And when people call the Police; the Police will show up. If the call goes out as guns involved, usually any cops in the area that are free are going to show up. I would have shown my ID and told the Officer I’m sorry he had to be bothered with this; apparently someone got scared. He probably would have responded with “No problem, we got a call and had to check it out; thanks for your cooperation.†-
I want a picatinny rail for a scope mount (for this and my 700 VLS) but it doesn’t appear anyone is making one yet. I contacted EGW and they were quick to respond, telling me that they thought the screw pattern was the same as the Mossberg ATR, if I would send them the measurements they would check. When I sent it to them they said it wasn’t even close and they would have to get a drawing from Mossberg. I emailed Mossberg last Monday and ask them about a picatinny base that would fit, but they have not replied. I’m also going to need a Bipod.

I was never able to get into the N frames. I owned a model 27 and carried it on duty for a short time, but it was just too big even for that. In steel or stainless it won’t feel much different to shoot than your 586. I don’t think they have anything to offer over the 686. “Scandium†is just a marketing tool; its aluminum. I would stay away from alloy frame guns in heavy calibers; unless that alloy is stainless steel. If you just want an N frame for your collection I would check out the model 29 or 629. Just my opinion having carried them all. There are no bad Smith & Wesson revolvers.

That is pretty cool, and took a lot of planning. I give it two thumbs up. I would have left out the two guys kissing…. But that’s just me. -
Threats Made By New Black Panthers Leader
DaveTN replied to mcurrier's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I wonder how long it would take for me to be in Federal custody on hate crime and conspiracy charges if I offered a $10K reward, alive or dead, for someone that is a minority? -
Correct, it’s a Simmons Whitetail 6.5-20X50. .

1:9 I will try some good stuff, but I have to wait until I go to Illinois to get any distance.

With the Mossberg 10 round that came with it… Cheap plastic 20 round… hey it’s’ all I had in a 20.
-
It came with a 10 round; I’ll probably get some more of those for bench shooting. I sure do wish my Remington 700 VLS would take a mag. But Jesus, they want $345 for a magazine conversion and $80 a piece for 10 round mags.

I was looking for a .223 bolt that didn’t do as much damage to my wallet as my .308 at the range. When I saw a .223 bolt that took AR mags, I just had to give it a try. Looks to be pretty well made. The bolt is really tight, but they say it will loosen up. The scope is a cheapie I had laying around. I will add something else after I see how this shoots.

Distracted drivers is #1 cause, speed is the #1 factor in how bad the crash will be.

I don’t know how it is here, but where I was, these were lucrative contracts for the towing companies. Every car that was towed from an accident where the owner either couldn’t pick a company because they were injured or just didn’t care, every car that was towed from an arrest, and every car that was towed for being illegally parked or stalled in traffic; was towed PDA (Police Department Authority). That’s a lot of towing and a lot of money to a tow company. But to get those contracts there things they had to agree to. Things like set rates and that they couldn’t charge victims of crimes for the recovery of their cars. They were happy to do that. I towed a lot of cars and I never got a kick back. I did have one of the tow truck drivers send a round of drinks to my table in a bar one night though.

Now I’m curious… I knew Murfreesboro has red light cameras, but I just looked at a web site that says they have speed detection cameras also… I did not know that. I wonder what the revenues really are after all the costs. I wonder if sworn Police Officers monitor the equipment and issue the tickets. Is the limit their discretion or do they have set limits? Do they have quotas or “acceptable standards Do cities get to monkey with the timing on red light cameras or is it covered by state law or procedure? Do we have anyone on here that is involved with the operation of these enforcement cameras? Inquiring minds want to know.

He has a legitimate complaint. I would drive up to the PD that had the vehicle towed and tell them I want my property and I’m not paying a tow company that is holding it for ransom. I would talk with a Command Officer and depending on KY recording laws I would carry a recorder. I like to think that will solve the problem. But if it doesn’t I would contact one of these TV news guys that do the rip-off segments and see if they want to run with it. It’s only 15 miles but the state line running through there is probably what’s causing the problem. You are right to be pizzed off, everyone should be; he is the victim of a crime. And this can be fixed by one phone call from the PD to the tow company.

How you make a loaded gun quickly accessible in a house with children is something that many gun owners face, how it is handled varies. Getting a handgun and loading it is okay if you have the time to do it; but you may not have that time. A gun is a mechanical device and no matter who makes it, it can fail. Clearing and chambering rounds everyday can lead to ammo failure and offers the chance of an AD/ND. I own many handguns including high capacity duty type weapons. But the handgun spot next to my bed is occupied by an S&W 686 .357MAG. Daily ammo rotation or bullet set-back is not an issue, being out gunned is not an issue. I’m not bad mouthing semi’s, I use them as my carry guns; but everything is application driven.

Have you checked out outdoor junction in Cookeville? I went there last weekend because they had a rifle I was looking for. I was surprised I hadn’t seen them mentioned on here before. Well stocked gun room, reloading supplies, plenty of fishing, hunting, and archery stuff. The Outpost is about the best stocked you will find around here. I don’t know how their prices are on reloading supplies, but their prices on guns are high. Guns & Leather has a good selection and pricing, but they are 100 miles from you. I haven’t been in Hero Gear since they changed hands, called on a couple of guns but they didn’t have them and didn’t seem interested in getting them. But prior to that they were the best in your area.

Did he file a report with the Police here? If he did, tell him to call them and tell them where the stolen property is. I don’t know how it works there, but many departments have contracts with towing companies that tow “Police Department Authorityâ€. If the Police there release the property to him, the towing company can’t hold it for ransom. Yes, you can get all the judgments you want against dirt bags, but these are guys that don’t pay their bills or child support; he won’t get any money…. only lawyer bills.
