It’s just a glitch in the matrix; it won’t last long. Mom & Dad at home hasn’t weighed in yet on the Army forcing them to use an inferior product that could cost them their life.

I’m in Murfreesboro and I also use Mike at the Saddle Shop. If you buy from Buds or CDNN, he’s already set-up with them and you don’t have to mess with FFL stuff. THE SADDLE SHOP (608) 256-2281 5101 MURFREESBORO RD COLLEGE GROVE

Question about self defense in your home
DaveTN replied to Glenn's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Are you talking about John Adams of Lebanon? He was in his living room watching TV at 10PM when cops had the wrong house on a drug raid. They knocked and then forced the door. Unfortunately for him they gave him enough time to retrieve a shotgun and fire a shot at the Officers. They returned fire killing him. -
Missouri doesn’t help us any. Just like guns, unless a Tennessee court, the 6th Circuit, or the SCOTUS rules it is unconstitutional it doesn’t mean squat here. Surely these cases have been to the SCOTUS; have they refused to hear them?

Question about self defense in your home
DaveTN replied to Glenn's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
If they are burglars the law is clear. You will go to court with a presumption that you were in danger of death or great bodily harm. However, I see nothing in the law that says the DA can’t take you to trial if he thinks he can break down that presumption. An off duty Deputy was out with some friends and wanted to show them a house that was for sale. He thought the owner was out of town…. he was wrong. They were on the back deck when the owner fired through the door killing the deputy. The owner had no idea who was out there or what their intent was. He was not brought to trial. Not that I think that would happen in all counties, but it gives you an idea of a real life Tennessee scenario that was called self-defense. Would I shoot them in the back? No, I have other options. But I think it would be legal as long as there were no extenuating circumstances. -
16 Open Carriers vs Several Police Officers!
DaveTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Warrants. It's just good Police work. Good cops will never stop asking for ID. If you are in a situation where you don’t have to show ID; then don’t show it. -
Remington or Savage either one would be great. Scope will be the most important factor at 1K. It’s going to heavy though.

Yes, the M&P X grip adapter is like $13. You don’t have to have it to use a full size mag in a compact.

25 People Shot in Chicago In Less Than 24 Hours
DaveTN replied to mcurrier's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well I’m certainly no anti, and I think everyone should be able to carry a gun. But if guns make for a polite society you will need to explain this to me…. -
At the range or at home yes, but you are giving up barrel length, not real important carrying or at the range, but you said you go shooting a lot. These are not target or competition guns. The full size are.

25 People Shot in Chicago In Less Than 24 Hours
DaveTN replied to mcurrier's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
You don’t need to go all the way to Chicago to find that. Here are six people shot in Memphis in two shootings. http://www.commercia...2012/may/27/02/ -
Yea, I just bought my MK40 a little less than a year ago; it is my only non-S&W handgun. When I saw S&W was releasing new gun I figured it might be a micro 40. Of course it was and it costs a lot less than the Kahr. I don’t pocket carry, so the Shield might fit the application of the Kahr for me. As soon as I run across one at a fair price; I’ll have one. After seeing your D.M. Bullard I wanted one. I was on their site looking for one for the Kahr. They didn’t have one in stock for it, but they had one for the M&P compact, so I got it. I have way too much money in holsters.

Check out the Smith & Wesson M&P line. It’s pretty tough to beat an all American made weapon that has become popular with so many Police Officers, Departments, and HCP holders. I would recommend the full size if most of your shooting will be range work. The Compact is a little easier to conceal. It can also use full size mags when concealment is not an issue. Then there is the new M&P “Shieldâ€, even smaller, but wouldn’t be a good choice for range work. Depending on what I’m doing I have the full size in .40S&W, the Compact in 40S&W, and as soon as I can get my hands on it I will have the Shield. In rifles I have the M&P15T in .223 and the M&P15-22 in .22LR. Can’t go wrong with a Smith & Wesson, you might want to check them out.

I love technology. 3 minute 55 second Police on the scene response time to a shooting victim 2200 miles away. My vehicle can call for help if I’m injured and unable to. It can be tracked if stolen. Cops can be alerted to a person with warrants just by driving past their vehicle. Gotta love it; its here to stay.

New Study: 49.1% of population receiving Gov't benefits
DaveTN replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
Exactly. It would take one heck of a powerful republican with a plan, that people would believe, would put this country back to work to beat a democrat that is promising government hand-outs and health care. None of the republicans running against Obama is that man. -
Who has the right to ask you if you are carrying?
DaveTN replied to sschrick's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
You are absolutely right and that is why I make that argument instead of trying to argue the 2nd amendment; that fight is over. However…. Our legislators and Judges do not agree. You are going to follow the laws of the state you are in or they will take your privilege of carrying a firearm away from you. It is a crime to carry a loaded gun in this state. The state can sell the privilege to a select few, but they can’t take away the rights of the property owner for something that they see as a crime for the average citizen. See how that works? -
I have a DPMS LR-308AP4. I think you see DPMS more than the others because they are one of the few that still make a .308, some of the others gave up, with the exception of a couple (Armalite, Rock River, ?) A .308 AR is sweet. But everything cost more because of the reduced manufacturing quantities. If they ever become mainstream the prices will be the same as for an AR-15. I wanted to put a quad rail on mine, but shoot I could sell it and buy one with a quad already on it for less than they want for a quad for it, and then I would also have to buy the tools, which of course cost more because they are for a .308. It was like $150 more when I bought mine with quad. I thought I would just add it later after I decided what I wanted….. I was wrong. I don’t think you could build one any cheaper than you could buy it set-up the way you want it from DPMS. But it might be a good project.

Anyone would, that goes without saying. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t going to take your gun.

College Student drunk, wanders into wrong house
DaveTN replied to chances R's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
That’s good. At some point in your life you may have money and start collecting things of value. Then you will see that your “I don’t have anything to take†attitude will change. It’s easy to be a minimalist when you are a college student; for most it’s mandatory. -
You pay $25 a year to be a “VIP Member†and when they get the stuff that goes quick they hold it for 72 hours for members only before releasing it for general sale.

Mike, wouldn’t a FMJ BT give a tighter group on paper than a HP BT?

SWATTING - spoofing the swat team to respond on false call
DaveTN replied to R_Bert's topic in General Chat
Of course it would be a big deal, and it is certainly possible. But it would require a sequence of events to occur that are not likely to happen. A person could see you open carrying and call the Police and say you were waving your gun around. Possible? Yes, likely, no. -

Surprising how so many people that want to talk about their rights or quote the Constitution find that concept so hard to grasp. -
SWATTING - spoofing the swat team to respond on false call
DaveTN replied to R_Bert's topic in General Chat
Nothing happened. If continued the same technology the perps rely on will be what captures them. I’m not worried about it; the primary Officers are going to check the scene first. Prank calls always have been a part of Police work.
